I read through the comments and now have some tips.

No comb, no brush, and especially no towel ever.

Your fingers are the best comb you have, a t-shirt is the most gentle way to squeeze water out of your hair, cold water rinse, no lather cleansing, moisture moisture moisture, flip your hair over and shake it when it's saturated to loosen the curls, add product when it is really wet, and Deva cut.

Best cut of my entire lyfe. I just wish it wasn't so expensive. And an hour away.

    Crying

How much do you pay? My bestie pays $61 in Monterey and only needs a cut once every six months.

  • What is the Deva cut? I've heard of this but I still have no idea.

Always be yourself. Unless you suck.

I paid $95 and I didn't have to get mine cut for 6+ months either. But it's an hour's drive into another city and I can't justify the expense any more.

The Deva cut is a technique used to cut naturally curly hair in order to bring out/encourage the curl.

The hair is cut dry, one curl at a time, then cleansed, then set with product/clips, allowed to dry under a hood to reduce friction and movement, and then trimmed as necessary depending on how the curls fall.
