Say Anything Wednesday

Just checking... but, "Friday, at the very latest" doesn't mean the same thing as "Wednesday morning, if I ask real nice" does it?

Yeah. Didn't think so.

Re: Say Anything Wednesday

  • How was the day off?  Did y'all go to the Zoo?

I'm leaving for Chicago in 10 hours!  Yay!  Ok, gotta go get work done before I leave, so behind!

It was SO great. Just what we needed, and I didn't feel guilty about it one bit. The Fort Worth Zoo was nearly empty, and we got to sit and watch this one chimp for like 20 minutes. She was doing all sorts of tricks, and imitating Dot, and showing off... really playing with MY kids. It's pretty much a highlight of their lives, for sure. I really appreciate y'all encouraging me to just go... I needed the push. :)

Have SO much fun in Chicago! One of my favorite cities!

    I dont think so either.

I was gone for most of the day yesterday but saw you ended up taking the day off and getting the kids.  I can tell you my parents used to do this once a year or so when I was a kid and they were always some of my favorite times.

  • I have family that lives in Australia, whom I've never met. Randomly, yesterday I got an email from one of the cousins and he'll be in Dallas today!!

So we're going to meet for dinner before he hops on a Greyhound. I picked Uptown since it's on the DART line.....

    Does anyone have dinner recommendations?!?!

I'm really not familiar with the area, so don't know which restaurant to pick. Keep in mind that that he's pretty young and traveling RTW - so it needs to be not too fancy and not too expensive Big Smile

  • I am excited that I can finally post from my phone! Yay! But it doesn't like to put spaces in between the lines so I apologize in advance! Chelsea - I am glad you enjoyed your day off with the kids :-) I go see the new doctor today so I am feeling a little more optimistic about things and I really hope she can help me :-/

  • We are going back for a second look at a house today. We saw it yesterday and it just felt "right" to both of us (despite needing more cosmetic work than the rest of the houses we've seen, and being the smallest out of all the ones we viewed yesterday).

I was talking to my parents on the phone last night and we were both looking at the online pics of this house. We realized the kitchen laminate is the exact same we had in our kitchen growing up, AND the carpet in the family room is the same carpet we had in our family room. So, no wonder it felt like home to me. It practically IS the house I grew up in.

(Amusingly enough, replacing those two floors are the first two cosmetic changes I want to make.)

Hope all goes well with the second look :)

  • Marie SD:  I think that's pretty cool.  It's like you are taking your childhood home (cozy feeling, etc.) and making it yours (new floors, etc.).

I got a facial on Monday and I am pretty, 100% certain that I am allergic to whatever it is they put on my face.  I wanted a facial to make my skin soft and to feel pretty.  Um, not so much.  I have a rash all over my face.

    It's raining here!  I love rain.  :)

  • Lacey - OH no!!   Sad

I've already made a fool of myself this morning.  Off to a great start today. :)

  • I woke up to rain.  I love that!  Wish I could have stayed in my pjs on the couch all day like I did Sunday but I'm not going to let that stop me from loving the rain.  SD was so excited she asked if she could wear her rainboots to school.  I said of course.  They don't go with her outfit at all but hey it's been a long while since she has been at our house on a rainy day so why not!

I'm 99% sure DH and I agree on a name!!!  I suggseted Caroline on Sunday and he shot it down pretty quick.  I still love the name and this morning he text me "what do you think about Caroline Anne"?  I'm not super fond of the combination but my mom's name is Anne and he said she has done so much for us that he thinks our little girl deserves the name of someone so selfless.  I thought it was so sweet that he cared enough.  Caroline has been my number 1 for a few months now so I'm happy with it!  We haven't actually talked about it in person but the fact that he is thinking about it make me so happy!

It also sounds like YH is listening to you and trying to compromise, which is great!

  • Tiffany - at least I don't have client meetings today.  :)

Dana - Oh I think that's a pretty name.  And what a wonderful way to honor your mother.

Side note to all Clinique fans:  It's bonus time at Macy's.

