Re: thoughts on VP debate?
I would take Joe Biden as our president ANY DAY over Romney. You are whining that he was rude and mocking, I saw it as aggressive and insulted at the filth Ryan was spewing -- I honestly would rather have seen Biden get angrier than laugh, but it was probably all he could do from not losing his cool.
Can't wait to hear Romney try to Etch-A-Sketch Ryan's admission that they both STILL want to privatize social security.
Joe Biden consistently interrupted and did his best to prevent Paul Ryan from being able to get his point across. He would sit and laugh with an air of disdain and mockery.
Biden also consistently called everything Ryan said a lie and inaccurate when in fact much of what Biden was saying was inaccurate and lies.

Both clearly appealed to their base, which was the goal. Biden fullfilled his role by coming out swinging and Ryan fullfilled his goal of staying even keeled and managing to work in the points they wished to relay.
nope that wasn't why. I didn't turn it off btw....i just learned to ignore biden. ryan wasn't lying
Various fact checkers caught both sides...stretching the truth, if you will. So yes. Ryan fibbed as did Biden. Mislead, stretched the facts. Whatever you want to call it. Both sides were about equal in the number of mistruths.
this is true. i didn't see that there was a land slide win either way like last week.
As Ryan said he knows foreign policy because he voted to send men and women into war and he's visited them. That's the standard view of neo cons. We believe in war and that makes us know foreign policy. Look strong even when wrong is not a foreign policy it's pandering to fear.
I agree with this. It was a draw IMO. Biden did smirk a lot, but I saw a smirk cross Ryan's face a few times too. It doesn't bother me when each side does that, it shows they're passionate about how they think we should govern our country. I would smirk if I were debating someone who disagreed with me.
If I HAD to give the edge to someone, I would say Biden. His aggressiveness was what Democrats were looking for, and while it turned off some people, the truth is he was heard and that is what needed to happen. Ryan just seemed a little subdued. Intelligent, but subdued.
my read shelf:
I think it was extremely hard for Ryan to describe their policy when he was constantly interrupted. Someone counted 82 interruptions by Biden and over one hundred when you throw in the moderator.
Then people have the nerve to say he wasn't complete and clear in his answers. I think it was awful for our vice president to behave the way he did. We teach our children to behave better. What a horrid example to set. And then his supporters call it a win?
Biden either lied his head off about the Libya situation or he and the president are really out of the loop, which is inexcusable. Their own people have admitted under oath that they knew this was not a random mob action from the beginning. Who know, while they were blaming the you tube video.
Also, did anyone catch the lie about putting the two wars on a cc. Biden said that was Ryan's fault and Biden was against it.
Biden voted for that funding. Check the record. That is a big ole lie and he got away with it. Didn't hear the moderator calling him out on it, and Ryan didn't have much chance to say anything.
Really, Biden seemed unstable during this debate. He was everything I would not want my children to behave like. Can he not control himself or is he just that awful in the manners department?
I was laughing to DH tonight when we saw an anti-Obama bumper sticker that said "YOU LIE." I was like, does anyone actually think there's a politician that DOESN'T lie at some point?
oh, I caught that one. also, last night I was up way too late talking to DH about it all. His theory is that the democrats have thought out their strategy and the way obama and biden have performed the last 2 debates is how they planned it out. like they wanted obama to seem not that great so everyone is talking about that plus big bird. then, they wanted biden to act so arrogant and rude so everyone would be talking about that plus malarky. he said its all for the undecideds, so they forget about the facts. he also said that the next debate will be good for obama as he is really personable with people and will come off as very well liked. after i thought about it, that did make sense.
Really? The best strategy is to suck? I highly doubt they would have intentionally done that bad. He may have tried to be reserved, but no way would they have intentionally lost that badly, it put the entire campaign in jeopardy.
Listen to yourself.
Have you seen the Nate Silver site recently? He's a diehard Dem who is hell-bent on showing everything in the best possible light for Obama and Biden, and even he has moved Florida, Colorado, and Virginia in recent days. Hard to be cocky when the Obama electoral vote # is 285, with momentum going decisively to Romney.
When Obama's at around 46 or 47 in the RCP average, it means he hasn't closed the deal, and the race is very close. There's not a precedent for an incumbent to win with that number, esp. in these economic times.
I know the Dems loved seeing Biden be a condescending ass because it's how they themselves view the Republicans. It's very obvious. The snide tones are paralllel.
partisan crap
Your hyperbole is laughable, and the attempt to shoehorn Etch-a-Sketch into the comment was very contrived. Go back to the drawing board.
"Filth?" Please.
English, please....
Thanks!
Pun intended?
Yep. It's easy to win when you simply spout out what people want to hear - whether it is true or not.
Your thoughts on the VP debate were that a pollster isn't being cocky (or that we are being cocky? - I'm confused), the race is close, and democrats want Biden to be a republican? Did I miss something?
So what we've learned from this thread is that the Republicans think Ryan won and the Democrats think Biden won.
Oh, man! I said that like 4 posts in, everything else was a waste. ::womp::womp::
