Just relax and take a deep breath. I was deployed to Japan a while ago. It was extremely hard at first to be away from my whole family, but it made the reunion so much sweeter. Smile Just wait and see. That year is going to go by quicker than you know it. Most people don't realize what it's like for the service member. (I'm not saying you don't, just that most wives have no idea) Immagine being away from everyone you know and love. At least for the family left behind, it's only one member gone, but for him, it's his whole family missing from the dinner table, from the barracks, and he can't show emotion to his friends or he wil be thought "weak." It's even like that for us servicewomen. Just give him all the love and support he needs, and you guys will be just fine. Focus on the positives. He's fighting for our freedom every day that he goes to work, even if he's not in a "dangerous" zone. Everything he does ensures that you and me and the rest of America can sleep safely at night. Give him tons of support, try to be strong while he is gone (it's hard, I know) and take pride knowing that he is out there fighting for your freedom. It will all turn out okay.

Am I the only one who wants to puke at the "America can sleep safely" shiit? Look, I get it but it's a little too cheesy for me.

It's obvious someone doesn't appriciate our service members. That's okay, we're used to it by now.

    Ick!

Please. You're right.  She has no appriciation for service members at all.  Some people need to get over them selves.

    Thank you Smile

That wasn't meant to be some sort of compliment to you dear.  Are you seriously oblivious to the fact that there are service members (other than you) who have been posting on this board for YEARS, some of whom are currently deployed.  There are also a shyt ton of women here who have spouses away right now so your comments come off as assinine.

Yes, you appreciate them way more than all of us lowly, non-bumpersticker-saying chanting spouses. You win!

    I'm not a spouse. I'm enlisted.

Good for you! From your tone and from my expirience as a former enlisted soldier, I'd guess you were E1-3.

I'm guessing she's new.  A few more DFAC chili mac meals and a hard ass Sergeant should help get that glitter right out of there.

I just threw up in my mouth thinking of chili mac. K actually asked me to make some the other day, he loves it. *barf*

I haven't been able to eat it since I graduated AIT 6 1/2 years ago, lol.  My first meal at Basic was chili mac hot out of the oven.  It was so hot, I couldn't taste anything for a week. No chewing, just scoop and swallow.
