SCR: Do you cook, or go out for Valentine's day?

Re: SCR: Do you cook, or go out for Valentine's day?

  • We use to go out but they realized that we don't like the crowds and set menus. The food is over priced and always disappointing. We typically just pick a different night of the week to go out. This year its Thursday.
  • We'll be going out "in the madness" lololol.

Just to our local pub, I don't feel like cooking anything fancy on a weeknight, pretty much ever.

They won't have a set menu and we know all the staff so the service will be dandy.

Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
  • We usually cook (something different every year - last year was spicy shrimp pil pil over polenta hearts with wilted red swiss chard) but this year we're getting Chinese take-out and opening a bottle of sparkling wine (the kind dh bought for his proposal picnic)  :)

I cook.  Valentine's is amateur night out...no fun.

But it is fun to PEOPLE WATCH with everyone on their dates. hehe.

We don't celebrate this holiday, but most likely I'll be at the gym tonight since DH is working late.

  • I am a very picky eater, so I hate going out for dinner when there are set menus.  This year we are staying in.  We are going to cook dinner together and make a nice pasta dish with pancetta, garlic, a red sauce and some sausages for DH.  I'm going to get some nice bread on the way home and a good dessert too!
  • Most places around us have overpriced special holiday menus tonight, so we're staying in and cooking.

Tonight's menu is tapenade, eggplant lasagna, roasted brussell sprouts and cinnamon chocolate cake.

  • I am cooking tonight.  I want to break out the china, candles and crystal, and be as "fancy" as possible for a Tuesday.  I'm not making anything complicated, really, steak, wild rice and spinach-stuffed mushrooms.  And white chocolate covered strawberries.  Everyone enjoy their night, whatever your plans are!

  • Just a regular day here... Taco Tuesday

  • I've been sick and I don't feel like doing much, so we're having take out from our favorite Indian restaurant. Last year we had MIL over for dinner, and the year before my sister and BIL were visiting and we went out to our local Mexican restaurant. We don't have a norm, but we definitely don't do anything very special. We used to go away for the weekend to our favorite near-by city around Valentine's day when we were first dating, but we dropped that tradition when we moved.

  • We're ordering in from our favorite take out place this year. And I made a chocolate pudding pie for dessert! Usually we do stay in and I'll cook something special. We'll go out to dinner at another time to avoid the crowds.
  • We don't really do VDay and DH worked anyway, so it's just another night for us, meaning I cooked myself some dinner after I put the Munchkin to bed.

  • I usually cook.  Restaurants are usually a big rip-off when it comes to their V day menu.
  • I usually cook, especially if V-Day falls on a week night. Since DH is doing carb cycling, and yesterday was a low carb day, I made a low carb feast: blue cheese topped filet mignon, steamed snow crab legs, creamed spinach, sauteed mushrooms, and low carb chocolate mousse. We were both pretty full after dinner, so we decided to save the mousse for tonight.
