Re: YES WE DID!
THANK GOD!
OBAMA!!!
A (happy) blue FL! Wow.
But, WTF, FL- on the "Gay Marriage Ban" amendment?
I am so excited to call Barack Obama our PRESIDENT!!!
cmeon - idk what to say about ammendment 2 .... what it shows IMO is that we are still a red state, but at least a majority of the republican voters were able to see that a president-elect is about much more than social issues, and so they voted on the candidate as a whole (meaning a lot of voters in FL that went for Obama are still "socially conservative" which is why the ammendment passed but Obama was elected).... it defnitely was a blow to the gay community in FL, but at least with Obama in office there will be some protection of GLBT rights.
SO HAPPY!
I'm with Cmeon though...WTF on Amendment 2, Florida? I think a bunch of people must have just not understood it.
OBAMA!!!!!
Amendment 2. Seriosuly, Florida!
Completely Agree! My thought is You can't help who you love but oviously people feel they only have the right to love a 1 man or 1 women together only! It's discrimination & hate!
You know, I agree with you- was it not worded HORRIBLY?! I mean, I knew it was coming and had a good understanding of it, but, I still had to read it twice to make sure I knew "yes" and "no" meant. I'm sure it was confusing for many. But, it looks like similar amendments are flying all over the country. Fvvck. Just sad.
But, I am very excited to have voted for Obama and WON! My introduction to presidential elections was sucking hard up until now! LOL!
Ditto.
And I don't think Amendment 2 passed because people didn't understand it. Look at Prop 8 in California, of all places (hopefully it will turn around) It is very disappointing to me.
That said- OBAMA! YES!!!
And goodbye Feeney and Keller.
Man oh man, I will be SO HAPPY when all of this is said and done with because I am so incredibly sick of political sh!t. Even the baby boards today were nothing but "GO OBAMA!!" all day and I'm over it.
Like everyone else, I'm really disappointed with #2. Religious values aside, I can't believe so many people voted against love.
As for the presidential race, I'm so glad it's over with. I'd like to believe that we will all experience 8 years of prosperity, but unfortunately I don't see many of his proposals actually coming true. I sure would love the tax credit (for me) and the college credit (for my son and future children!) though.
I agree with you I am upset about it too. I expected it though from the preliminary polls
I have a very strong feeling that these "changes" that are being promised aren't going to help anyone. Heck, I'm already feeling bad for anyone working in the coal industry...they will be out of a job within 8 years.
I agree with you! Let's face it, most Americans think that the President has more power than he really does.
Haha Isn't it annoying when politics take over our airwaves, and then leak over onto our baby message boards so you can't get away from it???
AHH!
I'm so glad that today is November 5th!!!
So excited!!!
Not really excited about amendment 2 though..
I'm not excited at all. IMO John McCain was far more qualified and was simply out-campaigned by his opponent. Same thing happened in '92 and '96- the better looking, more charismatic candidate with the best advertiing on.
I just pray that Obama lives up to the hype and keeps his promises. Only time will tell.
"Yes we can!" is a Bob the Builder line. Lol.
While I agree with you, I disagree as well. ?I don't hope that Obama lives up to his promises. ?Socialized health care.....tax hikes.....disarming the military....more money spent with less money coming in....none of that sounds very good to me.?
Steph I love You but For someone who want the politics to go away and find it annoying- you are adding fuel to the fire.
I am not excited either. This man does not have the experience to run this country. Hopefully his cabinet will have a clue. Most of Obama's promises seem a bit unrealistic to me.
Yea! I'm excited!!! I'm so proud that our country voted him as our President, something I honestly never thought would happen in my lifetime as an African American woman.....
I believe he will do well as Commander and Chief....
I pray and believe that he has the wisdom to lead this country in a positive direction.
I do hope people recognize that he is human and not a mircle worker...the issues we are currently experiencing will take time to solve...it will not happen overnight and may not happen within 1 term....but you know what, he's now the leader of our country and I support him and pray for his success...b/c as he succeeds so does our country....
I hope that this country can moved forward and now support the man who is now our President Elect b/c with all the politics aside, we are all Americans...
Now the hard work begins....
You are right - I didn't mean I want all those things....but he did promise to fix health care and lower taxes. Those are the promises I hope he keeps - but I'm not holding my breath. Clinton promised to fix health care too
