What we do Thursday

Re: What we do Thursday

My take on getting pregnant/having babies:  I loved that part of my life and I'm also glad that it is over.

Going to look at a dining room table on Sunday!  We found it on Craigslist.  This will be our first Craiglist buying experience.

    image

This table is FANTASTIC. Love it. I'm so impressed with the high quality of stuff on the DFW Craigslist. Do the chairs come with the table?

I would never advocate having children irresponsibly, so don't hear what I'm not saying... but really? Anytime you have a baby, it's going to be hard. Major changes, major expense, major emotion, major surprises. Have one anyway. You won't regret it. :)

This is exactly the argument I have with myself.  I'm fairly certain we could swing it financially and be fine, but I know that if we waited about 6 more months before trying, we'd feel a lot better about it... so I keep telling myself, what's 6 more months of waiting?  And that is the side of me that's currently winning... but man the other side of me is a complainer haha

Honestly, we were the same way. It would have really put a damper on the whole finishing school thing for me if I would have gotten pregnant in the last four cycles as I would have delivered during the spring semester. Looking at it from five months in though - if we would have waited until May 2012 to start trying and had it take 6+months like it is currently...I would have really regretted not starting sooner.

This is not to say that you should jump on it right now because it didn't happen right away for me. There are other girls on this same board who got very lucky, very quickly...so my reasoning may very well be bunk for you. :)

Sara - Summer is in school and was super crazy busy during the summer session. She might come back now that fall is starting if she has more time but she also may have kicked the Nest addiction we have all formed during the last few months...either way, I miss her around here too.

Does anyone know where Summer has been hiding?  (Not the season, the person!)  She always had funny things/comments to make and miss the laugh.

School is owning her life right now too.  :(

    BOO.

  • Everyone should have babies!  Then we can all have play groups and stuff!!

I love Sprouts and am way sad that I don't pass the Flower Mound one anymore. Central Market has the same stuff for WAY more $$$. :-(

Yes they do--but he the seller has already emailed and said it will be gone by Sunday.  I'm so mad!  Oh well.  I'm sure we'll find another one.  Ben is going to try and see if we can see it tomorrow and snatch it up but I'm not sure we can.  So far our Craigslist experience is a big fail.

  • One of my co-workers has been getting creepy fb messages from a made up account (steven smith) that tell her she is beautiful and perfect, they have a crush on her and one day may be brave enough to tell her, and that they love seeing her every day at work.  CREEPY!  Its been going on for weeks and at first she responded just to see if it was her ex being a jerk but through some questions we have figured out it is someone who does work here.  She has stopped responding but we think we may know who it is and if it is this person he is 21 and she is in her 40's.  It is SO weird.

Hahahahha I'm picturing you passing out babies and party hats for everyone on the board :)

  • In totally unrelated news...

I'm currently shopping for outfits for our family pictures in 2.5 weeks. It's frustrating. BUT, I just found (and immediately bought) a t-shirt for Dottie that says, "My Mommy has cooler tattoos than your mommy" and has a sparrow kind of similar to mine, so the day isn't a complete loss. :)

    There's a Sprouts in Southlake.

Super cool!! You are such a hip mama - you give me hope that I'll stay "cool" when I become a parent Cool

I really wish we had something like this close to us. Out here, it's Wal Mart or HEB. Once a month, we make a special trip to Central Market. It's expensive, but it's just so much BETTER. I'd love to have a Sprouts location anywhere within 45 minutes of us.

We go to Central Market every two weeks to buy meat and a few other things.  We also make sure that's a week that we don't need or normal staples (things that CM doesn't carry).  I also make a point to go if I see they have a great sale on beef or chicken (honey habenero beef fajitas--please return soon!).

They have SUPER cute stuff! Such fun! I ended up going with a bubble dress from Janie & Jack. Now everyone has clothes for pictures... except me!

  • I definitely have babies on the brain :-p

I have never tried Sprouts either but I know there is one not far from us.  I guess I should check it out!  I always like getting my groceries cheaper! :-)

I don't really have anything to AW right now but congrats on everyone else's stuff!

I saw this, too!  So sad but so sweet at the same time.

  • Y'all are a bad influence on a girl that's promised DH to wait two more years to think about kids. :) I've been dreaming about kids all the time lately, although they're more like nightmares because something always goes wrong (I drop the kid, lose the kid in the mall, etc).

Thanks to all the time I've spent stalking photography blogs, I've already decided what I want to do for maternity pictures someday. I feel like if I confessed that to H though, he'd be very alarmed.

  • imageTiffany618:

I just wanted to share how much I LOVE Sprouts.    A new one just opened close to me last Wednesday and I've been twice already.

Their chicken/beef/pork is half the price of Kroger.   Their lunch meat is delicious and also about half the price.

I've left there with a small basket of items on two trips for far less than I would have paid for meat alone at Kroger.

Wow, just wow.  How did I not try this place out sooner?

Do you know about double ad Wednesdays? 2 weeks worth of stuff (the previous week & following week) is on sale!

  • My aw: I have been slowly purging my closet over the last 6 months. I haven't bought anything new (except for replacing stuff) in that time and have only gotten rid of about 50 things. Last night I did all of our laundry and decided to do a purge before we move. I got rid of 25 of DH's things and 125 of my things!

Well, don't keep it all to yourself - share! Wink

Yep!  I went last night for that exact reason. =)   Thanks though!

I know some of you guys have been to The Melting Pot before - is it good?  Is it worth the price?

I think this depends on what you want out of it.  My mom and I LOVE it while Matt absolutely hates it.  It is a great experience; can be fun or romantic; and I love all the things on the menu.  Matt is a picky eater so he eat very little and the fact that he has to wait 2 min for small chunk of chicken to cook pisses him off.  It is expensive so be prepared for that we typically spend around 100-120 for two people.

If you go with DH make sure you ask for one of the romantic booth, they are candle lit and have a little curtain across the front so its private and romantic.

I love it! Romantic table also = around a corner and kind of isolated ;)

  • Angie - I think the Melting Pot tastes really good...but not really worth the $$.   There are a lot more/better places I'd rather spend $100+ on dinner.

They have a very romantic ambiance, but for me personally, all is destroyed when they set the plate of raw meat down in front of me.

Now, if you just went for appetizers and dessert... I'm 100% on board. :)

hahaha thanks for the warning.  So, do you cook the meat over a flame, or what?  A friend of mine said something about it being "boiled meat" which sounds a little scary...

You're boiling it in oil.  Super healthy.  :)

I've only been to Simply  Fondue--the first time I went, I loved it, the second time, not so much.  It's sort of like a novelty to me--something I only need to do once or twice in my life.  But if you've never been, then it's definitely something to experience.

We go once a year more for the experience, the food is good but you can find many other places with better food for $100.

They fill the pot with a "cooking liquid" of your choice then you do boil it but it tastes good.

Most of the time you are actually poaching it in broth.
