Thought i'd start a new post since we overtook that other one.  So is ur fam still in N. Cali?  Did u move to AZ cuz of ur FI?  I hope the cruise thing works out for ya.  Sounds like fun.  I sure hope we don't have trouble making friends.  Already it seems like everyone is so nice on here.  Our fams don't want us to move that far away, but I think they'd def. like to come visit.  My parents have never been to AZ, but my DH's have & they liked it.  Actually that's how I am as well.  I like to take pics, but don't like to get my pic taken.  I love doing nature photography & stuff.  So u were shocked cuz the gas prices were lower?  Everything's pretty expensive in Cali though, isn't it?  I don't think prices are too high here, but from what we've seen, AZ is cheaper than here.  I've already been house hunting since June (around here for a while), & it is fun.  I'm just hoping we can get a real nice one for a good price like what I've been seeing online lately.  I love the style of the houses out there.  One thing we'll def. miss though is having a yard.  It looks like you have to pay a whole lot more for a piece of land out there.  The majority of the houses are on real small lots.  I'm sure we'll get used to it though.  It'll be a big shock overall, but a good one.

Re: *jware1985*

  • No all of my family is here in AZ.  I moved here because of them and met my FI about a year after i moved out here.  Yes, everything is more expensive in california,  it is pretty insane how varied each state could be in regards to the cost of living.  I was going to be suggest this one house for you lol but then i remembered it wasn't completed.  It is on an acer or so but it is bank owned and the guy who was originally building it ran out of money when the economy started to go down.  Anywho, it is here in Surprise and I know you were thinking of Goodyear. Anyways that is enough of my rammbling about that.  Since you have been on here i think it willbe super easy to find friends... that is so exciting moving to Arizona.  I just got a new camera for christmas :) so this spring i want to get out there and take some cool pictures of the area to maybe use in out office or something.

  • Oh ok.  I agree, it's really crazy how much more/less things are from state to state.  Especially when you watch any of the home sale shows.  Well we're open to pretty much anywhere around Phoenix.  It's gonna kinda depend on where I find a job at though.  I don't want to be more than a 1/2 hr away.  Thanks for thinking of me though w/the house.  Keep me in mind this summer, haha.  That's cool that you got a new cam.  What is it?  We just got a new one recently too.  We got a Canon T1i.  Actually we got it right before we came to AZ in Nov.  We got some amazing shots.  I love it so much out there.  Once we get a house, I'm sure I'll prob. get a few blown up for decoration.

  • My FI and I love to watch thos ekind sof shows, like house hunters and prperty virgins.  I completely know what you mean about not wanting a long drive i currently live in Surprise and work all the way downtown in the heart of Downtown.  I know I am in for a long journey when the signs on the free was at 7th ave & I-10 say 29 minutes to 83rd Ave. lol but it is a job and i am lucky to have one. lol that is what they always tell us.  The camera that i got is a Kodak Easy Share Z915. My BIL got a really nice Nikon one when my sister was preggers last year and i really like it but i think he paid like $700 or something for it.  I can't justify that right now, maybe when we have little one.  But i love y Kodak it had 10x zoom so it gets really close up shots.  Girl i feel you, i have been here for almost 4 years and i am still not used to the summer heat.  I moved into my apartment about 7 monts after i moved here at it was June. None of my family or friends wanted to help me until the sun was down.

It is beautiful out here that is for sure, i am starting to apreciate it so much more.  After the wedding we want to start doing more hiking and stuff. Currently our weekends are jam packed with stuff when we do have a free weekend we just stay home.  We have been paint around here alot because the prevous owners had some crazy colors.

    Photobucket
  • Yeah, we watch them all the time too.  That stinks about the long drive, but hopefully it wont' be that way forever.  We hear that too sometimes..."just be happy you have a job!"  I am grateful, but it gets old hearing that.  Especially when it means no raises, dealing w/cutbacks, and stuff.

That's kinda funny that you got a Kodak EasyShare & love it.  I have one of the EasyShares.  It's Z795 or something like that, but I love it for a quick point & shoot camera.  It's only 6mp & I think 12x zoom, but it takes great pics for all the more it is.  I'm spoiled now though w/the Canon DSLR.  It's awesome, but they sure aren't cheap!  You'll def. want to get one when u get the chance.  Especially if u want to take pics for decorating & stuff.

Oh no, that's discouraging.  We're gonna be miserable trying to move stuff in the June or July heat!  I didn't think about that too much yet, I guess.  I hope it doesn't take us long to get used to it.  I don't mind it so much, but DH does at times.

    image
  • I know i think once i am done with school i ight want to get into photography a little more. so that gives me some time to save up. lol. I agree, my office always follows bad news with "but we are lucky to have a job." and i think to my self, that that doesn't make the bad news any better.  Lucky in my fies, which is loan processing for small business loans our volume is picking up so the day goes by pretty fast.

