Re: Chit Chat Thursday

  • It's been 5+ years since I got a speeding ticket and this morning puts me back at 1 day. I was late leaving the house to catch the train. I normally am not a speeder, because if I speed I tend to get caught (ie today), but I didn't want to miss the train. Well of course I missed the train had to drive in and now have a great ticket from FWPD. I was a crying mess earlier, now I think I'm ok and just pissed off I was speeding in the first place.
  • Deepthi, that really sucks I am so sorry and knows it throws a wrench in your whole morning.

I am at home today.  I got really dizzy at work yesterday around 2:30 and it didnt get better so I had to leave my car and have Matt come pick me up (which he was an ass about at first but then was good about it).  My stomach is still acting up when I eat so I just havent been eating anything except crackers and bananas and I think the lack of calories for 4 days just caught up with me.

  • I am actually happy about the colder weather. And I got to wear my new dress! :-)

I am really hoping people will be out of the office today. They have been driving me crazy. Also the people up here are just mean. They indirectly say things that are just not right. :-/

  • Deepthi - oh that is a really bad way to start the day.  :(

BL - I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I love the weather today.  But, I would be just fine with this being the coldest the temperature gets all winter.  :)

  • I am married to a 15 year old. DH and his friends decided to get revenge on this woman who called code enforcement on my neighbor for building a shed in his backyard. How? By TP-ing her house.

She was coming out of her house this morning as I drove by and as childish as it is, her face was priceless.

My wine box costume is really coming along. I am going to finish it tonight, I'll try to remember to take a pic.

  • Mark and I have cut the majority of unhealthy carbs out of our diet and I have lost over 5 pounds in the past 2 weeks.   It's been surprisingly easy because we aren't really dieting, just making smart choices.  I'm WAY excited to see what results we will get.  (Although, I'd pretty much kill to eat pizza right now)

I can't wait for boot camp to start.  I'm going for mega-results.

Yay for cutting out unhealthy carbs and losing weight as a result.

I have done bootcamp style workouts before and seen great results so I am really excited too.

  • I was rushing to get out of the door this morning so instead of eating at home, I packed a small baggie of Cheerios.  Apparently, I am still a 3 year old.  More Cheerios have landed on my desk or the floor than in my mouth.
  • BL - I'm sorry you don't feel good! I hope a day of rest will have you back to healthy again.

Re: Weather -- I lovelovelovelove this weather. It's my favorite. I can't wait for colder temps!

Re: Bootcamp -- I'll admit, I'd like more results. I feel like I'm busting my butt, and I'm not seeing a whole lot of difference. Other people say they can see the difference, and I'm down a pants size, but I still feel like a whale. It's somewhat disheartening.

It's okay Sara, you are in good company!  I have never had to get out so many stains in my life than I have in the last week.

  • BL - Hope you feel better.

Leslie - I love the I married a child comments! It always makes me giggle. Was DH able to see her face?

Tiffany - Great job on the healthy choices.. That's why it's said losing weight is a life style change not a diet. Did you just lower the proportion of carbs or cut out certain carbs?

Sara - I do that with popcorn! I don't know how it happens but popcorn will get everywhere.

I am feeling the same way today Sarah.  Sadly everyone is in and just as gabby as yesterday so I keep turning up my volume and tuning everything out.  Part of me feels bad because I have no idea what certain people have been telling me over the last hour and a half but part of me doesn't because they are probably still B&M about something that happened on Tuesday.

I'm really bad with popcorn too Deepthi and DH makes fun of me when he finds popcorn all over the living room.

  • My husband has been working nights this week, and it's kind of lonely. This happens every once in a while, and when we finally do get to spend time together, we're both so off-kilter because neither of us knows about the tiny daily details we omit since we only get to periodically catch up. It makes telling a story hard since there are little pieces of backstory to fill in along the way. Also, it's rough when I don't have help with the baby at night.

In other news, there is a Day of the Dead festival in Denton this weekend that I'm really excited to go to.

I get this. My friend and I started working out/eating better together. She wanted to lose 25 pounds and has lost 30. She has gained muscle definition in her arms and looks great. She is down to a size four in pants.

I have lost 60 pounds but have no muscles that can be seen and am definetly not a size four. Some days it is really hard for me to feel great about my progress when I still have a ways to go. Regardless, I have done a lot and am proud of myself. You should be too!

Remember that you are amazing for doing what you are and that you are actually working harder than everyone else as you are carrying extra weight. It was a real eye opener for me when I had to pick up a 50 pound bag of soil and realized that used to be on my body every day. You are awesome!

  • BL - Sorry you aren't feeling well still.  I hope you knock this out of your system soon.  Do you think you got food poisoning from the fair?  (You did get sick right after that, right?)

Deepthi - Ugh, tickets suck.  But if it has been 5 years since you've gotten one, you're doing pretty good in my book.  :)

My Aw, I had been having horrible sinus problems since the middle of last week.  I went to the dr on Tuesday b/c my headache would NOT go away. She gave me a steroid shot.   I've felt like a new person these past few days.  It is awesome to have clear sinuses.