  • Our a/c wasn't working last night.  I don't know anything about how those things work, but I walked in the house and immediately knew it wasn't working - even though James had been home a couple hours and hadn't noticed.  We have a portable a/c unit for the garage, and he hooked it up in the bedroom and vented it out the window, so we slept great... except that the vent hose kept moving & making noises, and scaring Crispin, who would wake me up cowering against me.  I'm really hoping we can get an after-5 service call, because I cannot leave work early this week, and J can't leave school... so, fingers crossed.  We are going through our home warranty company, and they pick the service company, so it's not like we could call around and find someone who will come after 5...  I'm really hoping that the whole unit is cratered, because the warranty company will pay to replace it, and it's super old.
  • So I've decided to buy the new iPhone... this is big for me since I haven't bought a phone in over 4 years.  Surprise  My question (probably a dumb one):

Does anyone know if I can just go to the AT&T store like Saturday/Sunday to get it or will it be not be that easy?  Is there a wait list or something?  Please help!!  TIA!

*winces*  All I can say is good luck with the warranty company.  Your going to need it.

I don't know much about it, either, but I will tell you what I do know.  :)  DH is buying one and he pre-ordered it the day it was announced.  So, all he has to do is go in with his packet/card thing and pick it up.  I don't know if you can buy one if you haven't pre-ordered one.  But, I think you might be able to pre-order them, still.  Also, he pre-ordered it through Best Buy.  So, I don't know about AT&T or Apple.

Wow, I just realized this was probably not helpful at all.

We've used them before for repairs and had good luck - we're actually on our 3rd year with them, and they've fixed the a/c before, the kitchen drain twice, and the oven... but we've never had (or needed) to replace anything.  We're really hoping they'll call time of death at 8pm last night on our a/c, and just replace it, rather than fixing it again (although, the last fix was a small one).  And since it's cool out and we have the portable unit, we can dig our heels in and wait and make them make it right... fingers crossed, though!

  • Dana - I love that name.  I think "Sweet Caroline... BUM BUM BUM!"  :)  I also love the name Charlotte.

Just a general note... attitude is everything.  And bad attitude won't get me to do things for you any faster.  Kthnx.

Oh, that's good!!   We had our inside unit replaced earlier this year and while they paid all the labor and parts we had to pay over $800 for "code upgrades".   It also took more than 2 weeks.

Glad it isn't hot right now though, I know that will help you guys out!

The recessional song at our wedding!  :)  I just love the name but it is the song they sing at the Red Sox games so it has meaning and a connection for DH so it is even better!

  • Leslie... I have some more info on the tv remote issue, do you want me to email you about it?  I don't have your email address....
  • Dana - I love that name too!  I'm so glad your husband is coming around!

Amanda - here's what the AT&T website says:

Because of high demand, the ship date for your pre-order device is expected to be:
    iPhone 4S - 21 to 28 days
    iPhone 4 8GB - 10 to 14 days
To get iPhone 4S as soon as October 14, AT&T retail stores will have inventory available for eligible customers while supplies last.

     I hope this helps!

  • Hi ladies!  I have been on a bit of an "internet hiatus," but have been doing some lurking here and there.  It sounds like everyone is doing great and has lots of exciting things coming up/going on!

Book Club Girls-  I missed you all this month!  I am hoping when my crazy fall is over, I will be able to jump back in.  I LOVE the book you have chosen for November.

Stephie-  LOVED the trip review!!!  I leave for Vegas on the 21st and your review made me even more excited.

Brianna (I hope I spelled that right)-  You are pretty much the reason I was still lurking.  You crack me up!

Amanda- What a crazy ordeal you went through.  I am so glad you are back on the mend!

Okay...now a question.  Did anyone or do you know anyone that went to see T. Swift last Saturday?  If so, I have some more detailed questions for you!!!

I'm meeting him at the CityPlace DART station. BUT.....after I sent him a few suggestions, he replied and told me that he's gluten-free. So that complicates things a bit.

I'll have to see if your suggestions offer something like that. Off to do more research....
