Seeing a lot of new faces! Come introduce yourself..
Re: Seeing a lot of new faces! Come introduce yourself..
I'm certainly not new to TN (been around 5ish years), but I have become somewhat more active on WC in the last couple of months.
The worst thing I've ever made was probably a batch of brownies a few years ago. Either the recipe was wrong, or I got in a hurry and read it wrong, but they were an oily, greasy mess. I threw them in the garbage, and that almost never happens.
The best thing I've made recently were probably the Samoas Cheesecake Bites that I posted in the BU post today. Probably the best cheesecake flavor I've ever made, and I have made a lot of different cheesecakes.
I would love to be better at regular cake decorating. I think my baking skills are good, and I can generally make desserts look appealing, but I am not great at working with buttercream.
Our 5th anniversary is in September. My how time flies.

Whats the worst thing you've ever made?
I found a crock pot chicken recipe on Pinterest, I use the crock pot all of the time, so I was psyched. It had honey, soy sauce, and a few other things. It was burnt and horrendous all the way around. I could even smell how horrible it was going to be as soon as I walked into the house.

Longer than I should have been. Will be 6 years this June, but hopeful the divorce will be finalized before then!
We had been out to a restaurant not long ago and I suggested an appetizer that DH vetoed because "I don't like feta cheese." I knew good and well he had never tasted it, but I didn't say anything. So when he raved about how good the AO was, I got to throw in an "AHA! THAT is feta cheese! And you LOVE IT!"
I'm not new, but I'll answer too!
Whats the worst thing you've ever made?
I asked DH -- he says a pizza we attempted back in our dating days. I tried to 'speed up' the rising process by putting the dough on the pre-heating oven. It go so hot it started cooking the dough in the bottom of the bowl. It was a disaster.

I have been lurking here for awhile but have never posted. I saw this post and thought it would be a great time to start posting.
Whats the worst thing you've ever made? A month into marriage DH asked me to make him cornbread and stew. The cornbread was too salty and the vegetables were too soggy. It was so bad that we went for take out.

Hello!
I lurk on here a few times a week to see what kind of goodies are being made up, and if any catch my eye to try. Never really post much tho, don't have a blog or anything.
Whats the worst thing you've ever made? I saw this recipe for baked eggplant, it's stuck to the wax paper, and was mushy and just had a snotty texture to it...DH liked it but he'll eat pretty much anything. oooh and fruit leather rolls they just wouldn't tack up in the oven then they became over cooked on the edges and wouldn't come off the foil...what a mess
Best thing you've made recently? Lobster bisque. and Damn it was good!
New technique or recipe you would like to master? being more creative with the things in my fridge I tend to make the same things every month.
How long have you been married? 1 year and 5 months
I have been mostly lurking and asking a few questions here and there.
I don't recall anything terrible as I usually use a recipe to do anything, including boiling eggs:) My husband and I did over cook lobster tails a few weeks ago, which was pretty depressing given the amount we spent on them:(
A few days ago, I made an amazing veal scallopini. I utilized some of the review's tips and changed it a little bit by adding cream, wine, and different spices. It was really good and easy!

I would just like to learn more about cooking so I can cook like my mom, adding a bit of this and a bit of that and knowing what items can be easily substituted for others.
I have been married for almost 4 years. We work opposite schedules so we rarely eat at home. Sunday nights are usually our only nights together, so instead of going to dinner we have been spending time together by searching for a recipe, shopping and preparing it together. It has been a lot of fun.
Hey ladies!!! My posting has been pretty sporadic lately, but I still pop in here every now and then. Hope everyone has been doing well and enjoying life!
Whats the worst thing you've ever made? I had the same "black bean" experience as another poster. The flavor was good, but the beans tasted like crap. I don't know why, either. I soaked them overnight, and they were cooked for about 6+ hours. Grrrr.
Best thing you've made recently? Jambalaya, for Mardi Gras.
New technique or recipe you would like to master? Cake pops. I know they're super trendy right now, but they're really cute!
