Thanks Leslie!  I'm sorry about your anniversary :-(

    <pr>

Is anyone dressing up for Halloween this year?  What are you dressing up as?

YES!!! We're still debating whether we'll have a Halloween party (I don't think we know enough people quite yet for a bonified party), but I am definitely dressing up for trick-or-treaters.

Probably will just recycle a costume from another year. My all-time fave was our trailer trash costume, so either that or Superhero Family. :0)

I'm just going to throw this out there.... if you haven't sent out word that you are having a party, it is probably to late.  I've already been invited to 4 parties.  It seems everyone wants to have a Halloween party.

Leslie - I don't think you are being petty, and after pointing out that it is the same BIL that is dating your cousin, um yeah.  I remember all that drama too.  You have every right to be upset.  Too bad it wouldn't work out to visit him this weekend.  :(

Good point. I keep forgetting that it's already October 12th. This month has flown by. No party then. Sad

  • Leslie - I would be pretty upset over the actions of your BIL.

We're going to our friends annual Halloween, but still not sure what we're going to be.

  • Leslie - I don't think you are petty at all.  Especially since you already had plans to start the floor demo, etc. this weekend.  I'm sorry.  :(

I'm sad.  We got invited to a friend's Halloween party but we can't go since I already promised my dad that we'd go with him to Little Rock to see some elderly relatives. So, we'll just be wearing them when we pass out candy on that Monday.

    Amanda,

My advice to you is to either order it now (and see if you can pick it up in two days) or get in line a bit earlier than you originally planned.  I waited a month after the iPad2 came out and thought I could walk in and walk out with two (one for each) but nope.  We still had to wait three-four weeks before they came from China.  Welcome to iPhone ownership though!!!

Thanks Julie.  I will look into pre-order and I'll call up there.  I am so excited to be an owner of one! :)

I'm dressing up as Alice in Wonderland, and James is going to be the Mad Hatter (Tim Burton's version).  I'm sure it's going to be a popular costume, but I don't care - he was actually excited about it when I showed him a picture and asked if he'd wear it, so I jumped on that opportunity.  We're going to my neighbor's party, I think, and maybe out too.  And then I'm probably going to dress up again on Monday night to hand out candy, just for the fun of it :)

From the way i understand it, and the way it was explained to me via Apple Employee. Is that the pre-orders for this phone launch will not be shipped to the store. but instead to your home. It could differ from store to store though i guess.

As it sits right now if you "pre-order" - the phone will be shipped to your house in 2-3 weeks. Just a heads up :) i'd call your local store though. It could also be different if you are purchasing NOT through an Apple location. note the crazy people like my husband who will be camping out. Sometimes i like his impatience :)

  • We have to cancel our T-Mobile contract at the end of the month when it's up so we can switch to AT&T and get I-phones.  I'm not looking forward to it.

I just got carded for lotto tickets.  I had walked 10 minutes from my job with just the money for the tickets, no ID.  I threw a hissy fit, told her I was 42 years old, had a daughter who was a senior in high school, told her my DOB and held up my ring and said "Look, I'm MARRIED!"  There was a line of people behind me too.

She still wouldn't do it.  Luckily the clerk next to her let me have them.  Probably just to get me out of there.

  • Oh, I forgot to say WHAT we were doing to Halloween.  The 29th, when everyone is throwing parties, we will be going to CS for a football game.  BTHO Missouri!  If we get back in time, we will go to SIL's house as it is her birthday/Halloween party.

I keep seeing everyone telling Leslie that she is not petty, but in skimming I read "pretty".  Every time, my mind goes," wait... what? how could they say that?!?!" then I reread and realize what y'all are actually saying.  D'oh!

i've never bought a lotto ticket. i kinda want to now. Then again - i've only been carded ONCE for alcohol. which i've always thought was weird - especially because i look alont younger than i am - and i'm pretty young as it is.

I got carded for a drink recently--I don't remember where.  However, I laughed while getting my license out.  I'll be 37 in less than a month.