Are you two going to come out here to look at houses before June/July?  Maybe if you like we could meet up if you do come out.  Also, if you are concerned about moving in the heat maybe see if it is n your "moving budget" hire some movers even if they just unload the truck for you. I am sure your husband will thank you Smile Cj, my fiance doesn't mind the heat since he works on AC's and is an arizona native he is used to it. Me on the other hand i can only handle it in small doses.

    Photobucket
  • Yeah school sucks your life away from you.  I'm actually looking to start taking classes again though once we get settled.  We've actually been a lil busier at work lately too, cuz lots get sick & hurt in the winter, but we still hear that.  Glad your time goes fast.  I hate when it's so slow you hate being there.

I'm not sure if we're gonna come out or not.  We're going to get an apt. first, then look for houses while we're out there.  I'd like to see where I'm going to work & check out apts before we get there though, so hopefully we can make a trip out.  Meeting up would be fun.  I'll let ya know if/when we come out.  Movers would def. be worth checking into.  We'll have to see how it goes.

    image
  • Yea, even if they are just there to unload the truck once you guys get our here.  That might hep alot and you two can be in the A/C and start the unpacking :).  That is alwasy my favorite part of moving is the unpacking.  i am big on organization so i love to have everything in its place :)

I wam working on my Associates. I took a little to much time off from school after I graduated from high school. But I am getting my degree now and that is all that matters :) I am sure my FI will be excited when i am done with school so my free time is a little more free :)  ea for sure, we would love to meet and make some new friends that would be awesome! how is the weather where you are, are you getting a ton of snow?

    Photobucket
  • That def. would be nice. I'm also very organized & it drives me crazy when things are a mess.  I can't wait to get a house!  We just have a 2 br apt. now & it's way too small for us.  And actually, all of our nice new wedding presents are sitting in a storage shed cuz we have no room for them.  It's so depressing.

Good luck w/the rest of schooling.  When will you be done?  You're a better woman than I, planning a wedding, working & going to school.  I was busy enough planning the wedding & working full time, haha.  I'm sure your FI will def. like it better when you have some real free time.  When you're in school, free time still usually consists of thinking about something w/school.

The weather sucks big time here!!  High temps have been in the mid 30's, lows in the teens.  We didn't get hit w/the snow as hard as south of us, but we have prob. about a foot on the ground.  I can't wait for summer!!  Big Smile

    image
  • I will be done with my associates in about a year or so, then I am trying to figure out if i want to work on my bachlors right away or take a break to make some babies :) I could only imagine, not being able to use all you wedding gifts due to a lack of storage.  But son enough I am sure you will be abe to find a house tomake a home and they wil all have a comfy place where you can use them :)

Oh my goodness, I don't think I would be able to handle those temps. lol I a finally getting use to the "winter"weather here in AZ so when it is in the 60's I a needing a sweater. lol In california it would be in the 60's and I would juts have jeans and a t-shirt on and usually fli flops :) it is funny how your body gets used to your surroundings like that.

    Photobucket
  • That's a hard one.  Guess it depends how bad you want the kiddo.  I wish I wouldn't have taken breaks in b/w my schooling, but I did & now I still have yet to finish for my Bachelors.  Good luck w/that.  It'll be sooo nice when we can actually have some space & use all our stuff.  We went to the storage shed Sat. to get some stuff & it's so depressing seeing it all sitting there in boxes, haha.  Fortunately for us, the housing market is still looking really good out there.  You might have already told me, but do you guys rent or own?

Yeah, the weather & cold temps really suck.  That's why I wanna get out of here so bad.  It's miserable when you're cold all the time.  I love running around in flip flops & tanks.  :)

    image
  • We currently rent but it is kind of nice for us because we rent fro my parents, so we have been able to do some things to the house the we normally probably wouldn't have.  Painting, chair railing, etc.  I think this spring or next we want to epoxy the garage.  This house was a shortsale, so before moving in our lease in our apartment had come up so we moved in with my FI parents until we closed on the house.  So i know exactly how you feel about storage, we had to put all of our new furniture and decorations in storage and it made me so sad.  Some day hopefully soon, you will have house of your own to put all your wedding gifts :)
    Photobucket
  • That would be nice being able to rent off the parents & make some things the way you want them.  We actually got pretty lucky when we moved into the place we did.  The landlord was great & let us change a few things & paint (w/his money), so we were able to get it more our style.  I still can't wait to get out of it though.  I'll def. keep you updated on things & if we get to come out before the move.  This summer can't come quick enough!  Stick out tongue
    image
  • That is pretty awesome your landlord let you do that.  The was my least favorite part of apratment living when you couldn't do what you wanted.  For sure, keep us updated i am getting excited for you Big Smile I agree summer can not get here fast enough, lol but i am more aniouxs for oct to become a wifey... lol.

