PIP expensive homes near you
I was looking at homes down the street from us on realtor.com and trulia over lunch today. Anyone want to play along and post your own?
This $1.4M beauty caught my eye. I like the staging and pro photos. The inside is nice but the outside I NMS. I know exactly where it is because it sticks out like an eyesore compared to nearby homes. 4 bed, 5 bath, 5600 sf, 12 acres, and a 9 stall horse stable with indoor arena and TV room.

Some of the finishes are so nice (possibly updated?) and others look very dated. That kitchen is too white for me and that glass block has to go!
Re: PIP expensive homes near you
Wow that kitchen is painfully white.
$900K- Kinda boring actually
The interior unfortunately isn't much to look at because the home's fallen into disrepair.
$4.1M, 6385 sq ft, 5.1 acres, built in 1848. The house has been on the market for over 3 years, reduced from originally $7M+. My understanding is that it's not terribly historically significant, so their price is grossly inflated.
A stager and a pro photographer could do a LOT for this house....though not as much as a This Old House crew could :P

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
This one is AWESOME! I want to live here. Warehouse turned home. $980K
For a mere $4.95 mil... 4 bedroom, 3.75 bath, 7,610 sf, 150 feet of prime waterfront.
Love this one too. It is my dream home. $990K
Fun - this one is a mere $6.9 million (incredible location)
This is the most expensive home in my zip code. $1.15m. 3BR/BA, 3500 sq ft. You're paying for the views.
A few doors down from the last one is this house. $950K, 4 bed, 4 bath, and 8 acres.
And this is the closest one I'd be willing to buy. You know, if I had $1.6 mil just laying around. 5BR/5BA, 6,096 sq ft. 5.47 acres.
1.8 Million
Other than waterfront, it doesn't do much for me.

At least in my town, the most expensive is $3.2 million, built in 1862:
Nice garden, but the interior is very NMS:
To answer your question, FoxinFiji, this is within 3 miles of me, but I never would have known.
For me just in nearby areas.
Mine are in my zip code, I live in a pretty small county.
Here's another, $1.575
I'm not digging the cabinetry in the kitchen or the closet. And the coca cola room is umm, interesting.

This is about 7 blocks away from my house...
$3.3M, 5bd/5ba, 6700SF, 1/4 of an acre, built 1912
It's not that different than most of the houses w/ in a few blocks of it except the pool which is pretty rare. The lot may be larger than standard too. It's the "Country Club" neighborhood in the city which is pricey (but very nice) & awesome location (close to Downtown & the best shopping in our city)--our house is right on the neighborhood dividing line...if it was across the street & couple houses over it'd be worth $200-300K+ more--Lol
I live 5 miles (via road) from the first one I posted. However, it's less than 1.5 miles as the crow flies. Our terrain just doesn't really allow for convenient travel from A to B. LOL
The second house I posted is 25 miles from me. But it's the closest house over 1 mil that I would pay money for. LOL
The one I posted is probably 2 miles away. Here's one that is about 6 blocks away...
$1.687 mil 4 bedroom, 3 bath, 4,610 sf. The interior isn't that amazing, but you have 40' of low bank waterfront.
One last one because I think some of you would like it. Someone had a fun time decorating this place. $960K, 5 bed, and 5 bath. On only 1.7 acres which is a huge turn off! It's also much newer being built in 2010.
$3.9 million

Normally in my area there is a direct correlation between the home price and the terrible decor - the more it costs the worse the decor
I saw this one a little while ago that I did kind of love. It's a new custom build. Now I just need to come up with the $1.8M, ha.
This is the laundry room, I think.
I need a covered porch like this.
The master bedroom.
ETA: this is in my county, not too far from me
Makes total sense about the terrain. I was just curious what people were considering nearby.
Lots of fun either way! This is one way to jump start this slow board.
That is a cool house. I agree TOH could do wonders with it!
This is awesome! I love the industrial finishes they work so well in the space. Looks like a lot of walking to get from one end to the other though.
Haha. Yeah it's huge. My butt would probably be smaller from all the walking though, so it would be worth it.
Hmpf it's only 7600 sf! LOL!
This one is ~2 blocks away & in my neighborhood.
$1.95M, 5bed, 6ba, 9600SF. less than 1/4 of an acre. It needs "work"...the kitchen is TERRIBLE (looks original to 1908) & I am sure the baths are the same. They no longer post photos of them...LOL. Actually there are only 6 photos up of a near 10kSF house which tells you something.
The view from this tub is amazing!
