Happy Monday Y'all (aka Randoms)

I like the idea of lunch delivery, but in practice it could go wrong.  One of his coworkers might say, "it's your birthday?  We're going out for lunch."

This would totally happen in my world--on either end.  L and I are sometimes very successful with surprising/gifting each other and sometimes it just all goes more wrong than could possibly imagined.

    imageGRsweetpea:

Willa's home today (President's Day), and it's so nice to be home with both of them.  I asked her what she wanted to do today, and she wants me to teach her how to cook.  We're going to make banana bread later this afternoon.

That sounds lovely!  Enjoy the day with both kiddos.  And banana bread, maybe I'll make that this weekend.  Or maybe it will wait until spring break since this weekend will probably be spent wrestling the pelican brief.

This is true. Maybe I'll ask him if he knows of any company tradition for birthdays. He can eat it for dinner. I'll make sure it's something simple. Like pizza and salad. They have a refrigerator there.

Did I notice???? I'm both excited and terrified. I'm starting my new study schedule today. I have to study at least an hour a day or I have to stay after class to do it. 5 more weeks of new material, 1 review week, and it's all done in 7 weeks! When are your finals?

  • My first exam is April 24 and my last exam is May 3.  Reading week is the week prior.  I will be so thrilled to finish 1L.  I feel like this is the most stressful point of the semester for me and that things will start to look up post-spring break.  At least that's what I'm hoping Stick out tongue
  • Hello!  Work is busy today, so I just wanted to pop in real quick and say hi.

My neck got much worse, so I went to urgent care this morning (after not being able to get an appointment with my doctor, or any other doctor in the Advantage Health network... growl.)  Official diagnosis: cervical sprain.  Cause: mystery.  Treatment: muscle relaxants and anti-inflammatory/pain killers.

I've got to say, the Saint Mary's urgent care on 64th is pretty sweet.  They got me in immediately, and everyone was really nice and helpful.  It is kind of set up more like an ER.  When I checked in, they asked me a bunch of questions including, "Is their a religious affiliation we should put on your chart?"  And then they put a hospital bracelet on me.  It was a little worrisome -- I don't plan to be here for long... no need to admit me and summon a priest, people!

  • BnG - I like the lunch or edible arrangement idea.

We had a good weekend - we went to Ikea on Saturday, then stayed at our friend's new house in the Detroit area and hit the outlets in Howell coming back yesterday and went to the in-laws in the evening to see our neices and nephews.  It was busy and I was exhausted last night.

Note to everyone: Try to avoid Ikea on a weekend.  Especially if you are pushing your husband in a wheelchair.  It is slightly difficult to manuever around that place.

It's a cool facility.  We've had to go a few times.  Our first time Willa was in full blown asthma attack, and the hospital-ness of it freaked me out.

I hope the meds calm down your neck problems.  Sounds like no fun.  I asked Jim if he knew the TC cherry coop guys well enough to ask them for a gallon or 2 of their pits.  Nope.  Your comment on cherry pits in neck wraps got me thinking...

Wow - I'm sorry to hear about the neck but glad you got a diagnosis.  I hope it feels better soon!

  • JulieD, did you see the recent 30 Rock where Liz and her boyfriend went to Ikea?  Funny stuff.

Hehe...yes.  I actually only took half a pill of the muscle relaxant so far.  I'm a little concerned about becoming a zombie when I have some work that must get done today.

No but now I'm excited to see it!  We are semi-mad at Hulu Plus - we pay $8 to stream Hulu through our Roku player - and this year they made 30 Rock an "online only" option, meaning we'd have to watch it through the computer.  Which is annoying so we haven't watched any new 30 Rock's this year.

  • Kasa I am glad that you will have some relief in sight!!

  • I feel so bad for Noah...he is napping and keeps coughing.  Thankfully, not waking him.  He is in the lap of baby-cold luxury though with a humidifier, vicks plug-in, and baby vicks on his chest.

I cannot wait for the day that he is able to blow his nose. I think at this moment I am feeling like it is ranking right up there with the day he is out of diapers.  I am wiping his nose every nano-second, poor kid.

  • My Mom just got home from surgery. Now for recovery.

My Aunt came into town to help her for the next couple of days so also brought clothes and accessories that she no longer wants. So I got a new purse and a few new sweaters.

I imagine reading week is like review week--no classes, just time to study.

I haven't heard about the case you're talking about specifically, but have heard about students suing their law schools on an individual basis for all sorts of issues related to employment reporting, scholarship retention, etc.

There are definitely some real and serious issues with legal education + government loan policies + problems with US News rankings for law schools + disclosure requirements for things like employment and scholarships.

  • Henry just tried pop rocks for the first time.  He freaked out and cried.  I feel equally sad for him and delighted in his odd response.  Warped mom.

JGE, I can't imagine morale is super high right now.

From what I understand recent grads are suing schools for fraud basically- falsification of employment stats and things of that nature. I understand the frustration but I don't think it's the school's responsibility to find me a job.

Deeder - Glad surgery went well for your Mom.

I feel bad, but I want to giggle about this. Poor guy, but it is funny. I can only imagine Henry H will have a similar response in a couple years if the opportunity to enjoy pop rocks comes up.
