I don't know if I am "new" or not. I tend to lurk and drool over the food porn. I don't post often.
But, here we go anyways!
Whats the worst thing you've ever made? Pie. It baffles me. I have made 2 and they both sucked. And I follow the directions, dammit!
Best thing you've made recently? Pork tenderloin with a cranberry compote. Yum.
New technique or recipe you would like to master? Pies. See above lol.
How long have you been married? Divorced 4 years. Dating BF almost a year.

I lurk more than I post - but try to post once in a while. AND - I just changed my screen name (*used to be Ondrea) and I"ve been on the nest for a long....long time. I don't food blog though so don't contribute to those posts (but love reading them!)
Whats the worst thing you've ever made? ever? wow - that list is long. but just the other night I tried to throw some stuff together (rice, chicken, veggies, sauce) and it was just blah....
Best thing you've made recently? DH loves my penne pasta with spicy sausage that I made Sunday night.

New technique or recipe you would like to master? I want to get better at baking in general
How long have you been married? almost 9 years.
I also wouldn't consider myself new, but maybe re-active is a better way to describe it. Life has kept me away from WC, but I recently started a blog and I know this is the best place for tips and recipes!
Whats the worst thing you've ever made? Ever, this is hard to say, but recently, I just baked walleye last night and the breading was horribly soggy. Should have broiled or fried it. Oh well, live and learn. Tonight is beer battered fish and chips!
Best thing you've made recently? Chicken Tikka Masala
New technique or recipe you would like to master? Making my own tortillas. I haven't tried yet, but I know Kevinslady had them in her blog! We eat them so much, I don't know why it hadn't occured to me sooner.
How long have you been married? Divored 2.5 happy years!
Whats the worst thing you've ever made? I always helped my mom with Christmas treats and she had a recipe called "Never Fail Fudge", just your basic melt-chocolate-chips type of recipe. One year in college I made said "Never Fail Fudge" and, well, failed. It never set. Ever since, it has been dubbed "Heather Fail Fudge" (my name is Heather).
Best thing you've made recently? I just got a cast iron skillet and have been experimenting. I made a simple but amazing Spanish "omelette" last weekend in it. Yum!
New technique or recipe you would like to master? My current goal is to focus more on cookbooks and less on blogs for awhile so I can master...or at least attempt for the first time...some classics.
How long have you been married? Five years this Saturday...yep, St. Paddy's is my anniversary!
Best thing you've made recently? I thought the tiramisu I made Friday came out really well.
New technique or recipe you would like to master? Homemade mozzarella, but first I have to find milk that hasn't been ultra-pasteurized.
How long have you been married? 4.5 years
my food blog
Seriously, if I can make tortillas anyone can. When you get the chance just make a gigantic batch of them and freeze them. They are so worth it.
mmmm tortillas....

I'm not new but I post sporadically and I'll chime in to keep things alive.
Worst thing I've ever made - I have a bad memory but I definitelt failed with some black beans just a few weeks ago, I tried to "quick cook" dried beans, the flavor was there but the beans were like little pebbles, ew.
Best thing I've made recently - a chicken dish topped with ricotta, proscuitto and mozzarella, the sauce is a mix between marsala and marinara, yum (not at all healthy)
I want to learn to make bread, or anything with yeast for that matter. Yeast terrifies me, I don't know why, I've never even TRIED to use it
I am married to my 2nd husband for just over 4 months

Hello.
The worst thing I ever made was about ten years ago. I attempted to make Persian food and it was so salty I had to throw it all out.
The best thing recently....very simple but I made pasta with roasted tomatoes, garlic, and zucchini. Yum!
For something I would like to attempt..hmm...I would love to try croissants.
I have been married for six years.
Good to hear! I bookmarked that when you posted about it.
my food blog
Whats the worst thing you've ever made? Cherry Cake Roll, what a disaster! It crumbled when I rolled it and then stuck to the towel when I tried to unroll it. It was a mess.
