Anybody live in Clermont area? We currently live out in Stoneybrook East/Avalon Park area and will be moving to Clermont at the end of November. We are building a home out there! Yay! finally a yard for our doggies!! Anyway, was just wondering how people liked it out there and what new things were being built. ?
?Also need a vet rec for my pups!?
Re: Clermont?
I'm in Clermont - we've been down here for a little over a year and we're loving it! Coming down from NJ, we love that it has a "small-town" feel, yet are very close to the turnpike to get places quickly. What development are you moving into?
Thanks for the vet rec!
?
We are moving into Verde Ridge. It's off of old HWY 50. We were trying to get as close to the turnpike as possible since we both work in Orlando. ?It's a new development going up back there. I like the larger sized lots, it makes it feel like you can actually breathe after being in Stoneybrook and Avalon Park where you are in spitting distance from the neighbors. How about you? what neighborhood are you in? ?
I'm in Verde Ridge!!!!!!!! Which builder did you buy from? Which street are you going to be on?? I'm on Hernando Place, across the street from the lake.
This is exciting!! lol

I'm in Greater Hills also. We bought our house just over two years ago and we love it. Clermont is growing up so fast but it still sort of has a small town feel. And I LOVE the hills. Traffic is non existent compared to any other side of town. We are wanting to try to look for a little bigger house soon and we will definitely stay in Clermont. Probably stay in our neighborhood if possible.
?
looks like we are all going to be neighbors!!! Greater Hills is across the street too. ?We are building on Giovani Blvd in Verde. We are going with Pulte. Since you are on the lake I assume you are pulte also??
?
I'm going to need someone to let my dogs out around 2pm three days a week. Do they do stuff like that as well? How much do they charge??
?
Ohh I forgot to ask DUH how do you like living in there? As I drive around I absolutely love it and think I will love living there, but would like to know from an owners perspective. Like do you feel safe at night and what are the neighbors like??
The neighbors are awesome! There are people of all ages - younger couples with no kids, families with kids and "older" people. There are a few cops living in the development, so they keep an eye on things and there are cop cars that drive around. Tomorrow is the first day for a new homeowners association, so we'll see how that goes.
Yep, we built with Pulte. Apparently they're offering more options now, so that's great for you guys (we only got to pick carpet, color of granite countertop, tile and the color of the house).
We're having a "National Night Out" this Tuesday (630 pm I think?). It will be at the pool area and is hosted by Target. The police, fire department, mayor will be there. Hot dogs, hamburgers, raffles - that sort of thing. You should stop by if you get the chance to meet some new neighbors!
?
That's soo cool! I would love too. Don't know what the chances of that are since I live on the opposite side of town for now, but I will mention it to the hubby. We really didn't have all that many options really when compared to other home builders...same as you (carpet color, tile, countertops, we are adding on a porch and upgrading cabinets and stone front), but the neighborhood and quality of the house sold us. We are building the Durham with the stone front like the model they have up at the entrance. You will be right down the block from us! That's really refreshing to hear the neighbors are great too! What do you mean there will be a "new" home owners association started??
I wish they had that stone front when we bought our house!! I would have loved to have that. The Durham is a nice model - I remember when they built the new models that we liked that one better when we walked through the sample homes. We have a Ritz (part of the "old" models they had).
Good idea getting the porch!! DH built the porch on ours and we love to leave the sliders open during the cooler weather.
HOA - we used to have LandArc in charge of the association, but a company called "Graystone" will be taking over tomorrow. Once the community reaches a certain percentage (90%??) occupancy, then it will be run by the homeowners (at least that's how I interpret what I've been told).
I haven't seen any gators yet (we've been here a year), but there are supposed to be gators in the lake. There's also a family of 4 sandhill cranes that wander around, so that's neat.
?Really? wow. I guess it's definitely all in perspective. Since I live on the east side of Orlando now, and deal with bumper to bumper traffic every day, Clermont feels so open and peaceful to me. Do you live farther out in the country??
