My Crazy Emotions re. Palin
Re: My Crazy Emotions re. Palin
Ditto 100% ?Yay Hillary, Boo Sarah.?
I think you all missed my "I'm PMSy.../gavel" post.
In any case. You all make excellent, excellent points. She's a bad news bear. ITA! (Though, I still don't think Team McCain should be throwing her under the bus; she is their fault.)
Eh, I think Team McCain has some justification for throwing her under the bus if she was GOING ROGUE as so many have claimed. She apparently began raising Ayers in her appearances before the campaign had decided how they wanted to raise it, etc.
She is their fault, but she has to own some of the bad choices as well.
Very good point. I can't believe how much she went rogue. She really helped put the nail in McCain's coffin. They made a huge mistake in choosing her.
I don't feel bad for her one little bit. She didn't "do" anything notable--she didn't get the nomination because of her qualifications, and she's used what opportunity the nom might have given her to show the world what a useless twit she is. I was confused how she managed to get herself elected governor until I saw that AK re-elected Stevens and now I see that the state must set such ridiculously low standards for public service that they'll elect pretty much anyone.
I don't think she'll return to obscurity, nor can I decide whether to look forward to the entertainment value that her continued public presence will surely provide or if I should fear it instead.
I didn't miss it...I remember fondly (as a Hillary supporter back in the day) your arguments against any "because she is a woman" comments my particular favorite being the one about pulling the voting lever with your vagina. (That was you wasn't it?)
Don't worry....you'll be back to your old self in a day or so...hehe...
I do feel sorry for her, but I blame McCain for that. Let's face it; Palin was great IN Alaska. She appears to have been a popular governor of a state where the gov didn't really have that many responsibilities. She was, as someone else put it in a different post, a big fish in a little pond. I think she deserve all kinds of credit for that.
Her downfall was that she didn't realize how small her pond really was - she thought she was a big fish in a much, much larger pond. But hey - i can't really blame the woman for having confidence in herself. If McCain had properly vetted her, he would have know that VP was way over her head and he never would have picked her. She would have continued as governor and probably would have done a fantastic job and inspired many little alaskan girls to follwo thier dreams.
Anything you can achieve through hard work, you could also just buy.
Not me. Though that's pretty clever and I wish I could take credit for it.
In any case, to clarify, in my PMSy, post-election sentiments from last night, I was no way implying that anyone should vote for Palin just b/c she is a woman. I would cry tears of pain if she actually won.
There is a difference between confidence and outright self-delusion because you're that dumb. I'm a pretty good swimmer, but I'm not going to up and join the Olympic team* just b/c someone decided I was pretty enough and would attract lots of fans. I'd get my a$$ kicked in an Olympic race -- and I'm smart enough to know I don't belong in the pool with Olympians. That isn't a lack of confidence. That is self-awareness.
Palin isn't even smart enough to realize she has no business on the national stage. And when McCain's team tried to prep her for the Katie Couric interview, she refused. She wouldn't even admit she needed help. She has no self-awareness.
* this example only works if I could actually choose to join the team.
