Re: YES WE DID!
You are right - I didn't mean I want all those things....but he did promise to fix health care and lower taxes. Those are the promises I hope he keeps - but I'm not holding my breath. Clinton promised to fix health care too
Happy about Obama.
?
Furious about #2. ?Bigotted jackasses.
?
I honestly believe there's a way to socialize medicine without giving carte blanche to the government and taking away decision making from doctors. ?We already have socialized medicine... medicare and medicaid. ?I hope they'll improve those programs too.
?
I don't envy Obama. ?Every misstep will be harped on as proof that he's not qualified to run the country. ?A lot of Presidents weren't qualified, but most did ok. ?"OK" is all we can expect. ?Anyone who expects more than "ok" is pretty much living in a dream world. ?The country is too big with too many factions for everyone to be happy, but I think we can move forward towards more equality of rights and doing a better job of caring for our citizens. ?That's all I ask... small steps.? No one fulfills all their campaign promises, but any progress, however small, is better than nothing at all.
So You are not ok with the government telling you what to do with your body per say, but you are ok with MCCain telling women what they can do with theirs and the abortion rights & women's rights?!
Actually, if anyone would have discussed things with me earlier (when I was asking you all) then you would have heard me say that is the only thing I am in agreement with Democrats about. ?I am pro-choice as long as abortions aren't being used as birth control. ?But I also am fairly certain that Roe v. Wade will never be over turned regardless of who is in office so that isn't something that any of us have to worry about.?
And he also said that he's going to hard core tax the coaling industry and it will basically force them to shut down, putting TONS of people out of work. And he's going to cut way back on the defense funding, and that puts people like myself (who works in that industry) in danger of losing their job.
I don't trust Obama, I REALLY do not. I've watched enough news shows recently while on maternity leave (especially the ones where they were falling over themselves for him) and there are just so many things that he says and does that I don't like. IMHO he was elected into the Senate by a FLUKE...if nasty reporters didn't dig up Jack Ryan's divorce paperwork (which was blacked out for privacy but they got it anyways), he would have won the seat and Obama never would have won gotten it.
I don't give a damn if I'm fueling the fire, I am personally not happy that our new Commander in Chief is someone that really isn't qualified for the position. Good Lord, he has a serious ego trip...didn't ANYONE notice the Obama/Biden signs? No one has ever made their Vice President running mate's name smaller than the President's, but he sure did. And he changed the logo on his plane. Etc., etc., etc.
With that being said, I'm glad that Bush will be gone soon because he's a giant idiot.
I was a McCain all the way. I am not thrilled that Obama is our President. I don't think he is qualified - 143 days in the Senate does not make you qualified to run this great country. I will however, support my President. That is what you do as a good American. I support Bush - as unhappy as I was with many of his choices in office - I do because that is what a good American does.
I don't agree with many, many of Obama's views on things and I just hope to God he does well.
Ah I really wanted to reply to this today but i was too busy at work today. Sorry gals, no more politics talk from me after this.
Anyway, I voted for Obama, I did my research for many weeks, watched all debates and rally's that took place in the Orlando area and kept an open mind during all. I went in to vote with 2 sheets full of pro and con's and who i was for and against on all canadates from the president to amendments. I was very prepared to vote(I believe if you are going to voice or vote for something you should go in educated)
Although I feel no one should have to explain themselves if they dont want to without being called uneducated, to explain why i voted for who i did could span many many pages citing the difference in tax policy, foreign policy but i wont do that. What it boils down to is with a democratic controled congress the only way to get any change in this country which we so need is to vote in a democratic president, Once you strip away all of the campagin promises, all the things they want to do, all the things they say they can do what it really comes down to is what can actually be done. A republican president doesnt share the democratic ideas of congress so there would be constant conflict and we would still be in gridlock. How can we get change in this country, and i believe, the person i voted for could. I would feel bad for people who vote for a president believing they say they can do everything they promise, that NEVER happens. I believed that we needed a different direction in our counrty, without support from congress a president really cant do much but start a war and veto anything congress puts through and we've already had too many of those years. I do agree that Obama doesn't have as much experience I would have liked, but he will have alot of help. I would rather that than no change. (even if that change is a slow process) I am really happy that the elections are over though so i can catch up on some reading and Tivo
My sentiments exactly.
I too am not happy about the outcome, but I am just one voice in the big picture. The majorty has spoken and has elected Obama as our next president. I pray that he does what he's setting out to do..."change."
