Re: Thursday Randoms
Before scrapbooking got huge, there was an incredible paper store out kind of near the airport. We bought all of our wedding invitation supplies there. I loved our invitations. Jim still says I should be doing that for a little part time job ... End of paper store memory haze. I'll have to check out that store, Kasa.
Amachuta, I love the new pic. Your little family looks so sweet.
I'm excited to get the Christmas stuff out. We're going to start this weekend, and probably do the tree next weekend. Doing this will also allow me to do a major inventory of what we have boxed up in the attic for the (someday) move. Yay!
I'm going to be a Keurig scrooge. I don't get it. Maybe I'm not in their target market, but I love grinding my own beans, and don't mind waiting an extra 30 seconds for my first cup of coffee. And then I like to warm up the cup I have going. I probably drink 3 cups in the morning, and when the light on my coffee maker turns off, I cut myself off. Is anyone else puzzled by the Keurig craze?
I finished our decorations last night. I had a blast decorating, with Christmas music rocking in the background. My cats also had a blast with the boxes and wrapping materials.
I'm not really sure what a Keurig is, although I've heard it mentioned before.
I haven't paid much attention because we don't regularly (or even semi-regularly) drink coffee.
Amachiuta - great family pic!!!
I think I am finally getting over this cold. Yeah!!!!!!
HA! That makes more sense. I don't think I'm very alert or coordinated before coffee, so 30 minutes would be anguish.
We just found out that DH's Gma had a stroke last night and has lost the use of her left side and some speech issues. She 90. DH's Dad just posted it on FB. DH only found out b/c Metro called him early this AM. DH thought he might be coming down with strep throat last night but wasn't sure. He doesn't want to chance it to see Gma if he does have it.
Ryan hasn't seen or spoken to her since late Aug b/c of a fight between Ryan and his Dad. FIL doesn't want Ryan involved with Gma because "it cause problems". More reasons why FIL is a big Douche Bagg.
I hope she recovers well. I don't think it's fair for parents to try to control their adult child's relationships with others.
Thanks. She had a major heart attack a few years back and recovered. All Ryan has wanted to do is improve her quality of life while her kids just wait around for her to die is seems.
I went to the SOS on lunch today. Didn't have to wait very long (yay) but when I got up there and tried to pay with my Visa, I realized they don't take Visa.
Just as I was turning to leave, guess who walked in the door? My dad. Haha.
"Daddy, do you have a Mastercard on you?"
Score.
Aww yeah, that does sound like a mess.
I'm sorry!
Nice!
Speaking of SOS and dads... After he retired, my dad decided he wasn't ready to be a putterer, so he took a part time job for fun. Since then, he's moved up in the ranks, and works full time for less fun. He works for a company that brings leased cars to pharmacy reps, auto industry exes, and the like. He handles a lot of the logistics for this and spends 1/2 of his work day in a SOS office. Ick.
Either color is fine with gray pants.
Neutrals match with everything, including other neutrals (thanks, Stacey and Clinton!).
I've had the coffee and it's good. Part of me wants a Keurig, but it's not a good solution for me for many of your reasons. Number one being the mass quantities of coffee I consume, especially now. I also think nothing tastes better than French pressed coffee. Buying the reusable filter that you can fill with your (freshly ground) beans would be a must for me if I ever went the Keurig route (we would spend a fortune and destroy the environment if I used a disposable K-cup every time).
How in the world does SOS only take MC? They are weird about CCs though. L was really unhappy when he had to pay an extra fee to use a cc the last time he was there.
MC and Discover. I only had a V on me. Boo. And yes, 2% fee - it's dumb.
Who takes Discover and not Visa? Isn't Visa everywhere you want to be? Well, I guess no one wants to be at SOS.
Further evidence that the state is run by crazy people.
I'm ready to call it a day.
On a -super- plus side, we don't have to go to Home Depot tonight to pick up the door. My dad did it for us this afternoon.
That saved us at least an hour, probably more. Yay.
Are you landlords too?
Nice!
I'm a little jealous of people who have parents/family so close who can help out with things.
That's great to hear.
I hope she stays strong and positive.
When did she find out he was leaving? I'm glad she seems to be doing well, but I would be cautious of a crash coming soon.
Oh, yeah. I'm sure she's on high tide now, and it'll be low again soon. But today was a good day for her.
What's going on with your sister? Did the breakup stick?
Break up stuck. She basically started sleeping around almost immediately.
We've since had a falling out. I'm just exhausted with her. She is almost 24, dead end job, 4 yr old that she cannot take care of, and all she wants is to go out drinking with her friends and get attention from guys. She owes a lot of people money (myself included) and makes zero effort to pay people back. But she has no problem making weekly trips to the mall.
She's been enabled her entire life. My mother finally kicked her out a few weeks ago and claims it is for good. I'm hoping she gets her act together soon. Until then, I'm done with the toxic drama.
