Poll: How far away from your immediate family do you live?
Re: Poll: How far away from your immediate family do you live?
About an hour drive to my parents and 4 hour drive to my brother and his gf. I wish we were closer.
3 hour plane ride to MIL/SFIL, FIL, and both BILs. SSILs all longer plane rides. Not heartbroken about any of this.
4 hour plane ride to most of my extended family. Wish we were closer to them, too.
Its sad to me that my kid's isn't close to her Grandma or cousins, even though we see them enough that she knows her they are. We're about 8 hours away driving. My H's sister also lives in the area. His brother lives in CA.
In the end, we couldn't have the kind of life that we wanted there. We are truly living our dream here and that's also important for G.

My sister is 4.5-5 hours away. My parents are 6.5-7 hours.
H has a brother and sis in law within a mile of us, as well as a sister in town and a brother moving back to town in May. He is from Kenya and his parents are still back there.

One brother is 45 miles away.
The last brother is 50 miles away.
About 11 hours. Blue, it's hard. I like doing our own thing, and experiencing different things, but you can't just have people over for dinner.
However, I don't think we'll ever move back, just laterally, or further south. I do not miss the cripplingly cold winters. I don't plan on ever living anywhere that experiences those again.
about 8 hours in the car (depending on traffic out of NYC)
an hour away by airplane
an hour and fifteen minutes from my parents, hour and thirty from my brother.
just at two hours from H's parents, and 10 minutes from his brother.
these distances work well for us. H's parents do plan to move here w/in the next 5 years and that makes me a little twitchy.
1,000+ miles (florida) from mom, stepdad, and all 3 living grandparents.
Dad, stepmom and brother are within 30 mins.

My parents and siblings, and DH's siblings (both his parents are deceased) all live no more than 20 minutes away from us.
Our children all live away.
