Re: It's Thursday!

  • It's decided!  We're doing the Zoo goes Boo with my family for Henry's party.  Here's hoping the weather forecast remains accurate: it's been mostly clear and high of 57 all week for Saturday so far.

I think we're going to do a baked potato bar for lunch here.  Carnivores (and creative herbivores) what toppings?  I thought Jim could make his turkey chili, and we'd have cheese, broccoli, sour cream, and bacon (is that a thing?  bacon on baked potatoes?).  What else?

Here ya go: Spicy African Peanut Stew

Last time I made it I used my immersion blender on it, cuz I felt like being destructive.  It didn't get nice and smooth, I think because of the chickpeas.

This is one I actually prefer: Spicy African Yam Soup

I end up adding more spices to that one.

But I have the ingredients for the first one on hand, so we're going with that one. :-)

First one looks good. The second link doesn't work for me though! I'll google. Thanks!

Oh, yeah, that's a thing. Either bacon or ham. I would also offer chives or green onions.

    Potato bar toppings.

For a work function last year we did a mashed potato bar and put the potatoes in glass. Our chef thought I was nutso for doing this but everyone loved it. :)

(not recommeding it for Henry's party, just sharing).  Although you do the mashed potatoes ahead of time and keep warm in the crockpot (it you can salavage it. hee hee).  You could put potatoes in bowls.

Thanks!  I forgot about that. I think I am/was on their list.  Hm.. signing up again.

Guys, what the name of the big party supply on 28th st near Target.  It's not Party City, is it?

Yes  right next door to new Aldi and Staples or Office Max - whichever one it is.

  • The crockpot is saved!!  Saltwater did nothing but it reminded me that we have sea salt which I used to lightly scrub.  Viola.

This is very exciting! It clearly requires excessive ! use.

  • Thanks pals.  It's for a job that I am 90% qualified for (per the listing), but just by looking at my resume, they should be aware of that missing 10%.  This is with an organization that I would like to - I think - intern at and work at beyond my master's degree too, so it would be super awesome to get in now.  And, it's crazy-close to my house.