    Photobucket
  • Yeah, he's a good one.  We're lucky to have him I guess.  Aww thanks, I'm excited too.  That's also really exciting about becoming a wife though.  Def. such an awesome thing.  I'm sure you'll have an amazng day & finally be stress free so you can just enjoy it.  Married life is great.  Smile
    image
  • We just spent this last saturday with my family and our niece is almost 5 months, so when CJ, my fiance was hoding her i could see how comfortable he was with a baby and when we left he said how he can't wait until we have one of our own.  I can't wait to marry him because i can't see my life without him, i know that is all mushy and stuff but i am just so excited to enter the married life Smile
    Photobucket
  • Aww, that's awesome!  Sounds like you've got a good one.  My DH looks like a natural w/our niece as well.  It's so cute & makes you feel good, doesn't it?  We're hoping to wait like 2 yrs prob. before we have one though.  I wanna be settled into a house first.
    image
  • Same for us. we are planning on waiting about a year and a half after the wedding. That would put us at July 2012 when we start TTC, i am not a big fan of summer so i wnat to try and avoid being 7,8,9 months preggers when it is 115 outside :) We will defenitly require a pool if that were to be the sistuation :)  I am so excited, i can't wait for summer so you two can be out here, i feel as though we are already becomeing good friends Big Smile

It feels great to see him be so comfortable around little ones, even his small cousins he is on the floor playing with them and just has a blast chasing them around the yard, he will be an amazing dad and i am sure your DH will be too :)

    Photobucket
  • Yeah, I def. think it's a good idea to wait at least a year after the wedding to TTC.  We were married in June, so it's already been over 8 months.  Don't blame ya on the not wanting to be preggo in the summer.  I wouldn't even wanna be preggo in the summer here in PA, let alone AZ.  But I guess whenever it happens, it happens & we'll hopefully be happy w/that.  A pool is one of our requirements once we get a house too.  Pools here aren't that big, cuz people don't get to use them all that much, but I def. will use one a lot out there.  Especially until I get used to the heat.  I'm really excited too & can't wait to get out there.  It's kinda funny how you can start to feel close to someone w/out even meeting them, but I feel the same way.  This waiting is just killing me!
    image
  • LOL, you could create one of those tickers for when you guys would be moving out here. It will make the time go by faster.  Yes a pool is something you will get great use out of, when we buy a house of our own in a few years I would like to have one.  Currently we go to my parents development to go swimming :)  My cousin has the really neat net thing they put over there pool so their son wouldn't be able to fall in, if he did he would kind of bounce back up.
    Photobucket
  • I never thought of that...maybe I will.  I wish I knew a date though.  I really think I'm gonna start putting in applications like the end of april/beginning of may.  The time should go fairly quickly.  Or so I hope.  Well at least you can go to your parents dev. to swim for now.  I never heard of the net thing, but that's a great idea.
    image
  • I know it is pretty awesome, Cj's brother and SIL have a boat as well so we go with them every once in a while to Lake Pleasant, which is fu too.  Yea most people have a fence around the pool to keep the kiddes out and safe, but i like the net thing because it doesn't close off your yard as much but it will still keep the littleones safe :)  That will be so exciting when you start applying, nerveracking too i am sure.  The time will go by super fast look how far we are into Feb already. it is crazy, when i was in high school i couldn't wait to be done and everyone told me, when you get older time just goes by faster and faster and i would reply, "yea right" lol but now that i am almost 25 i think to myself. holy cow! where did the month go!
    Photobucket
  • Aww, that would be fun.  I'm not a big swimmer, but I love going to the beach or a beachy area & tubing, boating, whatever.  Yeah, it'll def. be nerveracking.  Especially because I'm just not real good w/the areas down there & I'm not sure where to stay away from.  No one really told me of any "horrible" hospitals to stay away from, but it still makes me nervous.  Also cuz we're prob. gonna move close to where I'm gonna be working.  I hope the time goes by fast.  Winter tends to go very slow here cuz it's so depressing, cold & there's nothing to do around here really besides go drinking, shopping, or to the movies.  Blows big time.  I agree about the time usually flying though.  It's def. gone faster since I've been out of HS.  I also couldn't wait for it to be over.  I can't believe it's been almost 8 yrs since I've been out though!  Surprise
    image
  • Yes i am hoping maybe this summer we might rent a couple of jet skies and go out to the lake for the day or weekend :) we shall see.  Umm i haven't heard anything horrible about to many of the hospitals you mentioned in the previous post but i am not in that industry so i am sure if other RN's replied they would know more, From what i hear Goodyear and Avondale are pretty nice areas and not to super far from where i am in Surprise :)  I remember in Cali it would rain alot and there wasn't a bunch to do either but stay inside and try to stay warm.  I know i was thinnking the other day that it has been almost 7 years since i graduated HS.  I couldn't wait to be done and now it has been 7 years.  pretty soon it will be time for the 10 year reunion... In case you haven't seen the above post... CJ got the job :) i am so excited for him and proud at the same time.
    Photobucket
  • That sounds like so much fun!  So are there quite a few lakes or places you can go swimming or boating at?  That's encouraging that you & most of the other ones haven't heard much horrible about the hospitals out there.  I hope I can get into a good one.  I'm excited to get started w/the process.  Well that's what we've been doing (staying inside so much cuz it's so cold), but it's wearing on us as we've both gained weight.  Embarrassed  I can't wait to get to AZ to be outside a lot more & hike & stuff.  That is hard to believe that we're both almost to our 10yr reunions...I can't believe how fast the time has gone & how diff. of a person I am now.  I posted above, but I'll say it again...CONGRATS CJ!!
    image
  • Thank you very much. I sprinkled some job just for you in the above post so hopefully it works for you Smile There is Lake PLeasant which is about 20 min or so away from where we live, then there is the slt lake river which i hae never been to but i hear it is fun for tubing and stuff, and i have also been to Canyon ake which is out by gilbert, i think there are a few others but i am not sure on name or locations.  It always seems hard to not put on a little "winter weight" all the warm yummy food often has a lot of calories but it keeps us warm so we just eat it any ways. And can I say i love your ticker!!!  I can't wait until you guys are out here too!  My mom works for Banner at Del Webb in sun city west which is right off of grand across from Surprise. And then there is Banner Boswell which is a little further down Grand.

