For some reason I immediately envisioned this going viral, then Good Morning America gets a hold of it, then you and KHC get invited to go on GMA to tell your story while holding the badly designed lego set, the CEO from lego comes on and offers your son free legos for life plus a lifetime pass to Legoland!

Either way, for the ridiculous price of Legos nowadays you'd think they at the very least send a coupon for the poor kid.  Horrible horrible CS on their end.

When you tweet it with the letter can you post that on your blog? Many can retweet it and that should get them to notice it.

Just FYI we've had a couple of great experiences with Lego customer service. So it sucks, but it's probably a one off thing. Hopefully you'll get one of their normal reps. We don't like the creator sets, so I can't give you muh feedback but there are definitely some that are more delicate and some that are more sturdy (and swoosh able as my h calls it)

Captain Serious, there are places online where you can get instructions.  There are tons but try letsbuilditagain.com. And to get giant buckets of Lego, put a listing on Craigslist under toys that you want to buy Lego, people will come to you. I can help you figure out a reasonable price if you need.
