Whoever made the comment about losing weight during the holidays was right that it's hard.  An order form for popcorn from Boy Scouts just appeared on my desk and they deliver the week of Thanksgiving.  I always feel like I have to say 'yes' when everyone brings their kids fundraising things around.

Not me.  I say no every time, even to the attorneys.  If I bought something from every one, I'd be broke.  Plus the stuff is always crap.  I hate those things.  I don't let Mel participate in them, I just make a donation to the school instead.  Especially since it's not Mel that has to do it, it's us.  I'm not going to beg my co-workers to buy that overpriced junk.

The neighbor kids constantly hit us up so we have a rule that we buy from the first kid to get to us. Last fundraiser we bought from a kid whose mom isn't very well liked in the neighborhood and got crap about it from the other neighbors. It's ridiculous.

You have the most dramatic neighborhood - it makes me laugh when you post things like this Smile

In other news, I just ate a baked potato with pulled pork, and now I want a nap.  Bigtime.

    Mmmmm baked potato...

I made chicken salad from some crock pot chicken I made the other night. If y'all haven't tried the cracked pepper/olive oil triscuits, you should.  They were great with the ck salad!

Hopefully you are feeling better than this morning?

How are your parent's house/town?  I was thinking about them this morning.

Feeling much better, thanks!  Food fixes everything :)

I believe that both of the fires are out now... the one that was closest to my parents was apparently out before I even heard about it, but the website I was checking doesn't get updated often and my mom didn't have her phone with her.  The other fire was bigger, but neither destroyed any homes.  It did come really close to one house (a lady I've known forever, she sings at my parents' church), but then the wind suddenly changed directions, and even the fire chief was amazed by it.  Pretty neat stuff.

BL- I have your salsa chicken in my crock pot right now.  I'm very excited to go home for dinner!
    ME TOO!

I will never take Matt with me grocery shopping ever again.  He only put junk food in the basket. Unacceptable.

  • Reebok agreed to a $25M settlement regarding their claims that their toning shoes were more effective at toning your butt and legs than regular shoes. I have always been leery of these "Shape-Up"' type shoes.

I feel like today is just a bad day overall and I have a math test, which is the crown jewel of a sucky day.

My college roommate wore those religiously. She would swear they were making her "skinny".

  • Courtney and Michelle let me know what you think of the chicken, its one of my staples.

RE Shape-ups and the others like it I always thought those were a scam and the people that would workout in them were really risking an injury.

I am jealous of all of you vacations, I really want to start planning an anniversary trip but I dont know if we can afford it yet.

Human-Animal relationships are disgusting.  I saw the picture and some of the caption and that's all I needed to see.  Gross.

I had to recheck the website to make sure this wasn't The Onion.  It would be a great story for their paper!

I had my jaw on the floor the whole time I read this. He actually said the dolphin initiated it and he hasn't loved another since. People are actually defending him!

  • BL- Will do :) It smells d'lish. I think I might add some more black beans to it.

Deepthi- I'm looking at UTSouthwestern position. Which department do you know the hiring manager in?

BL- I'll let you know tomorrow how it tastes.

I know - I love how the dolphin "suggested" it - I didn't know dolphins were so suggestive.  It totally makes my skin crawl, so I had to share it with y'all.  So gross.

  • That dolphin story grosses me out.

DH and I have always wanted to buy my aunt and uncle's house and told them to let us know if they ever wanted to sell. We spoke about it as recently as this summer and they told it us it would be at least two more years, which we were happy about because we knew selling our house would be hard in this economy.

That being said they called us last night to let us know they were listing the house today and wanted to offer us first chance at it. We are bummed because we don't think we can sell our house and we can't lease it out because we couldn't carry two mortgages if we didn't have a renter.

Anyone want to buy a three year old 3/2/2 in Fort Worth? Smile

  • Speaking of moving....

One of the houses next door to one of our former houses is for sale.  I have always wanted to move back to that neighborhood and really wish it was an option for Bill and me.  However, I don't think driving back and forth from the White Rock area to Grapevine every day is really an option.  I would really like to move back to Dallas proper.
