Re: funny couples costume ideas?

  • One of my friends and her fiance always have great ones...two of my favorites were Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf and then a geisha and a sumo wrestler. :)
  • 2 years ago DH & I went as a "cat" & "rooster"...some people got it right away (like my mother), some just thought we were merely a cat & a rooster.

For my cat costume I wore black and bought black faux fur to create leggings, paws, & the band to attach my tail to..of course it was topped off with cat's eyes contacts.  For DH's rooster I bought a bunch of boas and attached them to a big sweatshirt with safety pins.  He sure was warm!  For the feet I cut rooster-shaped claws out of cardboard and glued yellow felt to them.

We were cute yet kind of naughty... ;)

We've also been Mother Nature & Father Time.  That was a good one too.

Ok that took me a minute hahahahha great idea...so funny!

  • I thought of a cute one the other day watching VH1.  If the girl is a brunette, she can dress in a white button down, black shorts, and black suspenders and black tie.  The guy can wear a crown and have a shirt that says "King of Anything".  I thought it was a humorous play on Sarah Bareilles's new song :)

Friends of ours went as "super heroes" one year:  He was Captain Long Schlong and she was The Domestic Diva (complete with yellow gloves, a cape, and cleaning tools).

My DH and I are going as Taylor Lautner and Taylor Swift this year.  We're making shirts with arrows that say "I'm with Taylor" plus a few other accessories.

  • Last year we went as the "all american couple". DH wore blue mechanics overalls with a wrench and towel in the back pocket. I went as Betty Crocker in a red and white polka dot dress, an apron I made with a cupcake applique, and carried a wooden spoon embelished with a red bow.

This year I think we are going to go as David Coverdale (from Whitesnake) and Tawny Kitaen (his gf/the girl dancing on the jaguars in the whitesnake video). DH and I both love 80s rock and think it is a fun couples costume idea.

  • A couple of years ago I was a flight attendant and DH was a pilot. Then I was a cop and he was the criminal.

  • One year I wore a nightgown, bathrobe, curlers, slippers, etc and dh wore a suit, had a Prize Patrol pin, carried balloons and flowers and a big check from Publishers Clearinghouse because I was the Grand Prize Winner.  :)

We won for most original costume and it was super easy to put together.

  • Last year we went to a costume party and there was a couple there dressed as "Jon & Kate" and they had little baby dolls pinned all over their clothes.  DH and I went as Pinky and the Brain.

Other costumes DH and I have done:

Little Red Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf

    Cesar and Cleopatra

Oedipus and Jocasta (This was DH's favorite because it was so goulish)

    Buffy and Spike

    Fred and Daphne

    Master of Disguise

  • I wouldn't call our costumes funny, but DH and I have gone as

Alice in Wonderland and the Mad Hatter

    Sherlock Holmes and Watson

Airship Pilot and Southern Gentleman (We were going for Victorian/Steampunk)

One year we dressed separately and Dh went as Lil Mac (from Mike Tyson's Punch Out - Nintendo Game). But he wore the pink jumpsuit that Mac wears while chasing the trainer on his bike. It was awesome.

  • We were Ken and Barbie last year
"Sweat is my sanity". Sarah Palin "Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised". Proverbs 31:30 Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • we are going as Peggy and Al Bundy from "Married with Children" . Got a wig online and the other stuff I either had already or was able to get at Salvation Army.
  • Here are some of our past costumes:

Lois & Quagmyer from Family Guy
The red team from Double Dare (perhaps my favorite)
    Amy Winehouse & Joe Dirt
    She-Ra and He-Man
    April O'Neal and Splinter
    Male & Female Where's Waldo
    Team from Supermarket sweep

I'm still trying to brainstorm for this year.

  • A couple years ago we went as Homer & Marge Simpson.  It was easy (and inexpensive) to put together, and everyone loved it.