    Are you on face book?

    Photobucket
  • Thanks, I saw that.  We'll need it.  Oh good, then there's def. some places to go that aren't too far away.  It sure is hard not to put on winter weight.  Especially around here, cuz you're always cold & bundled up.  And the layers of clothes help mask it, so once u get the shorts back out, it's like, "ugh!  What did i do?"  LOL  Thanks, I made it just for you, haha.  I'll have to update the date then, but I'm so excited.  Yes, i'm on facebook.  PM me ur name & I'll add u.
    image
  • For sure, it is is preety easy to fin some ways to stay cool in the spring and early summer.  I love that pictures you took in PHX did you guys o hiking out here? I am pretty sure the time will go by even faster once you have an exact date :) if your DH just as excited as you are?
    Photobucket
  • Good to hear.  I'm sure it's going to be a bit of a shock for us this summer.  Thanks, we had such a good time.  I really got some amazing shots.  Yes, we hiked Piestawa Peak.  Do you know where it's at?  I think it's in the southern part of Phx, maybe?  I about died getting to the top of that, so once we get out there, I'm hoping we can make that or somewhere like that a routine thing & get back into shape.  There were people jogging it & we were having trouble walking it w/taking breaks, haha.  I loved seeing your pics of the home improvements & the Christmas decorations.  I kinda wondered if people still really went all out & decorated down there, since it's so warm yet.  That will prob. feel pretty weird to us.  Yes, he's just as excited as I am & can't wait to get out there.  I really just wish we didn't have things to wait for...it's driving me crazy!
    image
  • Yea we still decorate, a lot of people on our street didn't but we def did.  We put up our lights and tree the weekend after turkey day. I love the Holiday season and can't wait for this year, we are going to get a bigger tree. :)

I am not familiar where that is but i think i have geard of the hike before.. Tat would be fun, if you guys are going to be in the Goodyear area you could probably hike the white tank mountains. they are fairly close to us here in Suprise.

I am sure it is hard to wait for everything to be ready to make the big move.  I don't think i could be that paitent, by the time i decided i wanted to move here it all happened in 3 weeks and eve tat was rough, i wish it would have been sooner lol.

    Photobucket
  • Well that's good to know.  That's what most people do around here as well.  We decorate like the weekend after Thanks. or whenever.  I just can't wait to have a house so we can really decorate.

I know there's lots of places around to hike, so I def. hope we're real close to one of them.  Wow, 3 wks is fast!  This waiting is just killing me...I hate it.  Hopefully it'll continue to go quickly though.  I'm just really not looking forward to the 32+ hr drive!  Yuck!

I saw your b-day is the day after mine...pretty cool.  We'll have to celebrate together some time once we're out there.  How are the wedding plans coming along?  Are you having a big wedding, what are your colors & stuff?
