Original Ideas for Baptism gift for non-religious family, please
I'm sure this has been asked before, I'm sorry..
Aside from a savings bond.. what are some ideas to give a 9 month old for his baptism? The family aren't regular church-goers, so a cross or bible isn't appropriate in this instance.
Thanks ladies!
Re: Original Ideas for Baptism gift for non-religious family, please
i'm a fan of checks --- can be deposited - don't have to keep them somewhere safe for 30 years... don't take up space in my house, etc... We pretty much got all checks/bonds for the twins - one frame from MIL that was ... um... ugly.
I don't like getting/giving frames, because I'm picky about the ones I use.... but that's just me.
If you aren't going to give something religious - then it's just like any other gift for a bday... toy/clothes or money/bond.
I usually give $$ for a Baptism, but I've given gift cards to Picture People type places as baby gifts and the moms really liked the idea. I laughed a little reading your title because it sounds like a contradiction - Baptism, but non-religious. But I guess a lot of non-religious people do the Baptism anyway...
Thanks for the suggestions girls.
I got this:

This is right up the Mom's alley, so I think they'll like it.
We're not religious but are having Toby baptized next month. We're having only a few family members there, and not making a big production out of it at all. It's something I want to do for him and for my piece of mind, lol, but we're not regular church-goers or anything you'd call religious.
i'm not religious, either, but plan on having our child baptized for pretty much the same reason.
But, yes, "seriously". It's extremely common to give money as a gift. Not sure what rock you live under.
