Dear Pesties
I miss ya'll (most of ya'll) and wanted to say hi. Things are going well. I still have Athena. Nobody has come forward for her. She and Apache are inseparable. I had to take Apache to the vet today and DH said Athena cried the whole time he was gone. I'm not ready to post her picture for the world to see yet, but I will one day so ya'll can see how big she is. She went to the vet on Tuesday and weighs 17 lbs. Probably 18 - 19 now. The vet is estimating that she is 8-9 weeks old.
When I say things are going well, I mean very well. DH was able to get everything changed that needed to be changed. We are beyond excited. At the moment we are putting re-enlisting in the military on hold though. He has an interview next Wednesday at the Department of Juvenile Justice. I honestly think that would be his niche. Pestie T&Ps go a long way so if ya'll could send some our way that would be great 
I know I'm friends with most on FB, but for those I'm not I just wanted to say hi and I hope you are all doing well.

See, I have fun calling you out for being not a whole truth teller because you called people who FIGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM idiots. You know there are women on that board who husbands, siblings, friends are in the military and to say something so flippant and immature is disgusting. I also don't believe a damn thing that you post.
I, however, would not put a photo that belongs to someone else on TN. I just find it hilarious you're not ok with a picture of your dogs being posted when you have a picture of your kid.

Il tread lightly bc I don't want to slip and share something you haven't posted. You know who I am IRL and I appreciate your discretion so I will give you the same courtesy. I am glad things worked out for your dh with the military. I think you have good intentions but have some things to work through in your personal life and despite your good intentions don't always make the best decisions with animals. For example when you first started talking about apache I knew he was a byb dog but couldn't figure out why you chose that route and chose not to strt a war. I was surprised when you were surprised to learn she was a byb. There were very obvious signs. People have concerns bc you originally posted about Sadie as if she were your dog and then adopted her out. With Athena it seems unusual to find a dog of that breed in that situation and your initial inclination seemed to be to keep her vs aggressively lookin for an owner. I know you did look, but that did not come across as your first and strongest reaction. My main concern is that you and your friend started a rescue with, I feel, not enough background and experience. It is not an easy undertaking and as you can see with those regulars who do run them, it takes over your entire life. It's also a huge legal liability if you don't do it right. I've personally never been inclined to do it because if I screw up I'd be letting down a lot of animals who depend on me. I'm going to the petfinder conference before I even ask to be on the board of our shelter. I live in a rural area and a lot of the shelters and rescues do more harm than good for lack of experience.
Lastly, there are a lot of people who have been on this board a damn long time. To the tune of seven years. I have never felt that people went out of their way to be openly clicky or exclusive. But it is offensive when you imply someone can't be involved or their opinion doesn't count bc they are what you consider to be a newbie. Mama has been on this board since before me and I've been here five years. In the land of "old regulars" I am considered very new but people have always been nice to me. We have been through marriages, divorces, bfps, miscarriages, births, and have rescues a fair number of dogs and cats together. I was flamed my first post here and i don't always make decisions everyone agrees with, but I have never found people to be anything other than welcoming and supportive. It's the same as any board, we hate to watch people make what we believe to be bad decisions. But we hate more to see people make decisions that might hurt animals or the rescue community. I understand you're hurt but hope you can take a step back, understand why you may have hit a nerve and do whatever you need to take care of your personal life.
I was warned to stay away, but I wanted to post the truth about Sadie. I know you all have been saying that I got her and rehomed her after a year. No, Sadie was a foster and like most fosters she was adopted. She reminded me of Ember and from the first moment I saw her I loved her. I wanted to adopt her so I said I did. I tried to but, I was unable to but, a very nice lady with a blind/deaf Great Dane adopted her.
I honestly don't know why I told ya'll that. You will just take it and turn it how you want to. Just like with what I said about my husband's old unit in the Army. I LOVE the military. I LOVED being an Army wife. But, the guys in that unit were idiots. Not the Officers. But, the enlisted soldiers. And I know many people know many guys that are in the military and say they're idiots.
This will be my last post here. Yes I am GBCK ing. But, when a bunch of internet strangers prey on emotion and twist things how they want them then I have to back away. It was a mostly fun year. I have met a few sincerely nice people that I hope to stay in touch with on FB.
If you truly feel that people are twisting your words and using what you say against you, I would urge you to work on how you communicate and put things in writing. We can only develop impressions or "know" you based on what you say and how you say it. For example, in this post you absolutely make it sounds like Sadie is yours, no mention of a rescue or a foster or adopting her out. http://community.thebump.com/cs/ks/forums/thread/53316660.aspx?MsdVisit=1 In fact you said, "I would love to add another collie to our family" which definitely implies that she was yours and you wanted a second.
Did I not say that I said I adopted her? Yes, I said I adopted her. Yes, I wanted to. My friend runs the rescue that got her. I thought that everything was a go for me to adopt her but it did not happen the way that I had hoped. She was with us for around a year. And yes, I would love to add another collie to our family one day. I should not have said she was mine. In my heart she was mine. And she is the reason that it will be a long time before I foster again. I am focusing on my animals right now. One day maybe I'll foster again, but it was too emotional.

I haven't been on this board in *months*. The story of why I couldn't adopt her and had to foster is on the FB group. And this is the internet. It's just like texting. People don't always perceive what's typed correctly. I'm guilty of that. I don't like people making assumptions. I'm not going to post the whole story of Sadie here when it's already been posted on FB. I'm sure someone can copy and paste it here though since other things that are said on a secret FB group somehow make it over here too. My best friend didn't even know Sadie was a foster. But, when she found out it was "Oh, I didn't realize she was a foster" And that was the end of it. She didn't pick it apart or make me feel bad about it. But, that's the difference between internet strangers and IRL friends.
