I see a lot of people blasting them on here, what are your opinions? I loved one I saw at the store yesterday, but worry that it is too passe. FWIW, it was a white leather one, not one with the signature C's all over it...
Re: Are Coach bags out?
I think a lot of people talk big online. I personally believe that if you like a Coach, or a $20 satchel from Target, or a Hermes - all the more power to you.
Sincerely,
A devoted Coach carrier
I blog about nothing
I still buy them if there is a particular bag I like but I'm not loyal to Coach or anything like that. I have some Rebecca Minkoff's that I like just as much, if not more.
Bottom line: Coach makes a nice quality bag at a relatively affordable price for the quality. If you like the particular bag, then get it! It's not about the brand name just for the sake of the brand name.

***Wedding Items For Sale***
This could very well be true. I saw them all over in NJ but here in FL? Not so much.
I love mine and carry them often.
I think the logo items are pass? (not that I was ever a fan -- I think their logo stuff looks cheesy and Gucci wannabe). But other than that, it is a brand and carries a pretty wide selection of items so I don't think you could say that the whole brand is pass?. It isn't my style, and you don't tend to see fashionable people here (New York City) carrying them, but I wouldn't say that it is pass?.
I *will* say though that the brand has been GREATLY cheapened in the last 10 years or so by the proliferation of outlets. Not that it was ever a designer brand, but I see it as a huge step down from brands that probably would otherwise be its peers (MBMJ, Tory Burch, Kate Spade (although I think KS is getting cheapened by outlets too), etc.).
Agree with this completely.
I used to work for Coach and still get a 50% discount if I want to buy a new bag. This makes them very affordable to me. However, I have bought about 6 new purses in the last 2 years, and only one of them was Coach, and it happened to be from an outlet (just a plain white leather bag). I go in there about once every 3 months to visit with my old coworkers and look at the new bags, and I haven't seen anything at all that I've wanted to buy.
I don't think they are "out" but they definetly aren't fashion forward right now.
Re: the girl who can't pay her rent -- she may have gotten her bag as a gift.
Also, you can get them at the outlets for very low prices. I think wristlets can be as cheap as $20. Coach really isn't a prestige brand anymore.
I hesitate to say they're "out", since everyone and her mother seems to have one... that being said, I would be hard-pressed to pick a Coach when making a bag purchase. I just know of so many more stylish, fashion-forward designer bag brands now, and there's just such a saturation of Coach bags on the street, that I'm not motivated to consider Coach... They just don't seem that "special" to me anymore, kwim? When I first "discovered" Coach, there weren't many other "designer" brands on my radar, so Coach was the end-all...that's just not the case anymore.
(I should note, I tend to shy away from lots brands that I see everywhere, not just Coach. That's one of the main reasons I didn't pick a Kate Spade or LV bag this time around. I ended up with a Rebecca Minkoff, which in fashion-land, is totally everywhere. In my area, though, it's definitely more obscure.)
ETA: I want to clarify that I'm not nearly as brand-conscious as my post might suggest... I just like to find bags that not everyone has seen, and that search usually leads me to a place other than Coach. I've had just as much luck finding cool bags at H&M as I have with higher end stores. I just want something different, that's all!

This exactly. The leather are classic and the logo ones are more appropriate for someone under 21 imo.
Anything you can achieve through hard work, you could also just buy.
Where in Michigan? I think I OD'd on Coach bags growing up in Oakland County.
Honestly, I'm kinda shocked that so many people are hating on Coach. Based on the responses so far, many of you complain that the brand has become too popular, too logo-y, and too commercial.
Okay, that's fine. But based on the OOTD posts, most of your clothing seems to come from BR, Target, Ann Taylor, LOFT, Gap, and Old Navy. These brands are, in my opinion, too popular, too logo-y, and too commercial.
I'm not sure why judgement is reserved for Coach, and not these other mass retailers.
~~~MARRIED BIO~~~
I carry Coach. I only buy leather (and really, I only buy black leather -- I don't wear brown enough to warrant spending $200 on a brown leather Coach so I have a cheap one from TJ Maxx if I want to wear brown) and nothing is over-the-top logo or anything.
I can't afford anything "higher end" than Coach and the last purse I bought was from the Outlet sales online (that you have to sign up for) so I spent $100 on a black leather cross-body.
Does a couple hundred dollars buy you a unique bag? A couple hundred dollars will buy you a nice leather bag at BR or Macys - a mall bag. Everyone has Coach, because it's not a luxury bag, it's a mall brand. You can find a Coach store in the mall, or at least a selection of Coach bags at a department store connected to the mall.
I think people bash Coach because they're annoyed it's a mall bag that everyone and their sister can buy, instead of a status symbol of wealth or taste or something. If you don't want a mall bag, then don't shop at the mall, and be prepared to cough up more than $200 bucks.
Coach is only trash if it's fake. And the people are welfare are 1) probably carrying a fake, 2) maybe received it as a gift, or 3) cheating the system. If you know your Coach, you can easily tell a fake from a real by just a glance, just like your precious "YSL or some other high end quality designer". I refuse to buy a fake. I also refuse to buy a department store one. I only shop at the Coach outlet. The prices aren't as crazy. With that being said, I live in a trailer, and I own about 9 real coach purses, ranging from leather to sig print. I also own 2 real Coach diaper bags, one sig print, one leather. I see nothing trashy about living in a trailer or trashy about my love for Coach bags. The only thing trashy is your snobbish attitude.
