  • Summer and Bobbileigh,

I hated turning 29 but I was completely excited about 30.  The 20s weren't great for me either personally.  I dated two of the biggest a-holes on the planet and I was hoping that the 30s would just be better.  And they were!  I started becoming a happy independent woman.  I traveled to NYC with my mom twice, had some great times with my girlfriends, and, of course finally met Bill.  I think 30 might be an invisible marker that shows whether or not you really have moved into adulthood, so to speak.

    Deepthi,

I've never watched Grey's either.  So glad I am not alone in my little "I've-never-seen-Grey's-opolis".

  • I kinda want my own little cantaloupe, but I know we're definitely not in the right place for that. I still want to be able to travel easily, sleep in, and all of that. I wonder when that selfishness will go away.

I don't know Angela, but I feel you. And I don't think that's selfish. I don't think there's anything selfish about not being ready for children.

But, I think you'll know when you're ready, because the desire for a baby will outweigh the desire to do all of those other things, and the desire for your "freedom". I don't know, I'm just guessing. Because since I'm not ready, I don't really know what it'll feel like. LOL. But, I'm assuming that's when I'll know I'm ready.

I also want to experience life a little more, before bringing children into the world. Just a personal preference. A lot of people have so much to say about being "young parents", but I don't think enough is said about how beneficial it also is to have experienced life more, be financially stable, traveled(if that's something you want to do), and more mature when you have children. There's definitely something to be said for that as well, IMO.

I've heard that's good. H and I are looking for a new/old show to start watching on netflix. I wonder if Bones is streaming?

Anyone a Nip/Tuck fan? I just started watching that. I never watched while it was on TV. I'm only on season 1.

Brad and I used to, but it got ca-ra-zy! So, I had to step away when they moved their practice. If you like Dexter I think you'll like Nip/Tuck.

OOoh - LOVE Bones.  And House.
Recently hooked on Dexter and Weeds (thanks, Netflix).

Never been a Grey's fan either.

Bones is my favorite-ist show!!!!   I watched 2 old episodes last night.

I'm kind of worried what happened at the end of this season, while amazing, will ruin the show.  (I won't say what happened because I think Lacey is still watching)

ETA:  I'm sure I'm probably the last person to know this...but did any of your realize that "Bones" is Zooey Deschanel's sister IRL?   I made this connection at random a few weeks ago when looking at the "info" on FIOS.

  • I love nip/tuck.  That is one show that Matt will or did watch with me.  It is definitely outlandish at some parts on some seasons but I watched it religiously.

I agree with y'all.  I think we want "our time" together and experience things a little more before bringing a child into the picture.  We both want children, but just not right now.

  • Thanks Ladies for all of the support. It hasn't really been that long, so I am trying to keep positive. It just burns a little to see the "how long did it take you to conceive?" polls and seeing the majority of  the results falling into either taking 1-3 months or it taking 12 months +. Here's to hoping I'm in the 4-6 month minority!

BL - Randall is...oblivious I guess is the best word. He has the standard guy mentality that just doing it any old time will magically make a baby. He told me this last month that he was really surprised I wasn't pregnant yet, so we had a frank discussion about all the things he told me initially were "too much to worry about" including ovulation and timing, etc. So we'll see.

Thank you for thinking of me, but one of my stupid FB friends decided to post about it one day after she caught up.  So... I know what happens.

I am so surprised you didn't know Zooey and Emily were sisters - especially after the episode where Zooey guest starred and there were a trillion 'sister' references.  :)

Also, Zooey is getting her own show on Fox this Fall, so we will watch it.  DH is a HUGE Zooey fan, so, yeah.  Haha.

  • I don't think not wanting kids now or ever is selfish.

I don't understand why some people are so surprised when we say we don't want kids. MIL is the WORST about it. She almost had DH convienced we should have a kid, he came to me one day and said we should have one because mom wants a grandchild. I said I am NOT having a kid because your mother wants grandchildren. My mother is okay with grandpuppies, your mother should be too. Don't get me wrong we both love kids and babies, but they are just not for us. We are happy where we are at, and at this time, babies are not in the plan.

Just keep thinking about how hot you're going to be with all this working out you're doing! You'll drop the weight so much quicker after you have the baby this way!

God has a plan, just remember that. I know it's easier said than done.

And as for your H, psh, men are no help when it comes to this stuff. I'm surprised they still don't think the stork brings the baby to your doorstep after 9 months-no trying necessary. Just, bam.

  • Leslie-  I am sorry about your monthly visitor.  I understand how you would be disappointed. Try not to get too down about it...you are young and healthy and your time will come.  Baby thoughts headed your way!

Summer- I am a true weirdo about birthdays.  I don't handle them well at all...crying, pouting, doubting my life choices.  I turned 30 last October and everyone was prepared for the meltdown, but it never came.  I have never been happier.  30 is GREAT!

My friend tried to tell me that if I decided one day I didn't want kids, I should have one anyway, for H. Regardless of what I wanted.

I told her that was the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life.

Yes you make sacrifices for your spouse, but you never, ever, ever bring a child into this world if you don't want to, for someone else's sake.

That's a sacrifice I would never be willing to make. For anyone.

  • Anyone like the new show "Suits"?  I am loving it.  And I really love White Collar and Royal Pains.  And Vampire Diaries (I'm a dork).
  • Sara, when you get a moment would you e-mail the recipe to the dessert you brought to book club? I want to make it next week for my teacher planning we'll be doing all week.

    rcpm44@hotmail.com

    Thanks!

  • Bones - Yea I am worried about the dynamic too, but they have been tip toeing around it for so long, but I didn't expect Edited so it's not a spoiler (even if the whole episode eluded to it). Lacey I'm sorry it was ruined for you!

Julie - I'm with you on Glee too!

Man, I LOVE me some Bones!!  I haven't seen the last few episodes, but I have them recorded.  We'll catch up on that after our HP evenings are over :)  And Summer, yes, Bones is streaming on NetFlix :)  And I don't know what happens, so shhh pretty please!

I watched Grey's up through season 2, or maybe 3 - the last one I saw was when Izzy "died" and haven't watched it since, although I know she didn't die.  It always just made me so sad - I cried frequently during it - that I just decided to stop putting myself thrgouh that.  There's enough sadness without adding extra in the form of sad shows!

I watched the first few seasons of Nip/Tuck, but then it got really freakin weird and gave me nightmares, so I had to stop.  That was like season 3 or 4 or something, I can't remember.

  • Lacey - Oh thats no fun!!

I LOVE Zooey too, oddly.  She is adorable.   I remember the sisters episode, but I probably didn't know who she was at the time.  I'm not really good with names/remembering actors.   I don't think I knew who she was until Yes Man came out.

Yeah I've heard that Nip/Tuck just got waayyy out there towards the end. H used to be an avid watcher but he said towards the end he stopped watching because it was just too weird and crazy.

  • Is there a reason why you are doing so many push ups Angie?  I always have to do them girly style too lately and I just discovered the spider man push up and I love it way better than the regular.

  • Leslie - hopefully next month will bring better news!

I watch Grey's but I gotta agree that it's probably time to wrap it up.

We just got back from Costco shopping, and getting my car registration renewed.  Payday money seems to fly by.