Best thing you've made recently? Mocha-chocolate chip muffins; they were a light recipe and were delicious!
New technique or recipe you would like to master? I want to make French macarons.
How long have you been married? 4.5 yearsI'm not new, but I lurk more than post.
Whats the worst thing you've ever made? I tried to make a potato gratin years ago, and even though I boiled the potatoes, then baked them in the gratin, they were still raw.
Best thing you've made recently? I made an awesome, really rich chocolate ice cream over the summer.
New technique or recipe you would like to master? I'd like to give croissants another try. I set the oven on fire last time (note: used rimmed baking sheets!), and just generally get more comfortable using yeast in general.
How long have you been married? I was married for four years, but got divorced. Have been in my current relationship for almost 3 years.
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
I'm not "new" but I feel like a lot of the regs don't know me.
Whats the worst thing you've ever made?
Not really "worst" I guess, but once in high school I put wax paper in the oven while making a frozen pizza.
Best thing you've made recently?
The jalapeno popper chicken I made last night was so good.
New technique or recipe you would like to master?
I would LOVE to take a knife skills class.
How long have you been married?
Whatever my ticker says, lol. Married 4/30/11 after having to move my date up almost last minute from 5/14/11!
I'm loving all the new people we're seeing- stick around! And blogs are definitely not necessary to join in, I didn't have one for at least the first few years I was here and I'm still not particularly consistent with it.
Whats the worst thing you've ever made? sweetener-free granola bars- I forgot the salt, the texture was rubbery isntead of chewy, and they were a weird grayish color. we ate a couple and left the rest out for the birds to nibble.
Best thing you've made recently? citrus shrimp and orzo salad, just trying to use up some stuff from the fridge. a bit of a hodge-podge, but delicious!
New technique or recipe you would like to master? laminated doughs. I need to just do it already.
How long have you been married? 4 years
Really stupid, really embarrassing. But yeah.
I made a couple of drive-by posts today, so I will answer!
What's the worst thing you have made? I once made pumpkin cookies in home ec in high school and put a can of pumpkin in instead of a cup of pumpkin. No bueno.
What's the best thing you have made? I make awesome chili.
New technique or recipe I'd like to master: I recently stopped eating wheat, so I am working on making some things using almond meal/flour as a substitute.
How long have you been married? I am currently married and have been for almost six years. However, our marriage is on the rocks due to some infidelity on his part, so it will be ending.
Hi, I recently became more active on TK but I love that TN has a food board, so here I am!
1) Actually, the worst thing I ever made I did last week. It was a mushroom stroganoff. It was horrible. FI didn't even finish his and he'll eat anything.
2) The best thing I made recently were lentil tacos! The batch should have given us leftovers for days but they didn't last the night.
3) I recently went vegan so I really want to learn how to make vegan cheesecake soon.
4) Not married yet. I've been with FI for nearly 3 years, have been living together for 7 months and we'll be getting married this September.
Hi, I'm Kate
Bad things I have made. Hmmm. I made a particularly bad salmon in the oven. It was way overcooked and stuck. Kind of like that commercial where she tries to get the salmon out of the pan and the whole thing flies out the window. Has anyone seen that?
The best thing I made recently was a joint effort by me and DH. We did wilton's party pony cake for my daughter's 3rd b'day. I used Ina Garton's Beatty's chocolate cake recipe and DH decorated it. It was delicious and beautiful.
I too am so far a yeast-less cook. I have never made dough and really would like to master pizza dough at the very least.
I have been married 4 1/2 years.
What's the worst thing you have made? A few weeks ago I attempted to make a cream of crap chicken and noodle-style casserole just to use up some canned stuff from the pantry. It was disgusting.
What's the best thing you have made? Also a few weeks ago, I made mussels in a white wine butter sauce that we ate over whole wheat pasta. I also roasted some eggplant and we ate it over arugula with feta sprinkled on top. It was totally improvised but delicious.
New technique or recipe I'd like to master: Bread
How long have you been married? 3 years in July
Hello Ladies!!!
