Do you shop on Black Friday?

We do. I actually signed up on bfads.com to get the ads early. It is a big thing that me, my mom, and sister do together every year. I think I like that part more than the shopping part.

Do you go?
What stores do you never miss?

Re: Do you shop on Black Friday?

  • I used to LOVE going shopping on black Friday, but I haven't gone in a few years because of work.  The Friday after Thanksgiving is one our biggest shipping days for Poinsettias.

    Ditto!

What stores do you never miss?

    Target

  • I used to.  But people are just too crazy, pushing people and one year someone got really hurt.  I do my shopping way beforehand so I dont have to worry about shopping along side all the nut  balls.

  • i go if there's stuff that i need to get for people on sale. and usually there is. we generally hit up target, michaels, sears, maybe another store or two depending on what's on my shopping list. but never ever best buy (made that mistake one year) and i don't think we'll do kmart again either- needed to get one thing last year and dh was in line for almost 2 hours. insane.
  • Hell to the no. I avoid stores like the plague on Black Friday.

  • I like to if possible. When I was younger, my family would always go together. I try to shop in a smaller mall or area if possible so it isn't SO crazy.

    Not to miss:

The local mall, Target and WalMart, Scheels.

  • No way! My mom loves to go, but traffic is hell and people are just plain rude. I wait for Cyber Monday and do all my holiday shopping then. I've actually already started my xmas shopping and I have lists for everyone already. It's way easier than trying to deal with people on Black Friday.

  • shop - nope.   i have a pt job in retail so it's mandatory that we work at least 4 hours that day.  i'm usually scheduled at open so i get to see all the madness.

We don't do Best Buy either unless we need something bad then we do it at the end of the afternoon. Never first thing though.

  • I have gone Black Friday shopping every year since I can remember. It was tradition to always go with my sisters, mom, and grandma. The past few years I've gone with H bc we live far away from our families and don't go back for Thanksgiving.

Every year I usually hit up Best Buy, Circuit City, Macy's, K-Mart, Wal-Mart, etc. I don't really have set stores I must go to, it's just where ever has specials for things I want to get as gifts.

  • I usually find one store that has a large selection of what I am looking for and go there. I hate going to multiple stores. My choice is usually JCPenny.
    PhotobucketAnniversary Holiday
  • I usually go to whoever opens the earliest.  I think JC penney, Target and Macy's are the main stores, but I usually wind up at other stores... whoever has the best stuff in their ads.

It was more fun when my daughters were living at home and went with me, but I still manage to get great deals and get back home before the stores get too crowded.  Usually just in time for breakfast.

  • DH is generally obsessive about it....he's already checked out the sites and is planning.

But I feel like in the last 2 years the really great deals on things we care about aren't there...so I'm not sure how it will be this year.

  • DH's cousin and I have had a black friday tradition for yrs.  We usually start at Target near my house, unload, and then hit the outlet mall a bit further north (45 min).  Last yr, the mall opened at midnight, and we went.  I totally regret it.  I was pooped all day long!

I told cousin that I do want to do it again, but not that extreme.  Honestly, unless we are looking for huge ticket items, the bargains are that huge to justify the drive up to the mall, and the parking we had to pay (parking was a b*tch, and we ended up valeting).

  • I used to love to go shopping that day.  But that is when we'd go in the afternoon and we lived kinda rural so by the afternoon all the bargain hunter had gone home.  Living in D.C. its still crazy and people are REALLY nasty and it just takes the fun out of shopping that day.

  • We go every year--it's tradition. We line up at Best Buy first, usually (around 4am or so) since there are always electronics on our list. We tend to hit Fry's and Target as well.... it all depends.

  • I never shop on Black Friday.  I avoid the craziness.

    Target

You're the crazy guests we talk about.  Stick out tongue

But that's ok...I shop on Black Friday too but I never get up THAT early (but this year I'm actually going to work that early so I can actually still shop at my normal time lol)

  • yes.  we will be getting a flat screen TV on costco.com most likely this year...MIL is buying it for us for christmas but I told her I would find the best deal.  me, mom and sis usually it south coast plaza which is the best mall near us...its tradition more than the shopping for us as well.  Macy's is a must hit and we always have lunch at the same place:)
  • I go every year with my mom and 3 sisters. Our stops always include: Wal-mart, Target, Best Buy, Kohls, and Toys R Us.
    imageBabyName Ticker BabyFruit Ticker
  • I have gone with my Mom for years.  Macys was always important to hit first b/c the best prices are before a certain time.  Last year MH and I went to Walmart @ 5am.  It was crazy, totally packed but I got what I went there for, a Kodak digital frome for my parents on sale for $70!  MH and I also buy toys for less fortunate kids every Christmas, last year at Walmart big name toys were onsale for about $10-20 real early so we stocked up.  We know this year many people will not be able to donate so we are going to Walmart again early to try to get as many as we can for the money.
  • No - I try not to leave my house to avoid the craziness.  DH has gone a couple of times, but often comes home frustrated.

I have learned over the years that I have more money than patience!

  • We are usually visiting my family for Thanksgiving and DH and I go shopping on Black Friday because the stores are a lot less crowded when my family lives.  We spend Thanksgiving Day going thru all the ads and circling what we want at each store and we usually have a system of I run and and grab what we want and DH tries to find a parking spot...sometimes I make it out of the store before he even parks.

Stores that we don't miss usually are Best Buy, Wal-mart and Target.  But it all depends on who has what advertised.

  • HECK NO! That many crazies in small places all at once gives me serious anxiety. I don't mind paying a little extra to shop when stores are not an absolute zoo.
  • I love shopping on Black Friday-I always hit Sears, Disney Store and Aeropostle
  • I never have...combination of usually having to work and not being a fan of the huge crazy crowds.
  • I didn't used to until SO and I got together.

    We never miss Best Buy.
