Re: I'm bored, ask my anything!

  • Have you ever asked a lady when she was due just to find out she's not pregnant?

What kind of car/vehicle do you drive?
A white and somewhat battered 2002 Mazda Protege - I never remember if it's DX or what since they do those designations differently from the Honda ones I'm used to, but it's the middle-range one.

What color are the walls in your house?
The colors that came with the house: downstairs, except for H's office) is the perfect butter yellow . Upstairs & H's office are soft gray. I do want to change that in some of the upstairs rooms eventually.

Did you grow up in W. WA?
Nope, I was born and raised in a small town on the southern Oregon coast. My parents divorced when I was young and when I was in junior high, my dad moved up here to Bellevue. I spent half of each summer during all my teen years in Bellevue so I was pretty familiar with it by the time I went to college in Tacoma.

Do prefer tea, coffee, or hot cocoa?
Mochas - so coffee I guess. I really don't like drip coffee though, I prefer espresso with something added in (what the add-in is depends on the quality of the espresso).

Do you think Starbucks is worth spending money on or would you rather go to a small local coffee stand?
I only like espresso so it depends on what I'm near and what brand they're carrying. I do think Starbucks is worth the money as it's the only chain that I like. I'm not used to Tully's anymore since there aren't any within easy distance of me and it makes me too jittery. I would prefer a small local coffee stand, but too often I don't like their coffee (I don't like Cafe Appassionato's roast nor Seattle's Best.) If I had my "druthers," Zoka would be EVERYWHERE and I would never go anywhere else. Sadly, now that we're in Renton there isn't any of them remotely close to me :(

Do you like decorating for seasonal events/holidays?
I love the idea of it, but in practice it ends up not happening as I haven't had a lot of space in the past for storing a lot of decorations or I seem to not get around to it. That's something I'd like to change in the new house...but first we still have to take Christmas down! :D So in general, right now I only decorate for Oktoberfest, Halloween, Fall/Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I do have a small assortment of Easter/spring stuff.

    What do you sew?
My favorite thing to sew are costumes. I big puffy heart theme parties, Halloween, and dressing up (old high school drama nerd). I don't sew a lot of clothes for general wear and I HATE mending for some reason. Alternately, I also enjoy sewing home decor. I've made custom curtains for my H back when we were dating and I used to sew my friends custom-shaped pillows to match their bedrooms. My next project is an apron for my sister based off a cute ruffly one we saw in a store, and then either finish up my tablecloth refit or H's lederhosn.

    Have you ever tried quilting?
I've only made a small square quilted wall-hanging. It was ok but not really my thing.

What color is most of your furniture? (white, dark, pine etc.)
It's really kind of all over the place. Kitchen is pine and medium oak, dining is dark, LR is a mess, LOL, H's office is pine, my craft room is a mix, bedroom is a mix that will slowly be converted to medium-dark.

What is your favorite type of work-out activity?
Work-out, I'm supposed to do that? :D  It used to be dancing, but I had a bad injury and have never really been well enough to go back. I really want to get back into yoga but haven't been given the health clearance yet. So currently, I guess swimming.

Hmmm...this one's kind of hard. I *think* it's peach as there's nothing so amazing as a really good, ripe and flavorful peach!

Do you enjoy cooking or baking?

If so which one would you rather do more?

I really enjoy both but don't always have the energy or time (especially cooking when I'm also trying to figure out healthier options that work with our food likes/dislikes/sensitivities). Definitely would rather do more baking, love to bake but don't have enough people to eat it and I have a bad sweet tooth with no self-control so can't have it in the house.

Do you prefer a dog or cat?
Like both but if I could only have one, cat, no contest. Love ALL the kittehs (except the hairless Sphinx ones, they creep me a little).

    Favorite childhood memory?
Wow! That's REALLY hard! I can think of 5 immediately off hand and I don't know that I have a favorite among each since 1 is of my mom, 1 my dad, 1 my brother, 1 my cat, and 1 my church. We'll go with the last one.

Growing up, my dad was the minister of our church. My parents had a group of friends like them: the crunchy-granola, folk song, non-drug hippie types. On Friday nights for a long time, they would get together in the church library and play guitars and sing all sorts of folk or soft rock, both the 60s/70s sort, and the "old-timey" sort. I loved the camraderie, the songs and guitars, and most of the time, us kids would play hide and go seek tag all over the building. I still harbor beloved feelings for many of those songs as they just conjure up this short-lived time in my childhood (my parents divorced when I was 7) that just has this happy golden glow to it.

    Favorite genre of music?
Eesh, that's harder than you would think! I guess I would say cross-over indie rock? You know, like Death Cab, Postal Service, local now-defunct band Daylight Basement. It's easier to say the genres I don't like: reggae, twangy country, misogynist/heavy gangster rap, most of the auto-tuned to death crap on the radio these days.

Craziest thing you've done in your life?
I'm not a risk-taker so haven't done anything really crazy in the terms you're probably asking. I did do one "hold up hands and back away slowly" type crazy thing once in my life, but um, I can't share that on the interwebz and it's a LOONG story.Embarrassed Suffice to say I was legitimately hysterical.

Any daring stunts you want to try on your bucket list?
No I'm pretty conservative when it comes to that stuff. I HATE adrenalin rushes and get nauseated and dizzy ridiculously easy. I don't even like most ferris wheel rides Embarrassed

Where is the place you want to travel to the most?
I've been there twice before but it's now been 10 years since I was last there. France will always be in heart and mind and because it's so important to me, it's something I REALLY want to go with H and share with him. I know it's not super-exciting or exotic, but oh well.
