What's your opinion on Abercrombie and Fitch?
Good quality stuff, do you think? I don't like anything with a brand name splattered all over it like so much of A&F's stuff has, but I really like their cardigan styles a LOT. I've not really bought anything from them before because I thought it was for teenyboppers and too expensive to boot. Do you think their stuff is pretty well-made?
Re: What's your opinion on Abercrombie and Fitch?
I worked there in college and it's decently made, although a bit over priced, IMO. My real opinion on it, though, is that anyone over age 20 shouldn't wear it. It's very teenybopper.
I think it is too expensive. I also don't like shopping in the store b/c they stink it up with their cologne.
I can get the same types of cardigans, tank tops, tops etc from old navy, gap--even Eddie Bauer as well as better fitting jeans at other stores.
I also find that their staff try to hard to be non-nonchalantly "cool" which translates into "non helpful." They hire young people..either high school or college kids--which I know sounds biased of me, but they have other priorities on their mind than customer service, and I actually feel like that is part of the branding.."Image."
This isn't something you asked about, but within the A&F, Hollister, etc culture there is a LOT of turnover and backstabbing as well as shady stuff that happens. I have had three friends that worked for these companies, and both were involved in some way with shoplifting (one WAS shoplifting and the other two were being manipulated by other staff members as they were both shoplifting AND stealing cash from the store).
It makes me think the label in general is a total line of crap.
the store smells like a hooker.
lol, tell your mom i'm sorry.
The quality is pretty poor and the sheer reek of the clothes dissuades me from even going in the store.
not to mention the music that is as loud as a concert venue. The last time i went into A&F i came out with a headache and smelling like a hooker as bobby said.
Boy, that's the truth. I smelled like a frat boy all dolled up for a date by the time I came out of there. But just look at this: http://www.abercrombie.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&catalogId=10901&productId=702043&langId=-1&categoryId=12282
I just can't get over how cute this blasted sweater is. It has sparkly buttons, for heaven's sake.
i love that sweater!
I admit, even though I won't set foot in the store, I buy things online from time to time. Always on sale (because yes, it is overpriced) and usually only their sweaters. The quality is actually pretty good on the items I've bought - I've had some cashmere sweaters from there for over four years.
I just pretend that no one knows that the little moose means I got it from A&F, because I'm embarrassed that I am wearing the same clothes as a 13-year old.
Hooker.
Good quality?!? Are you kidding me? I can get better quality at Kohls, and for a micro fraction of the cost. Not to mention the service in any store is repulsive.
If you're out of college and still wearing A&F, please don't. You look ridiculous.
Did you even read the whole post? I'm thinking probably not.
I work in the business (I'm a designer) and the only categories I buy there are accessories, denim, and sweaters. All of those have great design detail and are indeed quality items. the denim especially has a lot of value because all of the wash and dry process that goes into them. the sweaters also seem to hold up well as long as you don't mind taking a sweater shaver to them after a season of wear.
I am 34 and I disagree that only teens and ppl in their early 20s should wear their clothing. I also only buy from there when it goes on sale.
Ditto.
I worked at the store when they first opened in SF. I quit after 6 months. Their corporate policies regarding hiring & work assignments are horrendous and the clothes are overpriced.
Really! Tell me more about this?
there is a ton of information out there. just google "abercrombie and fitch r" and like the 2nd or 3rd choice was abercrombie and fitch racist.
My opinion is that I'm too old for it, at 29.
I think I canceled my charge card there when I was 24?
