Re: Three bored nesties

  • I just got really excited about Christmas.  We're hosting my parents, YAY!  We got mini quiches, are making spinach dip and salsa, and will have a veggie tray for lunch, and then for dinner we are making the turkey (breast), stuffing (yay Stovetop-family favorite), mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, homemade cranberry sauce (C's moms is to die for.  I don't like cranberry sauce and I LOVE this.  Tastes like candy), green bean casserole, and rolls.  For dessert I'm making Hello Dollies (very similar to 7-layer bars, but I think in the south they're Hello Dollies).  I'm so excited to be doing this with C.

What an amazing time of year.  Mich gets to see G, Meg gets a new house, I get to host my first Christmas.  I'm excited for us 3!

    Any ideas? Besides a turkey.

On Christmas Eve with C's family, they are serving smoked duck.  They get it from Pappa's.  I was already hesitant about it, but now with the meat aversion I totally don't have to try it (YAY!)  Anyway, that's an idea...  People do tamales for christmas, too.  I think it's for luck or something.

Hang on...wiping the drool off my keyboard...

Duck is YUMMY.  Yum. yum, yummy.  It's a bit of a fattier bird than chicken, so it's more moist and has more flavor.  So good.  Feisty - if the baby is up for it, I suggest trying a little bit.  If baby says no, baby says no.  Smile

  • 10 minutes and I get to leave work!  then I have to go to Anthropologie to return clothes.  I want the $$ back on my card asap, so I'm going to face it, but really don't want to deal with the traffic/congestion in highland village.  Wish me luck! Sad

  • I'm trying to decide if I should get G one more thing for Christmas/his bday.  I only have one "big" gift, and then a couple of cheap little things.  I feel like I should just so he at least has a Bday gift too.  But then I think I might have spent more on gifts already than he did, but I'm not sure.  Plus I'm going to have to pay to board Bella part of the time I'm gone.  What do y'all think?

If you can reasonable afford it, why not?!  I flat out told C "I got you 5 things.  I don't know if we're trying to be even, but just in case..."

    What did you get G?

I also think that you should split up bday & Xmas.  I think it would suck to have your bday so close because you get kinda gypped, even though we're adults and shouldn't care la la la (cough BS cough).  I love my June birthday--6 months until another special day!  :)

I got him a nice Michael Kors watch.  I also got...let's say a little present for me to wear for him Wink.  Those are the christmas specific gifts.  I have 2 DVDs (one is the first movie we saw together in the theatre) and a kitchen gadget for his bday.  I was thinking of getting him an inexpensive set of wine glasses for his bday too...he doesn't like that he doesn't have a full set.  I feel that's more Christmasy as a gift, but I dont' know what else to get for his bday that isn't too $$

  • I made the hair bows for G's nieces!  I posted a pic over on Houston
    image
  • I found my holiday sitter for Bella now too, so I can totally relax!  Now all I have to worry about is laundry and packing!
    image
  • Why am I the only one posting random randomness in here today?
    image
  • This will be 1477 for me.  I wonder if I can come up with enough random things to say to hit 1500 today.  Probably not, but I might try!
    image
  • So I spent all morning cleaning up the house for a 11 showing. They rescheduled to 1. Then after I load up my 85 lb 13 year old lab into my carthey call and reschedule to 3.

Now I load us all up again, and leave..I mean park down the street and spy..

    THEY DON'T SHOW UP!!!!!

My entire day has now been ruined.

I feel sorry for my pup, he looks so ashamed when I have to lift I'm into the car. Sad On a positive note, I can now bendover & lift stuff. Thus is an improvement!

Ive thought about getting him one of those, but he is so terrified of everything (including wind) that I dont think he will use it.

Oh poor baby!  Maybe you could do a makeshift one out of some plywood or something before you drop the $50 on one?
