Re: Heartstrings in Auburn is closing

  • i know a lot of people like that store so it kind of sucks. i've never gone there though
  • That really stinks.  I love that store.  Its as sad as when The Veranda closed :(

  • I saw they had a bunch of Yard Sale signs in the windows....  Sad
  • Noooo. I loved that store. I bought my favorite ring from there and they saved it when I caught it on a bag rack at Kroger and broke it. Memories.

  • I heard this last week.  They will also close their corp business which is sad b/c a lot of small co's and businesses (online too) use them for monogramming......

I plan on going there this wknd to see what I can find for gifts (to save for Christmas, I do that, I'm weird).

So sad but heard the lady is retiring and just ready to move on.  I wish that someone would just buy it from her!!!  hmmm........

  • I did hear about that...the one good thing is they probably will have great prices on their stuff!
  • Oh no!! I LOVE that store! I'm sad...

Are they having any good going out of business sales or anything? I should really stop by there...

  • not sure, I just emailed them, so we'll see if they respond (if it will go through my email filter that is here at work) but I'm going to go on Fri/Sat regardless.
  • Aw, that is sad!  One of my favorite bracelets came from there.  I wish I could go before they close, but we don't plan on making a trip to Auburn anytime soon.

I stock up on Christmas gifts early if I find something too!

  • how sad! ?I used to love to go to that store when I'd go to Auburn to visit my friends. ?:(

Maybe I'll make a trip out there on Friday.?

  • I am not sure when their final day is, but I was told that there is a store from Bham that is moving in to take their place, so at least it won't be empty.
  • They are having a big sale but I don't think any of the current Vera or Brighton stuff will go on sale...I think the ad in the paper said just retired styles. A girl I know who works for the City of Auburn said a store named Rhapsody (sp) is moving in. She said they have a website, and you are right, Vanessa, she said they are out of Birmingham.

I MISS the Veranda...loved that store.

  • We went yesterday afternoon and everything is not on sale.  Like Heather said, the retired VB stuff is 50% off, as is all of their AU stuff.  Some other random things were 40%, and the Christmas was 75% off.

Auburn art is having a big sale too! We got 2 prints on canvas and in frames for 50% off ($85 each)...and also got the peach and lime Auburn marinade for 75% off, which made them like $2 a bottle.  I think we will have no choice but to make the extra bedroom an Auburn room now.

  • Here's the store that's moving into Heartstrings...

I like the looks of that store!  We supposed to be getting a 5 Guys where Foot Locker was.  It is going to run Cheeburger out of town.

  • I hadn't heard about 5 Guys!  I hope it doesn't run Cheeburger out, I really like that place.

That Wrapsody store looks neat-o too! We have that estate flag that is shown on the home page, but nowhere to hang it yet :(

  • 5 Guys?!?!? That's like 2 doors down from DH's office. I will gain 50 pounds...their fries are SOOOOO good....

My mom has the estate garden flag but didn't get me one because our HOA is CRAZY. I think we can have the one that goes on the house flag pole though. I want to get one.

DH was playing tennis with some city employees.  They said it was going to be announced very soon.  Its his favorite place so he is excited.

  • DH just told me that a girl in his office saw 2 guys in that building a few weeks ago with 5 Guys shirts on. YAY! We loved going to that place when we were at Pier Park in Panama City.
  • It is so dang good.  I can't stand to eat at Cheeburger anymore (I can't get the thought of them being shut down for health reasons out of my mind!).
  • Here is something from the OA News...yay!

    Economic development

The council approved a loan from the revolving loan fund to Gold Valley Development, LLC to open a Five Guys Burgers and Fries in a vacant building on South College Street.

  • I don't know what happened with my computer. Sorry for the duplicate posts above.

I don't remember the last time I ate at Cheeburger. I honestly don't think I have eaten there more than 5 times the whole time I have lived in Auburn. We usually only go when we have people visiting and they want to go there. The one in Montgomery is pretty good.

  • I'm going to try and go to Heartstrings this afternoon too.

    I vaugely remember the Veranda.

I HATE 5 Guys - they have this in ATL.  I guess I'm outnumbered but I don't really eat cheesburgers often anyways.  They are VERY expensive and I felt like they just threw the food at me.  If I had my choice I'd eat at Cheeburger Cheeburger, but then again it's been so long since I ate a burger........... plus, that was my experience in ATL (and I did go twice to give them a chance).  It was like $8 for burger and fries (you order separately).  But I know they are a chain so maybe it's different for each location.

I'm sure that new store that will replace HS will do well too.  It's all in location and just about anything downtown does well.

  • I went to HS today...I didn't see that much really..sad...I did get some Christmas decorations for a steal. I found some willow trees for our front porch that were 70% off. So I got three...would have been almost $150. I don't know who would have paid $150 for these things.

They had everything in the store 20% off except VB and Brighton. Willow Tree statues were 25% off. Some of the fixtures--like tables and such were already sold. If I had a bigger house and needed some furniture I might would have bought one or two things.
