I'm posting the good morning thread here
Re: I'm posting the good morning thread here
Hello, me. Same page there, completely.
He's not too bad most of the time honestly. Financial Peace University really helped with a lot of that. Although I was bad and didn't make a December budget. I'll pick it back up in January.
What's this Financial Peace University? Sounds like something I should look into. I don't really do "budgeting" and that is BAD. I usually know how much I need to spend on everything and how much I have and just throw everything else into savings. I should probably come up with a better method, especially if we join funds.
Erin - Hopefully you have a good work day, I mean, it IS Friday!
Mari - Do you ever get so cold that your fingernails turn a purple-ish color? I work in a lab and I am constantly in and out of freezers and cold rooms. You would think I would learn to dress warmer...
lbarr- I budget every month since I get paid weekly I know what bills to pay each week, allotting for gas and whatever lunch money I may need. The rest goes into savings to help FI fix up the house, but that's just my bills FI's got a lot more bills than I do so we struggle there more FI and I are going to have to some serious budgeting when we get married.
Yeah Financial Peace University sounds interesting.
Sounds like fun! I am going tonight to the Nutcracker! I am so excited! Then we are going to dinner at the Cheesecake Factory! Love that place!
Hope you feel better, most of my job is talking on the phone as well, I hate it when i'm sick.
Ooooh, have fun tonight! We are doing tomorrow day. Tonight is the zoolights. We went last year and had so much fun. Sam loves the trains up there. It is one of the things he is really in to. We want to get on the smaller version of this one train (I don't even know what, haha). But there are only 2 of the original size ones left, each in museums. Fun thing is that we will get to see one of them this summer, so I'm looking forward to seeing the size difference.
Sorry you aren't feeling perfect, Erin. I hate when that happens. Not being able to talk, when you job requires talking must be hard.
Sorry guys, didn't mean to run off leaving your with questions. Financial Peace University is a 13 week (I think) class offered at all kinds of churches and other organizations across the country (and Canada too judging from I know Habs went through it too). It was started by Dave Ramsey and it has a lot of wonderful advice and tools to help you better manage your money and get out of debt so you can give more and do more with your money and your life.
Check it out here: http://www.daveramsey.com/fpu/home/
There's a tool where you can find a class near you on the website. If it's offered at a church, you do not need to be a member or attend their services at all. They're just a facilitator.
It's worth every penny. You get a kit with a book, CD of all of the lessons, special perks and a lifetime membership. Like FI and I can go back to any class anywhere for free if we need to brush up on the whole course or just one lesson. We'll most likely go back when we get serious about buying a house because there are some lessons on that as well.
It's amazing and has changed so many people's lives. Dave himself was bankrupt and in debt. He's sharing how he was able to get out of debt and live like no one else with the rest of the world.
Sorry about the mini-commercial. I got excited.
KA contacted me spontaneously today and asked me to send her a copy of a thread with the messed up timing so she can talk with IT about what's going on.
Fingers crossed everyone that TK will be fixed soon! I don't like TN very much.
Oh cool! That sounds interesting, maybe FI and I will look into that. Sounds like it's worth looking into, we have got to get out of debt!
That's great, I hope that they get this fixed soon!
Totally worth looking into it. If you go through it, just remember too that everything is just advice and you don't have to follow or agree with everything in it. We sure didn't agree with everything, but most of it has been extremely useful.
Mica, I hope you're right. Why did it take so long? Can't she see the wonky threads?
Okay I will keep that in mind, oh and speaking of disappointing FI's, mine just texted me, "Hey baby I found this adorable black puppy!" I'm like, "umm we have two cats, your room mate has a cat, and we don't have a fenced in yard, not to mention we are in debt and vet bills are expensive enough for the animals we have." Now I feel like the evil woman who's cancelled Christmas. I told him, "I promise we will get a puppy just wait until after the wedding, when things slow down some and we are a two income family and gotten our debt down."
Yeah, we have the house but it's still a fixer upper which costs money and we just don't have the money to spend on fixing the back yard up and then have a fence put up. I promised him that we will get one, just not right this second, gah he's like a kid sometimes. I will give it to him, the puppy he wants is ADORABLE but will also probably be a big dog it's a border collie/husky mix.