I have been lurking for awhile so I'm really glad to see this post.
The worst thing I ever made was an overnight french toast recipe from Paula Dean. I was hosting 20 people for New Years Day Brunch and it just never cooked. It was soggy and too sweet and just plain awful.
I consider myself a pretty good baker of banana bread (LOL). Sweet, savory you name it I have added it in and usually with good results.
I would love to make my own bread from scratch. As soon as I see knead in the recipe I shy away.
Married 5.5 years to my wonderful husband and we have two little girls 4 and 1.
I'm not really new, I've posted sporadically for awhile. I've been around the knot/nest/bump for quite a few years. I started blogging more recently and will hopefully have time to post more often now.
What's the worst thing you've ever made? I've had many failed recipes but I'd say a crockpot Italian beef that was so bad I threw the entire batch away.
Best thing you've made recently? Fried Couscous Salad from Giada.
New technique or recipe you would like to master? I'd like to get better at cake/cupcake decorating. I'd also like to improve my pictures for my blog.
How long have you been married? Married for 3.5 years, together for 5 years before we got married.
LOL - that sucks! At least our alarm was confined to the house.
Did I mention it was my mother's brand-new oven? The contractor had just finished the renovation, like, 6 months before.
Not a true newbie but I am an infrequent poster, so I figured I'd chime in.
Whats the worst thing you've ever made? When I was a kid my mom always let the three of us pick our birthday dinners. My siblings were pedestrian, but I tried something new every year (my mom is a pretty boring cook--meat and three type stuff). One year, being the asian food lover I am, I chose to make Sukiyaki (yes, in HS I made my own birthday dinners. Mom was scared of adventurous recipes!). It was beyond dreadful. I didn't eat tofu for years after that debacle! Oh, and I ruined the heck out of some ratatouille once because I put too much vinegar in it.
Best thing you've made recently? Anything with garlic in it! Kidding, but I had a doctor erroneously tell me I was allergic to garlic, so I went for more than 6 months without my favorite ingredient. I think it would have to be the salted caramels I got off the shesbecomingdoughmesstic blog.
New technique or recipe you would like to master? Not sure. (Edit) Oh, wait! I'd like to be less recipe dependent and have it still taste good.
How long have you been married? Almost 5 years.
Whats the worst thing you've ever made? I made a horrid beef stroganoff a few months ago. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best thing I've ever eaten and 1 being so bad that you immediately spit it out, or throw up later, it was a 2. I ate it because I eat just about anything.
Best thing you've made recently? I made a killer chicken pot pie last week.
New technique or recipe you would like to master? I wish that I could look in my fridge and see a bunch of items and think of something to do with them. I need a recipe, and it needs to be well written.
I would also just like to be able to cook something and have confidence that I'm not going to screw it up. Its hard though, because it happens often.
How long have you been married? 5.5 years.
Worst thing I've ever made-I tried to make a porkchop recipe in the crockpot that I should have known was doomed from the beginning. It was a gross combination of ketchup and something else I can't remember...it was disgusting.
Best thing I've made recently-I have a newborn baby so I haven't done much cooking! Just mostly heating up things I have frozen! I did make a great mac and cheese that was extra cheesy and creamy recently.
New technique-My yeast recipes are always failures...I need to get better at that!
I have been married for a year and a half.
Whats the worst thing you've ever made? I don't know....I put too much sour cream in a beef stroganoff dish once, so I guess that will have to count; it was alright, but the sour cream was REALLY strong
Best thing you've made recently? Everything has pretty much been really basic recently, nothing special; I started coming down with a cold last week, and it's now hit me full force.
New technique or recipe you would like to master? Again, I don't know; I kinda look at recipes, get the general idea and then just kinda wing it; like tonight's onion soup; though with that, I can't remember where I found the original recipe, so I'm really improvising on this go around
How long have you been married? Will be 5 months on the 15thDinner isn't ready in my house until the smoke detectors have gone off.
