Re: Thursday Randoms
My Muskegon CWs are the best. They bought me Bernie O's pizza for lunch yesterday and gyros for lunch today (in addition to some breakfast pastries from Ryke's). I should quit more often! I really hope I can stay in touch with some of these peeps.
I can't believe tomorrow is my last day.
And thank you all for listening to my incessant rambling about last days, costs of law books, etc.! I do have a bit of a one track mind lately.
I'm drooling! They have great taste! Where were the gyros from? Greek Tony's? The Pita Place? I just had the Pita Place on Tuesday, and a gyro from Greek Tony's a few weeks ago and it was so delicious. :::oink oink:::
I really wish my CEO would post the numbers from the blood drive so I know if I can take Monday off or not. Boo. Hurry up!
Normally he is really quick. Like...our blood drive ends at 4:30 and the email is out by 5. It ended at 7:30 last night and its almost 1 the next day and still nothing. Boo.
Pita Place. And I shared Greek fries with my favorite CW. Yum!
I name dropped totally for your benefit.
lol.
Molly, sorry to hear you couldn't find your keys. Bummer.
Wop, glad to hear that you mom is feeling better and there isn't anything serious wrong. Still sounds scary though.
Mira, Hi! Super cute sig pic.
GRSP, I use stilltasty.com for food safety questions.
Diana, your lunches this week sound delicious!
GR may lift the composting ban. MLive link. Whoopee!!
Thanks!
I know that this was our biggest blood drive yet and that we produced over 100 units which could potentially save over 300 lives. Extremely proud of that.
I just hope my people showed up...hehe
Right now composting any material except yard waste (grass & leaves) is illegal in GR. The city commission is reconsidering.
The Grand Rapids Press just did story this week about how it is illegal to compost (other than yard waste) in the city. The city is looking at changing it.

That is so weird!
Hoek, I didn't see your post before typing. Are you an illegal composter too?
Mol, I meant to congratulate you on your donation yesterday. I know you've tried in the past, and that it means a lot to you. Well done! And recruiting others: YAY! Hope you're #s allow you to relax on Monday.
Yay for awesome coworkers! And if I had a big life change coming, I'd be talking about it a lot too. :-)
I think it was GVSUbride who first directed me to that site. So, I can't take credit. But I do find it handy!
This is cruel and hilarious all at once.
CEO sent an email with "Blood drive results" as the subject. Inside said. "It was a success! More info to follow later."
lol.
LOL at your CEO's email, Molly. Torture!
The conference call I had scheduled for 2:00 with my regional person just got pushed back 20 minutes. Boo, this pushes back my departure time by 20 minutes. I'm all done for the day other than this call. I want to get out of here to run errands and clean my house.
My parents composted within the city limits when I was growing up. I grew up with a yard adjacent to the Blanford Nature Center. We don't right now, but would like to start. So we keep an eye on news like this. We like seeing the progress and the move to complete streets! Composting and bike lanes for everyone!
Quite hilarious. Why bother sending this out at all?! Fingers crossed for good news for you!
You had your baby?! Hooray! Sorry, I'm a little out of things on here. Hope all went smoothly.
No way! That's great.
Welcome back!!! Looks like you had an amazing time! Any highlights you want to share?
Oh my goodness. Way too many. We saw so many friends and so much of the country that it would almost be a disservice to leave any out. But there are a couple:
The wedding of my friend in Portland - initial reason for the trip - was beautiful and so much fun. It was an outdoor wedding and Portland had been cold and rainy for the two weeks prior to the big day. That weekend the skies cleared and they had 82 degrees and bright blue skies. It was held at an herbary among the lavender fields. Just gorgeous. We danced all night and had a blast.
Another highlight - but more of a head-smack highlight than a fun time for us - was the very kind cop in Washington who pulled us over for having a headlight out. Upon running XN's license and the car registration, the cop came back to inform us that both had expired on XN's birthday...more than a month ago.
He is always VERY good about renewing those things and it never even crossed my mind to make sure those were up to date before leaving. OMG...so I figured we were totally screwed. But miracle of miracles, he let us off of all three infractions with a warning!! XN spent the next morning on hold with the Secretary of State to renew them...
