Oh also. Until a week ago I thought spin class was a bunch of people in spandex and sweatbands turning around in circles a la Jane Fonda on crack all, "I'm a maniac. maaaaaaniiiiaaac!"

I had no idea there were bicycles involved in spinning. Embarrassed

If we're going to judge pacifier users, I'm going to judge thumbsuckers.  Stick out tongue

I judge little kids who suck on their thumbs... esp when they are school-aged (preschool included).... And even more judgment is passed when the thumbsucker is an adult.

We weren't judging the kids for pacifier use, just the parents.  Little kids self-soothe however they know how, you know?

And I was a MAJOR thumbsucker.  I hated pacifiers but loved my thumb from day one.  My mom put me in therapy because she wanted me to stop in pre-school.  This woman who helped me was known in my city back then for being a good "habit-breaker" for little kids, so I had to see her for a few months until she got me to stop.  It was actually pretty neat. She was also a speech pathologist and was able to get my brother to ditch his lisp. :)

I was a big-time thumbsucker. When I was six, and my parents were trying to get me to quit, they told my kindergarten staff to keep an eye on me so they could stop me if I started sucking my thumb. So, during play time, I would sneak behind one of the buildings and suck my thumb for a few minutes to "get my fix". I really wish I was joking.

  • I had a paci until I was 3 or 4. Sure, I turned out okay, but I still judge.

Along sort of similar lines as Stees.  It's starting to piss me off that people are already pressuring us to have a third baby.  I am done after I pop this little kiddo out.  I didn't want any kids and then when I met Joel he was the first person I actually saw myself having kids with but two is my max.  I originally said I was good with just Alex after he was born but I knew Joel really wanted more and I think two is perfect for us.  I'm done, Joel is good with that and everyone who thinks otherwise needs to STFU.

Wait, seriously, people are already talking about you guys having a 3rd?! That'd piss me off too.

Yeah, aka mostly my MIL.  Whenever we mention that this is it for us she drops comments about how we'll have more, she knows it and we really should anyways and if we do stuff to prevent it from happening (ie Joel getting a snip or me getting tunes tied) she throws a fit about it's unnatural and we cant do that.  She also made sure to tell us that for her "two was overwhelming but three was easy.". She ended up having five and they hurt financial for it which was their choice.  We choose notto put overselves in what I consider to be unnecessary financial hardship by only have two which we can afford.

  • You guys have been busy these last few days!  Damn work for actually making me work.

Ditto judging kids over 3 in strollers or with pacifiers.  I also see way too many people taking their kids out in public or posting pics of their kids on facebook when the kids are only wearing their diaper, and maybe a t-shirt.  Put some clothes on your kids people.  I'm talking about the extreme cases, like this girl I used to work with has a 4.5 yr old and a 2 yr old, and in every picture they are just in their diapers sucking away on their pacifiers.  It irks me.

I confess that I told my sister we would participate in an Autism walk in honor of a friend of my nephew who not only has autism, but is now also battling chemo, and now I don't want to do it.  I know the family, my heart breaks for them, but I've lost all motivation to spend most of a Sunday doing this.  I'd rather donate some cash and be done with it.  I feel like a horrible person.  Still not sure if I will back out or not.

Also, I want a donut.  Or a cupcake.  Or both.

  • I can't remember if it was this confessions post or the last one, but I too get annoyed with people's Facebook daily countdowns to delivery date. Yes, I get it..time rolls on. We all know already.

My sister sucked her thumb until she was 9 and my parents tried EVERYTHING. The stuff that tastes bad that you brush on? She sucked it off. They finally had to have a dental device put in her mouth to stop the suction..and even then it took forever. A 9yr old sucking her thumb looked ridiculous, but I don't know what more they could have done to stop her from doing it.

I confess that I am not stressed out at all about selling our house/buying a new one etc. Jon is doing enough worrying about money for the both of us, our realtor is clearly working hard bringing people in to see it, there's not a lot of inventory on the market in our area right now, it's set at a fair price..I think it will happen. Out of all the things going on right now, at this moment, I am totally zen about this. I think it's making Jon crazy.

  • I think it's funny that moms get so bent out of shape over someone telling them how to parent. Yet, 90% of these confessions are judging parents. Oh the ways of the world!

Stees- I'll "pray for your empty ute." REALLY? Indifferent I would cut someone.

  • I'm exhausted and I've only worked like 2.5 hours today (our company's internet is down, which is especially challenging for an internet company).  I only have a 2 full workday work week and the weekend can't come soon enough.

I missed my dog insanely this weekend.  I am pretty sure that makes me a crazy dog person.

My husband didn't clean anything this weekend.  I'm annoyed at him even though this is semi-unreasonable since it isn't like I was cleaning.  I'm also annoyed with him because he went to drop the car off for an alignment and he locked the keys in the car.  Then called me, at 6am, to google a locksmith.  I can't decide if this is lucky or just annoying since we could use our roadside assistance for free and he didn't know we had it- so rather than paying off hour Saturday fees, we paid nothing.

Since January 1st of this year, I have had four lovely women inform me that they will be praying for my empty uterus and my non-child desiring heart.

  • My mother's birthday is in ten days and I'm still mad at her for skipping out on Ellie and Sayre's birthdays so I'm not going to send her a present. Hmph.
  • I just read yesterday's confessions post- and I agree with the people who said deprivation now, issues with moderation later.  This just makes me that much more smug about BIL and SIL.  Nephew's birthday had cake, but it was almond meal, dutch cocoa, and almond milk/ paste frosting.  He's never been allergy tested, SIL thinks that by not exposing him to any nuts/ dairy/ soy he's less likely to be allergic.  Dumb dumb dumb.

I'm pretty sure studies would show that she has this ass-backwards.

    Your poor nephew. :(

  • Okay one last one - this is a funny one though.  I just looked through some photos of a one year old girl's birthday party that had an owl theme.  Super cute, however the angle of the first photograph of the owl design cupcakes made them look like hoo hoos (not what an owl says)  complete with an m&m right where the cl!t would be.  I LOLed.  From another angle they definitely look like cute little owls, just not in the first photo.

I sucked my pinky and ring fingers together from birth to.. wait for it... around age 12. It was the only way I could fall asleep and it drove my parents and dentists crazy. They tried everything to make me stop but I finally just did one day. And that is why the roof of my mouth is only that size and why I need braces now as an adult.

Now I looked specifically at the ones in the bottom right hand corner first AND I was on my iPhone at the time - now that I see the picture larger I think my mind just was in the gutter earlier but I do still see it when I look at the pic on my iPhone lol.

  • I'm late to this...darn work for getting in the way of my nesting !

    imageChristinaDawn:
I also confess that it irks me that people act like I'm making a horrible choice to attempt a VBAC.  It surprises me that the general public thinks its safer for me to repeat a major surgery rather than push a baby out the old fashioned way.  Why do people think this?!  It doesn't make sense to me.  The risk of rupture for me is about 1% and other than that there really aren't any other concerns.  I'm not saying that if while I'm attempting the VBAC my doc says "hey, doesnt look like this is working an your baby is in danger" I'm going to say "Screw you! i'm doing a VBAC!" anyways.  I don't see the harm in trying it.

I agree with you. If/when I get preganant again, I am going to strongly consider going for a VBAC. Honestly, the only reason that is not making me 100% sure to go that route is being able to have an extra 2 weeks off. I really don't want to go through another c/s, though, unless I really have to. Not being able to care for Gabby that first day (I couldn't leave the bed), really sucked.
