Re: B&M Monday
He let you sit outside PREGNANT at noon in August, for an hour, while he visited with his aunt who started smoking even though she'd been asked not to? I'm sorry... maybe this was ok with you, but I'd have been ticked. 10-15 minutes is one thing, but I really don't think you should have had to sit on the porch by yourself for an hour.
Suggestions? I need something that will give me weekend hours if I want them, and be flexible. I do not want to wait tables. I was thinking maybe a Care Now clinic or something like that?
I figure I can try working, and if my classes are too demanding I can quit. Because H and I don't need the money. Anything I make will be saved, so the extra money will be nice but not necessary.
It's been years since I looked for part time jobs. I don't even know where to look. :-/
Would you be interested in working on campus? The pay might be crap for most positions but that's an option.
Yeah, I have to agree with this one. If she knew ahead of time then mine and DH's agreement would have been that if she lights up, we both say "hey, great to see you, gotta run" and leave together.
Then again, if this was your agreement and you were fine with it, then that's cool too. You are a more paitient woman than I.
His 2nd cousin (age 8) and I sat outside (surprisingly wasn't too hot) and played with the dogs and talked. DH said he thought I went to the bathroom at first and then realized it had been a while and tried wrapping the conversation up with his aunt but she wouldn't shut up. If she wasn't literally dying and could go any day now (and yes the cigarettes are a big part of it but she refuses to quit) I would have been a lot more upset but I figured it could actually be the last time he sees her and it didn't start feeling like a long time until about 15 min before he finally got out. His cousin yelled at her later and told her how rude she was and that she wouldn't be the least bit surprised if I never came over again. I felt bad about not visiting with her but she knew the rules and I stuck to it.
H suggested that but I'm really looking for something where I can get the majority of my hours in on the weekends and keep the weekdays open to study. That's why I assumed on campus may not be such a good option, because I assumed most of those jobs would be M-F.
Maybe look for doctor's offices that offer weekend hours? Mine just started doing this and I can't imagine too many of their M-F workers just jumped at the chance to work the weekends...haha.
Most of them will more than likely be M-F but the nice thing about working in a position like that is there is not a lot going on so you get to study during your working hours. Of course not every single department is like this but it's been my experience over the years.
Hmm...that sounds doable. I will look into it! Thanks!
Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking. That's why my mind went straight towards the urgent care facilities because they're always open weekends.
TWU Career Services- you can look for jobs that require a degree or not.
What about a bank teller? Does UTA have part time job fairs?
If I was in your position, I would look to something on campus. They are always flexible and understanding when it comes to class schedules/needing to study etc. But, if you are looking for something to get you some experience in the medical industry, the urgent care is a good idea. You may also want to look at a hospital. They are always open 24/7, and I bet have many positions that you can apply for. I know my grandpa would have to have a "sitter" in the room with him all night and anytime family wasn't there because he would try and get out of bed (and fall) or rip all his tubes out. There may be something flexible for you.

I can't really B&M, I had a great weekend! Sadly, one of my MIL's brothers passed away last week, but I don't think Courts really knew him. The good thing that came out of it is that my MIL is going to go visit family this week, which is good for her. She had been planning on doing it, but putting it off.
So, this week we're staying at MIL's house to take care of her animals. It's fun for us, we get to pretend like we still live in Denton, and save on gas and commuting time. We also got to babysit SIL's three kiddos on Saturday and had a blast.
Last night I went to the Rose Room to see a friend compete in the Voice of Pride singing competition, and she won second place! It was so fun to see her perform, and I was so proud of her.
My great grandmother just fell and is on her way to the hospital. She is 89 and could use all the ju-ju you have to spare.
I'm sorry to hear about the death in the family. Prayers to them.
Great weekend! Always good to hear about a perfect weekend.

Leslie, I'm so sorry. I will keep her in my T&Ps.
Summer - all I can think of is retail. Which is not what you are looking for, I'm sure. Except - think of the employee discount you could get...

I thought I was supposed to send you a PM about it since I couldn't post....soooo YGPM Serlace!
I hope everything goes well with the various people who have sick family members!
My B&M is that I have to pack the whole apartment ourselves since DH will need to work about 60hours/week to tie up the research he was working on (before he leaves). And I'm totally overwhelmed and don't wan't to pack something and then need it.

Today is so quiet. I think everyone is just grumpy because its Monday. But to me, a silent office makes the day draggg on! :-)
Has anyone seen Cowboys and Aliens? If so, what did you think of it?

I want to see it!
I actually love packing up. But, I don't require much in my day-to-day life -- for instance, since I don't cook, the first thing I packed up in my last apartment was everything in the kitchen. Next I packed up/sold everything in the living room -- I just left my computer and TV.
The thing I wish I'd done was literally live out of a suitcase. I had left WAY too many clothes to fit in the backseat of my car. Probably 3 suitcases' worth, not 1. Oops.
DH, my two best friends, and I went to see this and personally I didn't like it. The boys liked it but the two girls didn't. I saw some holes in the movie that were obvious and it honestly just didn't fit.

I wanted to see it, but one of my best friends (with whom I have identical movie tastes) was SUPER disappointed in it. We were both excited, but she said it was completely useless and overwrought... so when we got to see a movie the other night (strange!) we went for Captain America, instead! I can give that movie two hearty thumbs up!
