should she be allowed to wear this to prom?
Re: should she be allowed to wear this to prom?
Marry me?
I almost made my headline "is it okay to say f*ng south now"
Above Us Only Sky
LOL!
anybody want to place bets on how many 12-24ers would defend the dress?
I bet you $10,000 there'd be at least 5...
Who's in?
(My dress) has black friends!
we all fall down sometimes
brass and ballet flats
I'm waiting for the "I can't be racist, I have black friends!" defense.
Damn, EssBee beat me to it, WITH A pic!
fail.
?
The one with the white jacket over it is the only pic we have of the girl mentioned in the OP.
The one with the sequins (posed alone and with her Confederate friend) is another girl.
And the one in the picture with the other couple is YET another girl.
Three different Confederate dresses.
It's a thing. I'm sure of it.
I am the 99%.
No, they're two different girls.
I know, right??? Not only did she have the audacity to wear such a hideous, offensive dress, she had the audacity to wear that unforgettable shiit TWICE! I'm offended by the dress AND that fashion fauxpas.
ETA: Never mind, I thought Sou saw other pictures of the same girl wearing it on different occasions somewhere.

<a href="http://www.thenest.com/?utm_source=ticker&utm_medium=HTML&utm_campaign=tickers" title="Home DI was going to say something, but actually held back.
...and I"m busy googling for people wearing dresses like this and being banned from proms in Boston and Portland. So far, no such luck.
I am the 99%.
- glittery confederate flag dress - check
- appropriately costumed date and/or dad - check
- shoes - whoops.
Lol@the 2nd question mark.
Oh. OH! I totally thought these were all the same girl. Well goodness!
WHAT IN THE MUTHAEFFINFFUCCKKITYEFFF?
See, this right here. See, The good lord in heaven KNOWS not to place me in these situations. Why, because this one right here would straight up act a fool.
Why in the hell is there a pica-ninny in the background?!
TN would be a beautiful state if you could just clear out those living the hollows :-)
Above Us Only Sky
it could be one and the same (ducks for cover for stereotyping E. Tenn/KY)
Above Us Only Sky
and since the school didn't let her hardly out of her car on prom night, where was this taken, some sympathy prom for her hosted by the KKK or the Confederate Vets org that was paying legal fees?
ALASKA!
Well, if it is for Miss KKK then it is completely appropriate.
Seriously though, where was this taken? Because if that cartoon is inside the school somewhere I can see where she would think nobody would care about this dress. Dear lord.
You're normally a poster I really respect, but honestly? This prolonged ride on the "let's just crap on southerners because it's fun" train is simplistic bullsh!t.
The dress is horrible. No sympathy for the girl, and the school should change their policies if it really is normally fine to wear rebel clothing.
It's just about state pride!
And rebel attitude!!
And nawhturn aggression!!!
Just you wait. Someday... we'll win. (seriously, this last line is a direct quote from someone in a class from college... in TN)
