Sleepy Monday randoms

Sleep

OMG, I'm tired.  I had one of those nights last night where I couldn't turn my brain off.  I laid awake worrying about work, and my other work, and everything else.

And now, I've got a ton of work to do today, and then a meeting tonight.  Booooo...

Re: Sleepy Monday randoms

  • I'm not that excited about today.  H is off, but instead of spending it with me and the little man he's going up to Cedar Springs with his dad and hanging out on the property they have up there.  So he'll be wet and muddy when he gets back.  At least we'll have the evening together.

  • Kasa - Sorry about the work over load. I hate it when I can't stop thinking stuff like that.

xDx - Hope you have a really nice evening!

  • I think Renee and I are going to spend the day cuddling in bed.

Aww!  I wish Noah would still cuddle!  Have a nice time cuddling with the cutie!

  • I had the worst drive ever this morning.  A paper is due this morning and we have to turn them in between 8-9 a.m., so I left home at 5a.m. since it usually takes 3 hours, thinking that would give me an extra hour for traffic or whatever.

Yeah, traffic was hellacious--worse than I've ever seen it.  I got off the freeway and drove the last 20 miles on surface roads through the city.  I got to see the real Detroit.  Wow.  Scary and sad.

My paper was 10 minutes late, but I emailed the prof from traffic.  We'll see what happens...

  • Kasa, that was my last Monday night.  I hate my brain and it's inability to shut off sometimes!  BLAH!

I am super tired today too...we have all been sick.  Noah is now starting to feel better, but I still feel crummy.  Not a good combo for me who has no energy to chase him around.

  • I didn't get much sleep last night either.  DH left for a work trip yesterday and I never sleep well when he's not home.  What a way to start the week.

So at the advice of one of my co-workers I bought a new Marzetti's caramel fruit dip.  Its the Sweet and Salty version and OMGosh!  It is SO good.  I dipped it in granny smith's but I cannot wait for honeycrisps to come out to try them with it.  YUM!

Sweet and Salty caramel dip?? Ohhh. That sounds really good. I love salted caramel so I better check this out.

  • Tennyson has (undiagnosed) croup.

He had a horrible cough on Saturday and was breathing really deep and heavy.  I was going to take him to the ER, but ultimately decided against it and just kept up on his inhaler.  Thankfully the inhaler worked wonders.

On Sunday, my daycare provider called to let me know that she took her son into the ER on Friday night and he was diagnosed with croup.  So, I'm going to assume that's what T had.

I called his doctor this morning to see if there is anything further I should do, and the nurse said we're good.

  • I crack myself up.  I just closed my office door and did 10 minutes of yoga in an attempt to fine some energy from deep within.  Desperate times...

    I feel slighly more clear-headed.

And now I also feel rather nausous since I did yoga with a belly full of coffee.  Ick!

Aw, bummer.  What a rotten way to start your week.  I hope your professor is accomodating.

Poor T.  Hope he feels better soon.

  • So Noah's birthday is in a couple of weeks and I really have nothing planned so far.  I am so not good at this cute party planning thing.  I am feeling adventurous and would like to bake his cake myself and thinking a monkey is in order since that is my nickname for him.  So should I do a round cake pan and frost it to make it look like a monkey face?  Can you tell I have no idea what I am doing? Stick out tongue

We attempted to make Allison's cake for her 1st b-day. We got a cupcake pan since that was the theme. It was deep on the cake part and not so deep at the bototm. We did a few test runs before her party but could never get the cake to burn evenly, it was over done at the bottom and slightly mushy at the top. So that cake turned into Allison's "smash cake".  It was a mighty big smash cake for a one year old. Smile

Here are some ideas, the hargest thing would be to frost it if you used a cake pan.

You need to create a separate post and I bet Tiger and other Pinterest folks will give you a ton of ideas. Tigers likes to plan b-day parties and has some great websites that she uses.

LVila is a kids birthday party planning genious too.  She doesn't check in here as much anymore, though.

  • I hope everyone that is sleepy gets a jolt soon.  Treat yourself to another pumpkin spice latte maybe, Kasa? :-)

DP - Hopefully the prof is understanding, the reasonable part of me says a professor would be silly not to accept it late with a legitimate excuse such as yours.

  • Can I just say how awesome it was to be home for a weekend?  Seeing as how I haven't been home for a weekend since . . . August 13th?

Friday I shopped a bit while Andy brewed, then we bowled and had some drinks w/friends.

We lazed around Saturday, watched some football with friends and then went to a very fun wedding.

Sunday was more laziness mingled with some family time.

I barely got anything accomplished around the house and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT.

  • Jumping in to say "HI!".

It's out anniversary today so Ry and I are trying to spend some much needed time together.  Hope everyone get to enjoy something wonderful today.

    Hugs!

  • Hi pals.

My class this term is going to be great.  On Friday my husband called at 9, and I snuck out to take the call.  Willa and Henry took a tumble right before I had to leave class, and I was worried he was calling from the ER.  Nope, he was calling to ask me to stop at the store on the way home for supplies.  Our 2 dogs were skunked.  Jim couldn't do anything for them because the kids were in the bathtub.

Stinky, cold dogs.  We had to wash them in our driveway.  At 10 pm.  With the hose. It was awful.  So, we tried a mouthwash rub that we read about online.

And there was still a faint odor the next day, that a 4th washing didn't take away.  So, the car smell like skunky mint.  Ew.

My parents' party went really well.  I'll start a new thread in the pm, when I've uploaded a pic or two.

  • Boss and I had a come to Jesus moment this morning.  She told me I've been crabby lately.  I've told her she's been crabby lately.  We discussed our workloads.  And she agreed to take on a couple of my projects and allow our intern to work some extra hours so that she can handle more of the load too.  And at her suggestion, I think we're going to push off a couple of the events on my list until next year, so that should help too.

I'm feeling better about things now.  And I'm also feeling more awake thanks to additional coffee and impromptu yoga.

And I'm going to try to be nicer too.  Angel

  • Happy anniversary, Deeder!

Juli and GRSP - glad to hear your weekends went well!

GRSP, poor dogs.  And poor you guys for having to deal with the skunkiness!  No fun.

  • GRSP- if the dogs still smell this is the recipe that worked on Gracie last month:

1 quart hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, 2 tsp blue dawn. mix and apply to wear the dogs got sprayed.

I'm sorry the curious pups got sprayed, I know how much of a pain in the butt that can be! I since have had a long talk with Gracie about Pepe Le Pew, and the importance on not investigating kitty's with big white stripes.

This sounds really positive. I hope things continue to work out!!

  • Mira, that's what we used.  I think Greta's double coat of water-repellant fur was working against us.  Also, Jim had to leave them on the porch for an hour until I got home, and the spray got to dry on them.

Kasa, I'm glad you and your boss were able to clear the air, and your workloads a little.

  • GRSP - Oh nos!  Hopefully the pups stay away from the stink next time.  I'm actually surprised G or T haven't been skunked yet.  *knocking on lots of wood*

Kasa - Yay!  Sounds like your workload got a bit more reasonable.

    Deeder - Happy Anniversary!