Leslie, you're the best. Thank you. I needed that today. I get down on myself because everyone in the class besides Mack & I are skinny little things, training for marathons & whatnot. I appreciate being reminded that I can't compare myself to them... but I CAN compare myself to MYSELF 6 weeks ago, and I'm definitely kicking the old Chelsea's arse. :)

    imageimg
  • Chelsea, I will second that you can only compare yourself to yourself and sometimes the scale is not the best way to track progress.  When I start a new routine I keep track of little things like on day 1 my waist size was X and I could do X number of push ups and also take one of those awful before pictures.  Usually when I look back after a month or two the numbers and the picture have changed drastically.  I also hate that this is motivation but looking at those before pictures (when I had 3 chins and Matt now lovingly refers to as my blob pictures) keeps me on track.

Michelle, yeah I got sick immediately upon getting home from the fair and I am not sure if it was the fair or just something going around.  I also dont think the stress I have been under has helped any either.

I think my stress is somewhat resolved I had a reassuring convo with HR yesterday that while things arent peachy around whats going on, no one will have any long lasting damage caused by the stuff that has happened.

Y'all should probably be jealous because I am meeting Tiffany for lunch today. Don't hate because we are awesome. Stick out tongue

I know we've talked about this ten times but what is everyone wearing for Halloween if dressing up? Only for those willing to spill the beans of course...

  • I admire anyone that can do boot camp.  I don't know what it is exactly but I used to take a class at my old gym called boot camp and I could barely get through it--lots of sprinting and stuff that I am not good at.  I hated it.

BL, there is a terrible stomach virus going around--several up here at work have had it.  So that could have been it.  Glad the work thing is better.

Sarah, are you at a new job?  I couldn't remember if you were just looking for one or you started a new one already.

I decided when the alarm went off today that staying in bed another hour sounded much better than going to kickboxing but now I feel guilty and wish I had gone.  Cold weather really makes me lazy.

Yes, BE JEALOUS! ;-)    Also, most of you know now that my Halloween costume now involves a very old prom dress.  It also involves something Leslie has a lot of.    Two clues!    Can anyone guess?

Deepthi - Actually, DH has slightly elevated triglycerides from his recent blood work so we have cut out white rice, white bread, etc etc.   We did not really eat unhealthy at all before, but switching from grilled meats, veggies and white rice to grilled meats and only veggies, or veggies and whole grain rice.  Also, making smarter (but still delicious!) choices when we eat out.   Huge difference.

    I am jealous.

I am not going out for halloween but we are doing a big work thing and our departments theme is haunted forest so I am going to be an evil fairy thing.  I am super excited about our pumpkin decorating contest, I am doing Angry Birds pumpkins!

  • I've been trying to cut out carbs and it's been hard, especially since DH loves bread and rice and refuses to give it up.

BL - If you have food posioning and didn't let your body rest it won't go away. Take a break girl! Hope the things at work figure themselves out and it's not that sup who's causing issues.

We don't have anywhere to go this year so we didn't get costumes. I need to study and take like 5 tests by Sunday night so it's a blessing in disguise

Her costume is super-clever though. I laughed really hard. Any guesses??

  • Leslie - "try to remember"???? No ma'am, you better set a reminder on your phone or something - I wanna seeeeee!!!!  And, that is hilarious about the TP!

Chelsea - down a pants size is pretty impressive!  I've lost 12 pounds over the last 5 months, and I'm still in the same size.  I keep thinking, how on earth was I squeezing into these pants before?!  But anyway, losing a pants size is a great accomplishment - revel in it, and pat yourself on the back for it!  Focus on the positive, and before you know it, there will be even more positive results to focus on, like rocking a 2min wall sit :)

BL - I'm sorry that you're still feeling bad, but I am glad to hear your work situation is improving!

I'm semi-glad to be back in the office today.  My sis and I made monster cupcakes, and they turned out super cute, and everyone loves them.  Does it make me petty that I'm really enjoying everyone's compliments?

I'm going to be Alice, and James is going to be the Mad Hatter.  I still need to get some white tights or leggings so my legs won't be too cold.  We're going to a neighbor's party, and we went two years ago after we just moved in and it was a little awkward.  I'm hoping now that I know a few more people, it'll be more fun.  I get very shy at things like that though... so, fingers crossed that it's fun.

I laughed so hard when I read this.

I'm going to be a cop and DH is going to be an inmate.

Angie - I love your costume idea!

  • Leslie - I'll try to post pics to FB tonight, but I know my sis put one or two up.  We just made a bunch of bright colors of frosting, and then used Trick or Treat candy to make monsters.  There are some lollipop eyeballs, taffy tongues and teeth, Oreo bat wings and gravestone, that kind of thing - and none are the same.  They were lots of fun to make, and turned out really cute!

My boss told me that if I'd put as much time and effort into my tax returns as I did my cupcakes, I'd be a pretty stellar employee... I told him if tax returns were as fun and delicious as cupcakes, I might!

  • Oh, I went crazy nuts on Pinterest last night.      I tagged something on the "everyone" board (strawberries dipped in greek yogurt and then frozen) and I got about a dozen emails where literally a hundred people must have tagged it from me.

    A little overboard, much?