I don't live in Clermont anymore. I moved about 4yrs ago. I currently live outside the city where i'm at now. My parents still live in Clermont though, my mom lives outside of the city, on 12 acres! Thankfully where she is at its 1 house per 5 acres.... I didn't mean to come off as anti-clermont, I'm proud to be from old clermont... but being from there, and knowing how Clermont used to be when there really was NO traffic it seems horrendous now. I actually live back in clermont for about 6 months about a year ago and i was working in downtown orlando..OMG, the freakin' drive home was ridiculous. but for you , you will get off of hwy 50 relatively quickly, but for me I had to go all the way through clermont and the traffic was horrible. I am just not a city person, i hate the city, i hate orlando. My dad lives in downtown orlando, literally right off of Orange Ave, ugh...We are going there tonight and i'm dreading the drive & traffic.
But seriously, if you moved from Orlando then I guess Clermont will be nice for you. It really is a nice place. My dad was born at South Lake Hospital before it was where it's at now. So i'm serious when I say i'm "from" Clermont.
?
wow! you hardly ever meet someone who was born and raised in Central Florida. So many of us are transplants. I'm from the panhandle myself..Pensacola. I grew up on 20 acres of land about 5 miles from AL, so I guess it would be like my hometown getting really busy all of a sudden. But after living in the heart of orlando traffic for 8 years, Clermont is definitely a slower pace for us anyway. Not as slow as my hometown, but I understand what you mean if you really like country and lots of land. It's not quite that with your cattle ranches and corn/cotton fields everywhere. For me it was a happy medium. I would NOT want to live in downtown Orlando. That was me 10 years ago wanting to be in the midst of it all. I was about to ask if you have to go into Orlando much. Driving the toll roads or I-4 daily make ?Clermont seem like country. LOL Right now, it takes me 30 minutes to get from my neighborhood to 417 in the mornings when schools are in and its only 5 miles!?
Thank you Yep, 3 car garage, but it got filled really fast!! I love that I'm able to park in the garage, though and not outside.
What color is your house going to be?? Have they begun construction yet? I drove down your street and saw 2 houses under construction and 2 lots marked as "sold." You're really close to me - I hadn't realized how close Giovani was until now (that street wasn't open when we built, so we didn't really pay attention to that section...lol)! Awesome!
They haven't broke ground on ours. It's on one of the lots that say sold. Ours is going up to the right of the Ritz being built on that street
Did you build a fence by chance? We are going to need to put one up for our dogs. There goes our tax refund! LOL
OMG!! that's insane! the builder told us 6k-8k!
hmmm we MAY be installing ourselves! LOL
We don't go to Orlando to much. Maybe a few times a month to see my dad, or to go to Bass Pro Shop over on International Drive. I have an epass so that is nice but i rarely use it because we only have one toll road in polk county, and I never ever go on it. My dad lives in a new apt complex right on Orange ave, a few blocks from ORMC.. no thank you!
Uhm....oh my GOD!!! That is absolutely crazy. Hubby and I were very jealous about Verde and wanting to maybe look into getting in over there. Not with this information though. $10,000 for a fence and no options. No thank you, We are across old 50 in Greater Hills and put up a 6ft. wood privacy fence on 1/4 acre with the back being chain link (since no one could see it) and only paid about $1200 for all the material, installation and 2 gates.
?
It's going to be a while before we fence with prices this high, and may end up having to do it ourselves. Luckily my hubby is handy. Another option is going in with your neighbors and splitting the costs since everybody has to have the same fence and share a side of it.?
I actually made a mistake - the estimate was more like 6-7k. I have no idea why I thought 14k, but I remember that # for some reason. We did have options like carpet color, granite counter top color, tile color, house color. They do have more options now and the othe builders (Hibiscus and Adams) offer even more options - we just liked the Pulte homes better.
