How long....

did it take you to get your wedding pictures back? It's been almost 2 months since our wedding, and our photographer has only posted some pictures on her blog.  I received an email a couple of weeks ago saying it would be 1-2 weeks before they would be up on a website for ordering.  I'm just so sad that I haven't gotten them all back yet, am I being too impatient?!

Re: How long....

  • It took a month for us to have all ours available online.  We just received the discs with our rights last week (about 3 months after the wedding).  We will be getting our album in about another month or so.  Hope you get yours soon!  I love the one in your siggy, it's beautiful!
  • I think two months is too long...unless that was discussed with you ahead of time. I would be concerned and call them.

It took us less than 4 weeks, and they told us 6-8 weeks prior so we were VERY excited they were in early!!

  • I am in the same boat as you. My wedding was 8 weeks ago! I spoke with my photographer 2 weeks ago and she said they would be ready last week by Wednesday and she would call me when they were ready but then never called me.  I called her last Friday and she still has not returned my phone call.  I am getting REALLY irritated because at the wedding, she told me I would have them in "about a month".  In our contract it says 6-8 weeks but at this point we are now getting past 8 weeks.  I think this is way too long and absolutely ridiculous that she hasn't called me back.  I should've known though because a week and a half before my wedding I had to go through all this drama about her getting back to me to finalize everything!!!  UGH!
  • It took our photographer 2 months.
  • We had ours all available online two weeks after the wedding, and got the DVD shortly after that. But, our wedding as in April. I think photographers tend to get backed up in the summer, since it's a busy season for weddings, so that may be why it's taking so long. I'd be anxious if I were you too, I know you want to see your pictures, but as long as the photographer is responsive & you've had good interactions with them so far, I'd try not to get to stressed over it.

  • We got married on a Saturday, left for our honeymoon on a Tuesday, and returned the following Tuesday.  I got a message the next day or two after that they were ready-- so that was about 11-12 days?  This was in 2005, and they were digital and film pics.  Your wait seems a little long for me..

  • We were married in late June, and all of our pictures were available online before we returned from our honeymoon, so within a week of our wedding day.

  • Thanks for all the responses! I think I'll give my photog a few more days then call.  If I don't call, my mom probably will-she is as anxious as I am!
  • Hmm, maybe a few teasers w/in a few days of the wedding, she waited to put the rest online until we met with her to see the entire disk.  We scheduled that at maybe a month out?  But we had Steph Carson and she's very quick (aka-driven!)  I'd start pestering once you get to two months.

  • 2 months, but we got several hundred edited photos so it was well worth the wait.

  • Ours were within a month for 5x7 prints of every single photo, film negatives, DVD, rights release - over 600 shots with both b&w and color photos.

I think it depends on who you use and what time of year you get married in. We were married in Sept. June is really busy wedding time so photogs may get backed up a little more - especially if you use a place that's a one-photographer kinda show.

I'm not sure I'd be bothering them until you passed Contract deadlines. The more annoyed I get with someone nagging me, the longer they'll wait.

Exactly!  I think it needs to be taken into perspective what exactly you are getting.  I was incerdibly anxious to get mine and it was 8+ weeks. However, I needed to remind myself that it was just starting to get into wedding season (our wedding was May 9) and that our photographer was providing 600+ EDITED!! pictures, all printed, etc etc. Editing that many photos takes sometime!  I would rather she take her time and catch all the details than button push her way through them haphazardly.

Also, another thing to consider, have you paid in full? Some contracts read that full payment is due upon delivery of prints, which is a sound business practice, but maybe offering to pay would speed the ball up a bit?  Either way, I know the wait is painful, but be optimistic that your photog is taking the time to really review your prints and edit them justly instead of just pumping anything out.

  • Our contracts states that we should receive our proofs approx. 4-6 weeks after the wedding and we got married 5/31.  My photog apparently took 2500 pictures that night, so I expect to get a lot back.  We haven't paid in full yet and I totally understand not rushing an artist and my photog pretty much works on her own.  Just curious as to how long the wait was for everyone else, thanks for all the input!
  • We used Amanda too....our wedding was 4/25 and we got our pics back 6/10.  I think she is just really really busy.  Be patient, they'll come Wink
  • We got married 6-27-09 and they were up by July 14th I think. All 1287 of them were avail online. Extremely impressed and loved the pics!
  • We were married in August and I didn't get our proof book until... at least October and it might have been after that?
