I almost put *Tuesday* randoms in the subject line.
Re: Wednesday randoms
T and I (and my brother) went to the beach last night. The water was warm again! It hasn't been warm since last Tuesday. I am amazed at how quickly the water temperature can change.
Longest week ever!
I am so ready for Friday (and even more ready for next Friday).
It is a long week.
What is next weekend?
Next Friday is my last day. We are having people up next weekend as well, but I'm really looking forward to a couple of weeks off.
Oooh yeah, that will be nice!
What are you going to do - any plans?
I had a rather harrowing evening yesterday. My cat was accidentally let out by one of our (adult) houseguests who apparently didn't realize it. At 10:15 last night, I was getting ready for bed and called the cat, filling up her food dish. She didn't come. I got out her treats and shook the bag. She didn't come. I started to look in closets and cupboards, hoping she had been accidentally shut in. Nothing. At this point, I began to suspect that she had gotten out and I started hyperventilating and freaking out. I didn't know how long she had been gone or whether she had gotten out the front or the back door. I looked under the deck (her favorite spot outside) with a flashlight and didn't see her. At this point, I was almost hysterical, totally fearing the worst. A few minutes later, she came up to the slider. Ultimately, I was only looking for her for about 15 minutes, but it felt much longer.
The houseguests are all leaving today and I'm pretty relieved about it. I've learned that I'm a great hostess for ~3 nights. After that, I start to get cranky. LOL.
Well, it changes daily (literally), so beware. We went last Tuesday and it was warm. Wednesday, Friday and Sunday it was freezing. Yesterday it was warm again. Hopefully it will stay warm all week!
It also varies considerably from beach to beach. On Friday, L said the beach in South Haven was ice cold. On Saturday, Grand Haven was pretty chilly, but tolerable. On Sunday, Hoffmaster was quite nice. On Monday, Hoffmaster was cold enough that the kids were coming out of the water with blue lips.
Thanks for the warning! I had no idea is fluctuated so quickly!
Yeah, my cat is pretty much my baby. I don't blame her at all. She only gets let out when we're out there watching her.
This week is killing me.
I'm swamped at work, doing both my job and a good portion of my boss' job this week. I was looking forward to her being gone, but now I'm ready for her to come back. The extra work is too much. And on top of that, I realized that we made a big mistake on an invitation that went out last week. Both her and I approved it before it was printed, but this morning I realized there was a problem with it. So, I've been trying to get that fixed this morning. It's not too big of deal, but that sinking feeling when you realize something like that is the worst.
I've also been really busy with my extracurriculars this week. I was gone all last night and will be gone all tonight too.
Plus, there's the heat...
It's just been an exhausting week.
But I'm really looking forward to this weekend! We're having a family reunion and I get to see some cousins who I haven't seen for a long time. I can't wait!
Definitely not her fault...scary for momma! Stewie is pretty much like a second child for us too...I tell him "Wait til' your father gets home!" LOL
Your cat's name is Stewie? Like from Family Guy? I love it!
Yes, from Family Guy. My husband chose his name, he loves that show. I have to admit, I think it is pretty funny too.
We have some woods in our "backyard" and I think she might have been in there trying to chase frogs. She has no claws, though, so I always worry that she'll get into a losing battle with a raccoon or feral cat. And then I worry about mosquito bites and heartworm (yeah, I'm crazy).
She was out for somewhere around 1.5 hours. That's happened before when she was younger--she would sometimes bolt when she was outside under our (read: L's) supervision. I would freak out then, too. When L asked me to backtrack our steps to when I last saw her, it was before we all had dinner and that was 8:30-9:00 ish. She came in right around 10:30.
That is always fun! Sorry to hear about your rough week! Happy hump day!
Sorry you're having a rough week and good catch on the mistake! Would it be mean of me to quote your post from last Friday about your boss's vacay?
Seriously, though, with all of your extracurriculars, I don't know how you keep it all together! Enjoy your family reunion. Are you headed up north for that?
You are not crazy...just a loving pet owner. That is scary that she was out that long!
Diana, yeah, I remember my post from last Friday. I take it back! And yes, we're headed north for the weekend. I cannot wait for the deliciously cool weathers of the north country (although, even they're pretty hot right now).
Amachuta, the more I think about it, the more I think Stewie is a perfect name for a cat. First, it's adorable. Second, cats have a lot of similarities with Stewie from Family Guy -- thinking they're far superior to everyone else and whatnot.
Random: Five years later, I have B convinced that we should have named Jinx "Zumaya". I wanted to when we got her (it was right in the midst of when Zumaya was kicking ass for the Tigers, and I thought Maya would be a cute nickname). But he wasn't on board. However, now he's told me that I can change her name. A little late, my friend!
Amachuta, I agree that Stewie is a cute name for a cat. L gets to name our cats as well (thus, Gandalf and our previous cat was Ultra Magnus nn "Maggie" of Transformer fame).
LOL at B changing his opinion on Jinx's name. I remember that you two had a tough time coming up with a name you both liked. I can't believe it's been five years since you got her--time flies!
S/o Jinx, did you have her appt yet?
That totally describes me. Anything longer and I'm wishing for the visit to end.
We had a really hard time naming her. Zoey was relatively easy, but Jinx was tough. We had a couple of names (like Lily) that we both liked beforehand, but then once we got her, they just didn't seem to fit. So then we were back to square one (and you all know how long it takes us to make a decision!). I also wish he would have let me name her Phoebe. That was another one that I really liked. Ah, well. She mostly goes by Jinxy, which is pretty cute.
Her appointment is next Thursday. I'm expecting them to tell us that she's still doing great (she hasn't shown any signs otherwise), but it's still makes me nervous when they whisk her away from us and we sit and wait.
I have to say that I think it's great that you both last three nights. I like to have houseguests, but after two nights, I'm getting frazzled.
Hope your week gets a little less stressful Kasa.
And DP that is very scary about the kitty! Wrigley will try to sneak out all.the.time. and one night when I was in bed I had a mini-freakout because I hadn't seen her (she always comes around when I'm getting ready for bed and in bed). I was convinced she had gotten out and we didn't know it, was frantically searching for a flashlight to go find her almost in tears imagining the worst when Andy found her in the spare bedroom under the bed.
