Poll: How far away from your immediate family do you live?
I ask because my sister and her fiance just looked at a house around the corner from us. My parents live 10 minutes away so everyone is nice and close!
How far away from your immediate family do you live?

Re: Poll: How far away from your immediate family do you live?
I'm 15 minutes from my mom (same town) DH's parents are on the other side of San Francisco (so it can be between 45 minutes to 2.5 hours depending on bridge and rush hour traffic). My brother is cross country.
We grew up with an ocean between us and all relatives so this is new to me :-)
8 hours.
Will be 3 hours away in about 2 months.
Like 5 hours by car to my parents.
A plane ride to my sister.
About a 3 hour plane ride from my parents and most of my family and a 2 hour plane ride from DH's parents.
My parents and sister are about an hour and a half south.
H's parents are about an hour and 45 min north. His brother lives 5 miles away.
I wish we were closer to my parents but I'm glad to be near his brother
My immediate family all still lives together. They live 15 minutes away. H's family lives in SC. 16 hours away...until June. When MIL will live in the next room.
12 hour drive / two hour flight. They all live in the same town.
I enjoy the distance 99% of the time.
5 min from MIL that we never see. She did show up last week and told us she is leaving her FI and going back up north.
My family is about an hour and fifteen minutes away. I wish we lived much closer to them and will be looking forward to my MIL not randomly showing up once every few months without calling first.
Daycare is SO exhausting!
Blog
9 hours from my brother
2 hours from my mother
Either 45 minutes or 16 hours away from MIL and FIL, depending on what time of year
10 minutes from two of my SILs
About 30 minutes from one of my SILs
About 25 minutes from my BIL
Literally CONTINENTS away from my last SIL. Blissful continents.
my parents are in SC, so 12 hours by car. all of my aunts and uncles are about 2 hours away.
90% of h's family is in town, between 15 and 45 minutes away. one rouge uncle and aunt live in GA.
Hahahaha... we're not close to anyone.
Are we talking by car or by plane? I did by car, since plane can get complicated when we're talking about driving to and from the airport (in some cases to places where the airport is pretty far away)
7 hours and 45 minutes from my dad and stepmom
19 hours and 1 minute from MIL and step FIL
25 hours from mom and stepdad
3 days and 3 hours from FIL and stepmom
My sister will win here soon, though with 26+ hours by plane. Vehicle time cannot be calculated.
My parents--one hour or a tad more.
DH's parents--a twelve-hour drive. We've never flown, so...but apparently it's roundabout to fly and takes a long time too.
My immediate family is all in the same town and I wouldn't have it any other way. My parents live 30 minutes away. So do my grandparents. Most of my aunts and uncles and cousins live in town, too. It's nice. (I don't have siblings)
I honestly don't see how anyone (especially w/ kids) could live in a town with no family anywhere nearby. That is really depressing.
Fifteen minute drive from my parents and sister in HS. Forty five minute drive from my brother and his family. Long plane ride from my other sister, and about a four hour drive from husband's family. It works well. My family gives us lots of space and his likely wouldn't, so they're good distances.
Forget-Me-Nots: Alaska State Flower
We don't find it depressing at all.
Granted, my aunt and uncle do live fairly nearby, but we see them maybe two or three times a year and they're more like friends than relatives.
Currently almost everyone lives in different states (including my husband!).
Sister-- 7 hours west.
Dad-- 3 hours east
Mom-- 3.5 hours West
Grandma 1-- 19 hours South
Grandma 2-- across the Atlantic
and due to the AF, H= 14 hours South
Fortunately my in-laws are only 1.5 hours North. AND H and I will be reunited in 6 weeks after 8 looooooong months : )
