    Abercrombie & Fitch is racist.

    Ditto.

I worked at the store when they first opened in SF. I quit after 6 months. Their corporate policies regarding hiring & work assignments are horrendous and the clothes are overpriced.

Really! Tell me more about this?

The response to this was funny:

"We have made fun of all kinds of people, including women and skiers."

  • I think A&F is too geared towards juniors' style, ill-fitting and over-priced.  Not a fan. For similarly-styled items, I prefer American Eagle.

  • Trading on its century-old name, Abercrombie & Fitch (A&F) sells upscale men's, women's, and kids' casual clothes and accessories -- quite a change from when the company outfitted Ernest Hemingway and Teddy Roosevelt for safaris. A&F operates some 1,100 stores in the US, Canada, and Europe, and also sells via its catalog and online. Its carefully selected college-age sales staff and use of 20-something models imbue its stores with an upscale fraternity house feel. A&F runs a fast-growing chain of some 525 teen stores called Hollister Co., and a chain targeted at boys and girls ages seven to 14 called abercrombie kids. Its just-for-women brand, Gilly Hicks, launched in 2008 and has about 15 stores.

  • I intensely dislike this store. I have boycotted them since 1998 (I was a freshman in college then) when my then-boyfriend and I went to return a pair of pants and the SA sniffed the crotch to determine if they were previously worn.

    True story. This place sucks.

Indifferent No effing way!  I have only ever bought one item there, so I can't talk about the customer service, but now I'm glad I barely ever set foot in that store.

  • thanks :D that helped a lot, yeah i did notice they only sold clothes at the larger stores.

  • i personally also enjoy A&F, but yeah, they are kinda pricey. i like the fact that people aren't down your throats looking to help you. ask me once and then leave me alone. i didn't come to shop with you, i came to shop by myself thank you.

  • Fancy Handbags or Hand Embroidered Bags would be a better option for the parties. These bags will give feminine charm in every sense. You could find different varieties with different ranges in IM Shopping. This is the site where I go though before buying.

  • I don't think I've ever been more than 10 ft into one.

I find their business model interesting. Their store front seems to be designed to actively drive away customers. I guess they are going for "exclusive" with the blinds that hide the inside and the blaring music. I just have absolutely no interest in shopping in that kind of environment. I've never even spent enough time in the store to know what their clothes are like and if there is anything cute I'd want to buy. Hollister is the same way. Apparently you're supposed to be comfortable shopping half blind in there. It's so dark, I can't even tell what color something is.

So I guess I'm too old. Though honestly, I can't imagine I would've liked shopping in either store when I was a teenager either. I really don't "get" either approach.
