If you want to move to an Offsite Boards

I'll be honest: I don't really want to move to a different board.

First of all, like others have said, it's the internet, and everything is public.  I'm not thrilled about the nest pinning my pictures with a link to the boards, but I don't see it as any sort of threat either.  Those pins have a negligible effect on how easy it would be for someone to find out personal information about me.

Second, as much as I enjoy the core group we have here, I don't really want to be limited to just those people.  It's nice to have the occasional new person come on and ask for a great macaroni and cheese recipe or how to freeze pizza dough.  There are so many complaints about the board being too slow lately - limiting our users to just the people who are here today and post often is going to slow it down much more.

 

I totally agree with this. Although I am in my own predicament. In less than a week my blog and catering company will be linked and obviously I am pretty much giving up my privacy at that point. 

It wouldn't do me much good to change my screen name if people can still access my name, phone number and company name through the blog eh? 

 sigh. I wouldn't mind visiting an off site board but to be honest, if it came to that I would probably bow out of this. Thankfully I am friends with a few of you on FB and fans of just about everyone's blog FB page. 

See, my catering company and blog are also linked (blog on company website), no direct link from blog to comany, if that makes sense).  but I'm actually not concerned about people knowing my full name and phone number or whatever.  I'm more concerned about someone being able to click on my SN and see all of my posts.  I dont' talk much personal stuff here, but I do on my anniversary board.  I don't like the idea of someone on Pinterest recognizing one of my pics on TN pinboard, following links, and seeing everything I post about my H, mom, whatever on my anni board.  KWIM?

Eventually that is how it will be for us as well but while the catering website is being built we are having to work around this a little (thanks to demand- um how cool is that?) but I feel the same way. Since coming back about a year or two ago I have been a little more careful about what I post but God knows I didn't care 3 or 4 years ago and it is totally embarrassing to think that just anyone can read that. Not that anyone can't but you catch my drift.

I don't really *want* to either.  But I don't want TN to pin my stuff from the boards either.  And agreed, it does blow.

Has TN replied to any of your emails about not pinning your content?  They haven't to mine, so I'm just wondering... Doesn't seem like they're taking this too seriously.

And I'm not quite sure I'd use the other board.  Haven't decided yet.  I'd certainly miss all of you!

I actually joined TN specifically for this board, to participate in the recipe swaps, and while I've grown to really like a lot of you ladies and I'd be sad if the group was broken up because of switching boards, I also can't support a website that has such blatant disregard for it's longtime users (not referring to myself, obviously). I don't personally have issues with anonymity or my pics being posted on Pinterest, but the majority seems to and has voiced it, and TN doesn't seem to care. That is not the community that I signed up to be a part of. So, I will gladly migrate to the proboards site to continue what I signed up to participate in, and hope to see most of you all there as well!

Go with the free option.  I belong to a couple others and the advertisments aren't that big of a deal.

Yeah. Whoever said "this blows" pretty much sums up how I feel about all this. I probably wouldn't check another board, and certainly wouldn't pay. Part of what I like about this board is answering questions of non-regulars as well. and if we moved it elsewhere not many people would follow. This board would turn into one of those ghost boards where people test out their siggy pictures

I'm sticking around. I suck at posting frequent BUs anyway.

I have no idea what to do. A lot of my blog traffic comes from here so I kinda want to stay but I don't see any good reason why they just can't link directly to our blogs. Its one freaking extra click.

Inn case I decide to leave, I'm going to create an account on the offboard but use my blog name as my username.

As much as I am upset and disappointed that TN has such disregard for internet etiquette, I probably won't leave. I have a hunch that sooner or later they'll see what they're doing is completely shady and make it right. I'll just hope that's sooner rather than later.

I'm feeling very neutral about all of this...I'm not liking the whole pinning pictures thing but I'm not as upset over it as others are.

What would honestly make this 100 times easier for me is if I could be logged into TK and TN at the same time with different names. I'd change the one over here but keep my TK name since I'm still a mod on a board over there.

The terms and conditions are quite clear.  Is it polite? I guess not.

What I feel like people are forgetting is that you have been using the nest FOR FREE for years to drive traffic to your blogs.
