Morning all.
I think I am going to attempt to take the kids to see Santa this morning. I feel a bit guilty because Brian can't make it and I feel like I should wait for a time that he can come. However, for the last four years, we have had the picture taken with the same Santa and I want to keep that tradition up as long as I can (even if that means, I'm stupidlly paying mall prices for the pictures.) This particular Santa works mainly days.
Re: I'ts Wednesday
I never got picture's with Santa as a kid I saw him at the mall but didn't get to see him. Dad didn't want me believing in him so I was a Santaless kid.
My Mom told me that they are going to give Ryan and myself cash for Christmas. Now I have to figure out how to spend it. I could be practical and pay bills but I don't think that is ideally what one wants to do with Christmas $$. The only problem I have is that I'm horrible about buying stuff for myself. I for see a post in the future to ask for help.
I continuing effort to be festive. I decided to decorate my fingernails. I had saw something on interest when you take tape and cut it with craft scissors and then the put tape across the finger and the tip can be a painted color with a "fun" edge. It worked fairly well except that with the colors I chose and the design on the tape it reminds me of Wonder Woman's red and gold colors. The colors are red and silver but the silver looks a little more gold. The process is pretty long because you really need to make sure the color is dry before you put the tape on. I'm thinking next time I would almost wait a day between as some of the polish came off.
Deeder, I don't think there are any pictures of me with Santa as a kid either. I believed in Santa, but I was an uber shy kids and was one of those kids terrified of sitting on Santa's lap. So no pictures.
GVSU, sorry to hear that Brian is being so weird about ducking out of work early. I think that's strange for someone in his position. I hope he feels comfortable doing so soon.
GVSU...sorry to hear that Brian is being weird about taking PTO. My DH can be like that as well. Not sure why...
Deeder...that is neat that GRNow has a thing on Pinterest. That sounds interesting. I really like stuff like that. I am not on Pinterest. I do not need one more thing distracting me from housework!!!
Kasa...glad to hear that your grandmother is making progress! It is so hard to see them go through that. I hope her nursing home stay is quick!
I am in a major funk these past couple of days. I am not sure what is going on, although I tend to get the holiday blahs. I need a day off! But getting that as a SAHM is a little tough.
This morning I was "yelling" at Noah and Stewie (the cat) to play nice. "Noah be gentle with Stewie!" "Stewie, don't swat at Noah!" "Stewie, get away from Noah if you don't like him touching you!" HAHAHA....I guess Stewie is helping see how it would be like with two human children.
It is always so sad when they are sick. Especially when they cannot communicate how they are feeling. The silver lining these days is Noah actually cuddles with me when he is sick. Otherwise he just wants to be down on the floor playing! I hope Renee feels better soon!!!
WOP, I hope R feels better so. It is scary when they are sick and so little. Luckily she is past two month, or it would have been an automatic trip to the ER with a fever.
Kasa - I hope your g-ma recoverys quickly. Hopefully being close to home and your mom will help.
Do you have family close by that can help give a break. There are several other SAHM on here, you girls should consider a babysitting co-op during the week. Once a month, once person watches the kids and the other moms get a break.
Morning girls. Hudson and I are home today and the only thing on my agenda is to go pick up groceries at Meijer and get Hudson a haircut. Its a good day for chilling at home.
GVSU - I've never taken Hudson to get pictures with Santa. I hate waiting in lines and I have no idea if Hudson would even go up there. So I'm waiting until he asks to see him.
Jim has a difficult time leaving work, too, especially since he was promoted. The "higher ups" are expected to stay late since they are salary. He's already got an hour drive home, so I hate it when he stays late or can't come home early.
Deeder - I think your nails sound cool. I found some sparkley purple OPI Muppet nailpolish at Ulta the other day and love it!
Kasa - I think that's great that your grandma is well enough to be released from the hospital. My guess is that she's going to a rehab center? Nursing homes and rehab facilities get a bad wrap sometimes. Hopefully she goes to a good one and gets the therapy she needs so she can come home. Unfortunately, hospitals can't keep patients for therapy. It'd be nice though, wouldn't it?
Wop - I hope Renee feels better soon. Hudson also has a cold. I hope he's over it by next week so he can "hold" the baby.
Babysit co-op sounds nice! I think I am going to ask my mom if she will take Noah for an afternoon during Christmas Break (she works at an elementary school) so I can go get my hair cut and possibly a massage. I think just the haircut alone could make me feel a little more refreshed! I sometimes forget to ask for help in regards to people babysitting, thanks for the reminder!
I hope he feels better! That is so exciting to think you will be meeting your little one so soon!! YAY!
Wop - I hope Renee feels better soon!
Kasa - Let's hope your grandma's nursing home stay is short. And it sounds like it will ease the traveling strain for your family, so that might help too.
GVSU - Good Luck w/Santa! Bummer Brian won't take off work, have you explained it to him like you did here to us?
Nothing much to add here. I'm tired today.
GG - I ove that OPI came out with Muppet colors. I so want them. I don't like to buy nail polish b/c I don't wear it that often so I try and find the mini ones.
My SIL posted that she is opening a daycare at her home in Wyoming. She will be able to take 4 little ones. She has talked about it in the past but it sounds like this time she is going through with it. It's also her daughter's bday today. K is turning 2 there is a party later but we weren't invited.
Yeah, That's how Dh's family rolls. The only reason I know about it because other SIL & MIL made comments about it. It's kind of like we don't really exist to them or we live on the other side of the work and not 10 miles from them.
Kasa, I know that nursing homes have a stigma, but it's the best place for her. She'll be closer to home (so, rotating care with family members), and it'll give her a place to recover from her surgery in a place where people can take care of her. Most of all, she'll be able to rest. A hospital is the worst place to try to sleep. What I'm wondering is, what are the next steps for her? Is her back stronger to deal with the collapse and twist that was happening earlier in the week?
I hope the sick kids heal soon. There are so many things flying around right now, I'm just waiting for us all to be down.
Henry's invented a new way of trying to get out of things. I ask him to pick up his room, and he runs out after a minute because "the green hand is there." I ask him to put his shoes on, but no! The green hand! He says it's the Grinch, who also gets blamed when we can't find things. We have a stuffed Grinch who has been in a box. I got him out yesterday, in hopes of exposure stopping this silliness.
Yes - a rehab or respite stay is quite beneficial for people in situations like your grandma's, Kasa. People still tend to use the generic term "nursing home" which has negative connotations, but the levels of care for older folk have evolved significantly. Still, I understand. I hope her time there will be very helpful!
I am glad the temps are going to be a little warmer for 2 days but then it's back to winterish feeling weather. Blah.
My bio mom called last night and said she was sending a check in the mail with her xmas card for me and then also sending us gifts to put under the tree. I told her that she didnt have to do that. But she wanted to. I think I am going to get a new humidifier but I think ours is non existant anymore.
Tonight I have to finish wrapping gifs for family and get them ready to ship off tomorrow night or Friday.
Ugh, not cool. :-(
Good question. It is a traditional nursing home that she's transferring to, however she is going there for rehab purposes. It's a small town and the closest real rehab center is an hour away. So she's going to the local traditional-style nursing home. I realize that there are very good facilities like this out there, however I am apprehensive to the quality of care that she will be receiving at this small-town one, if that makes sense. Hopefully, it will just be for a short time period though. I haven't heard a time line.
GRSP, the latest reports are that one of her vertebrae cracked as a result of the apparatus that they installed, and this caused her spine to twist. They have fitted her with a brace and are hoping that everything heals naturally. There's no corrective surgery scheduled at this time.
