When I got my first period, the last thing I wanted to do was announce it to the world.
Ditto. And it wasn't because I was embarrassed or didn't understand what was happening - it's that I considered it a private matter. For the record, I also didn't throw a party when I lost my virginity either.

Well losing my virginity was kinda a (private) party in itself!  But I agree the whole issue of your first period is not something I would want the whole world to know about.

  • Wow talk about dredging up the past.
  • I like the mother and daughter bonding actives are better and not so "Advertising." What if the girl's a late bloomer, but wanted to be like her friends and lied to them about already having it or just not talking about it. I think if such a party were to be planned, the daughter needs to decide, some girls may be all about it.