  • My favorite funny costume we did was last year. I was a cat (kind of s&m in style, black corset top, shorts and fishnets with super high heels) carrying a whip, DH had a torn up white t-shirt that looked like lash marks. He was "P*ssy Whipped"... Klassy, I know! Stick out tongue but we won 250 bucks!
  • This year we're going to be Charlie Brown and Lucy (with her therapist supplies). I'm in a Clinical Psychology PhD program, so it's extra funny for us and our friends.
  • My sister and her boyfriend are doing Peg and Al Bundy--- biggest problem is finding a red wig which wasn't that hard.... fairly easy costume otherwise. Have fun!

  • Last year DH & I were Jon & Kate Gosselin.

The year before we were Mr. & Mrs. Potato head...really easy to put together. We took tan twin sheets, folded them in half & cut a hole in the crease for our heads. We sewed the sides together & stuffed with a pillow. We cut out different face shapes out of felt & stuck them on the body. We also took a fishermans hat & cut it down the back & I wore it around my neck, so it looked like the head. If I were going to do it again, I would make more face shapes & velcro them on so that people could change the eyes/nose, etc. We both wore white long sleeved shirts & I wore white leggings.

  • I'm sorry I don't have a good costume idea, but I just wanted to say your pups are adorable! I have a boston as well. :)
  • We're going as Obi-wan kenobi and Yoda. A little less expected than Han and Leia.
  • This year my hubby and I are going as Jwoww and Pauly D from Jersey shore...You might not watch that show so this might be ridiculous to you. But I bought a super revealing club dress and I purchased him a Pauly D wig and we are going to get the spray tan in a can from walmart and make ourselves orange, he's wearing a wife beater and we are putting tattoos on him!  And my hubby's brother and his gf are going as snooki and "the situatioin" should be really cute! Sorry if you don't watch Jersey shore and have no idea what I am talking about! hehe!
  • Thats probably the best idea I have ever heard!
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • Last year was fun for us. He was punk legend Sid  Vicious and I was the girlfried Nancy Spungen (who he allegedly killed).

This year....Kermit and Ms. Piggy. :)

  • Four years ago my husband and I went as Peg & Al Bundy, 3 years ago we were Joe Dirt & Brandy, 2 years ago we were Bill Clinton & Monica (complete with a stain on the blue dress :P - it was a big hit!) and last year we were a shotgun wedding - which was kind of funny b/c it was just a few months before we actually got married.

We haven't decided what we're going to be this year yet!

  • We went as Fred and Wilma Flinstone one year. Then Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter another. This year we are being Thing 1 and Thing 2
    Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • LOVE the pic.  We've gone as Native Americans & Pirates (well I was a wench) and this year he's going to be a Handsom Devil while I'm going to be an Angel with devil horns - quite possibly tacky but got to try to keep it interesting.  All of these costumes were done tastefully and with accessories - rather than buying a costume.

  • Last year my hubby and I were Sweeney Todd and Mrs. Lovett.  I baked a meat pie for the occasion and we hung signs on the door that said "Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pies" and "Sweeney Todd's Barber Shop upstairs."  We ended up getting two trick-r-treaters, and neither they nor their parents had any idea who we were.  It was kind of a waste, but we had fun!  This year we have a baby, and we're going as Snow White and the prince, and the baby will be Dopey.  He looks ridiculously cute with his little elf ears sticking out from under the hat.  An ex-boyfriend and I once went as Robin Hood and Maid Marion, and one year it was Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio.
  • 2 years ago I dressed up as a boxer, and he dressed up as a ring girl with a "Round 1" home made sign - everyone thought it was pretty funny.

Last year we dressed up as Romeo & Juliet, we got a lot of compliements.

This year we're doing Adam & Eve!

  • Last year, I put together simple costumes for us as Doug Funny and Patty Mayonaise from the Early 90s Nickelodeon cartoon show. Friends loved it.

Hubby just wore khaki pants, white T, and I got a green sweater vest at a thrift store for him. Also made him a I <3 Patty button with a pic of the Patty cartoon character on it.

I found a $5 light blue sweatshirt at Wal mart, glued large pink felt dots to it and pinned some dark blue fabric to a full skirt i already had. Topped it off with an awesome blonde wig ($5 at Rite Aid) and cheap pink tennis shoes ($6 WalMart)