Usually I enjoy getting carded but today it was just irritating.

Ashlee I was getting tickets for the pool we do at work.  If you go, make sure and take your ID!

I was honestly a tad bit disappointed the night of my 21st birthday. I ordered a drink (well 2 on accident actually) at a resturant - didn't get carded.  I thought it was a little bizarre. But it totally killed the mood lol.

  • I always find it jarring when I get carded. I mean, I don't mind... people gotta do their job. I just am always surprised someone might thing I was under 21.

It actually happened to me last night. We had left the zoo and gone to dinner at Blue Mesa, and I ordered a margarita. I'm sitting there with my 8 year old and 18-month-old and husband. I got carded. If I was 20 years old, that would mean I'd had Jack when I was TWELVE. I laughed and gave them my ID, but jeez...

  • I've worked at a few different wine shops where I had to card every.single.person that bought wine. Seriously. So I was asking old grey-haired people for their ID's. It was kind of ridiculous.

Most people found it to be pretty funny, but a few people would get REALLY upset with me.

I also think that quite a few places have the policy that if the person appears to be under 35, then you have to card them. Either way, I always thank someone when they ask me for my ID. Wink

  • ...and the hits keep coming.

After being assured by our accountant if we let her file our taxes a certain way we would owe nothing, we just got told we owe the IRS $1000. We owe the tax prep person $300.

Also, I got a return email from our insurance company and infertility coverage = zero.

It's a bad day. I want to skip class and go home.

This made me almost hit the floor. Sucky sucky news all around.

ETA: P.S. If I could email you some cookies and a drink, I would. I think it's ok to skip class every once in a while.

  • I just recieved word that the owner of our store is flying in in the morning to come see how everything is running. I'm so nervous. I can barely type. lol. Luckily, my store manager said he wont be there very long, like an hour or two, since he has to visit 2 other stores. whoo hoo!

In food news- My Halloween cupcakes I'm making for some of the people at DH work came out FANTASTIC! Thank you, Buddy Valastro(the Cake Boss) for saying on one of your shows that putting the cupcakes in the middle of the oven will cook them evenly, and not make them over-done. You rock, Cake Boss! :)

Hmmm...wonder if I should bribe him with some cupcakes?? thoughts?? LOL!

Aww...I went as Alice in Wonderland last year!  I don't think we get to do anything this year because we have a wedding on the 29th when everyone is having parties.  :(

  • imagelesalyric:

    Sara - Welcome back!

Marie - Good luck! And just a tip - the Home Depot in Lake Worth is usually slightly cheaper on flooring than the others. For example - the tile we bought was $0.49/sq ft at Home Depot Lake Worth and $0.79/sq ft at the 35/Basswood store.

That's an awesome tip! Thank you!

You only have to be 18 to buy a lotto ticket.  And it's not like I wanted beer or cigarettes, sheesh.

Leslie, I am so sorry--that sucks!

BTW, their pineapple mojitos are AWESOME!!

  • Leslie, I'm sorry... I think you need bubble bath and wine.  Together.

Sooo... let's say that there is someone you work with who frequently does something inappropriate, in the body/grooming/hygiene department.  It affects you only minimally.  Do you say something?  Or just pretend it's not happening and hope it stops soon?

Sadly, a lot of insurance companies don't and won't even help out with a visit to them to see what you might have to do.  I know a police officer who got one treatment covered and it failed.  They couldn't afford to do any others so that was it for them.  Thankfully, they adopted a boy and they are expecting a child next year (just happened).

I also think that insurance companies, in order to be a little more proactive, should consider covering something like lap band.  If they did, I think they'd save more in the long run with people who end up being type II diabetics.

It amazes me everyday what i find out insurance doesnt cover. However i did have my yearly a week or two ago - and i was thrilled to discover my new chinsey insurance covers it 100%. I'm having to adapt to different insurance. After getting married i lost my coverage through the military...*sigh* i miss tricare :(
