So! Who's staying? Who's leaving?

I signed up for the new board, but there are many things I don't like about it. Also, while I don't like what the nest is doing with Pinterest, like I said before, I am not personally worried about my security.  I plan to check both sites for a while and, well, I'll just end up doing whatever is the most fun.

Agree w/ you. I made username over they and may bop in time to time, but I don't think I'm leaving here. Plus I don't like the format of the other board.

I'm not concerned that the pinned photo from Pinterest is infringing somehow on my security, since when I started posting here in the first place I knew this was a fully public board where there could be countless lurkers who are reading what is posted.

I'm going to do both for awhile.  While I don't have a food blog, I don't want to miss out on what's going on/what you girls are doing/making, but I also am curious how this will affect WC.  Plus, there will still be people coming to ask questions...that's a big part of why it's here.

I didn't weigh in yesterday but this is pretty much how I feel too. I just created an account for the other board and I'll check out both. Although the thought of checking two boards exhausts me. But that's because I'm lazy.

Why are you leaving the FB board?   Joelen just changed the group to secret, if it's openness was an issue for you.

 

I too will be straddling both boards.  As frustrating as this situation is, I love the community here on TN. 

Plus, if we've all emailed ttherm to stop pinning our recipes, it's really become mostly a non issue now.

I would have done it earlier but I don't have FB access at work. The FB group is now private/secret, meaning only members are able to view and access the group... and the group requires an invite from current members to join.

I changed my screen name here and I'll only be posting about food from now on. I'll be checking out both boards since I don't like the pro boards format very much but would rather be there than here. For me I'm just sick of TN and the crap they pull. Plus a change of scenery can be nice.

I just am catching up on the whole afternoon's happenings now.  I will sign up for the new board and check it out for sure.  As for the nest, my local set up a new board too, which I am liking a lot, but this board has always been one of my main hangouts as well.  I will definitely be getting a new username since I've been thinking about that for awhile for security issues.  I'll try to use the same siggy pic for awhile so people will 'know' me but I'm still mad I have to give up all my posts/points and silver silver status.  Haha, I'll get over it.

I'm staying... I limit how much personal stuff I share here anyway, since it wouldn't take a whole lot of googling to find my blog, my posts here and my pinterest stuff and connect them together. 

Frankly, the stuff on the Internet is there forever, and if you don't want someone seeing it someday, don't put it out there.  While I think the Nest could have done a better job explaining what they were planning to do, the fact remains that whatever we post here becomes THEIR content, and they're a business trying to make money, not a non-profit providing message boards for bored people to kill time on.  This whole to-do over violation of privacy is nuts.

This is an excellent point and correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't people now upset they're being used the same way they've been using the Nest? 

This is a free site that allows people to freely share and promote their blog with a wide audience. It seems like The Nest is trying to do the same thing to promote their site by using users blogs. 

Haven't most bloggers received a majority of their followers from TN? I know on the baby boards there are bloggers who have blown up into "big" blogs 100% driven from Nest traffic that grew into other followers.

Am I wrong? (I'm really asking, not being rhetorical ;-)
