Is Romney a Safer Choice for Women?

I find it so interesting how differently people view the same information. I personally, am scared sh!tless of a Republican controlled government. I would never move to a red state...I would be too frightened.

I can't even stand the thought of Romney winning.  To me, it is a horrifying idea.  It's very odd that people are frightened by the idea of 4 more years of Obama, and actually excited by the thought of Romney in the white house. The idea makes me throw up in my mouth a bit. Yuck.

Everything is worse for us right now than four years ago. Simple as that. Economy, taxes, gas prices, the value of our home, now maybe even our health insurance, etc. So we are scared to have another four years of the same situation or worse. Why would we ever have faith that Obama can turn it around for us? And now to fit the stereotype, we are small business owners who are directly being affected by everything from the economy to new diesel truck regulations. We are getting smothered. So of course we are scared for another four years of Obama! Why wouldn't we be?

Can we stop saying overtly false things like Obama raised taxes, increased gas prices, pretty please?

I could disagree. Gas prices were high, over $4, before the 2008 election. They dropped very low prior to the election, then went back up. The value of my home has increased over the last couple years. Health insurance? I'm just grateful my future children can't be denied coverage for a condition they could potentially be born with. My father still cannot legally marry his partner of 28 years in the state they live in but thanks to the President, they can at least have visitation rights should one of them end up on their death bed in the hospital. It's a step in the right direction and I hope we continue to move forward.

Okay, you said it better than I did and with less words.  I'll just cosign this.

I can understand your individual situations, therefore you have different opinions. But this is why some people are worried for another four years. They have totally different lives than you.

But if we utilize oil around our continent, won't gas prices go way down? Obama will never do this. He will never utilize our own resources. Our federal taxes on our business have increased with steady profit the last couple of years. Our semi trucks are getting so strictly regulated it's as if they want to make it as hard as possible for your company to even be able to use them. With new laws and regulations. It's almost as if they don't want you to succeed; thats how it feels sometimes. There are just SO many factors that affect everyone differently. Things you would never consider. And I recognize this for others as well. I guess some people are better off, but not the people I know.

And honestly, I do think gas prices tie in with the economy, and taxes tie in with the deficit. No? I think Romney can fix the economy better than Obama, and balance the budget. So I think those issues will improve.

What is Romney's plan to fix the economy?  Show me some figures of how he plans to do this?

And as far as semi-truck regulations - things haven't changed much.   We still have the same regulations for drive times, fuel tax requirements, hauling agreements, etc.  The only major change is DEF fuel requirements, but this is also because of newer truck engines need this additive and the EPA has said it's better for the environment.  Please show me how semi-trucks have it harder now than 4 years ago?

Exactly, which is of course why you would vote for the candidate that will most benefit you. In a lot of ways, Romney's economic policies might benefit me better, but they and his other policies would hurt a lot more of the people I care about so for me I have to go with the candidate that better aligns with what is important to me.

See, this makes me think you just don't understand how it all ties together.  Gas prices rise when the economy is good and sink when it's bad.  Our sources only get us so far.

Sometimes values and principles are more important than how a candidate can personally benefit you... and 'how a candidate can personally benefit you' can be defined in many ways.

Romney has explained his five point plan many times. There's a good explanation in a post lower. And I'm not going to show you my husband's invoices for trucks, the repairs and maintenance on the new ones because they have crappy systems due to the new requirements. They are way more expensive now, cost more in repairs and maintenance, and get worse gas mileage. This costs us more money. We know what we are going through and why we are voting for Romney. I don't know everything, but I do know our own situation.

Edit- added the link. There ya go. I think this sounds great and what America needs. My opinion. And I can't show you figures (really?). It's not my job to add up numbers. It's my job to decide who I think will do a better job based on the information given. Sorry.

Well it was too vague and yes didn't totally make sense. When gas prices are low, the economy is better. When gas prices are high, the economy is worse. Gas prices are high right now and the economy is bad as well. If they were lower, we would have extra money to spend elsewhere. If we could use our own resources, of course gas prices would be lower! Because no one would have leverage over us.

See, this makes me think you just don't understand how it all ties together.  Gas prices rise when the economy is good and sink when it's bad.  Our sources only get us so far.

The economy is not worse than it was in January 2009 when gas prices were super low.  Gas prices are higher than Jan 09, and the economy is better than Jan 09.

North America does not have an infinite supply of oil.  We should use what we have to bridge to the next energy source, not not rely on it as our permanent solution.  Plus, we seriously need to consider the risks to health and environment as we manage our natural resources.  Just because we theoretically have eneregy sources, doesn't mean its worth permanently damaging our land.

I'm not sure exactly what you think Obama did or did not do, but most of what Romney has been asserting about Obama limiting oil production is false or misleading.

Yes, I think we said the same thing. If I was looking for financial benefit above all else, I'd probably be voting R. But that's not what's important to me. We could be taxed 50% and still be better off than a large portion of Americans. I don't want the burden to be on the shoulders of those that can't afford it.

But don't you think it'd be nice if those people, who are in less fortunate situations, could get decent jobs? Earn a decent living and become prosperous? They need the opportunity. They don't have it right now. A lot of people don't.

And I think they will. It's only been 4 years. Even if McCain had won, I really don't think the improvement would have been much better by this point. You can't expect an economy that tanked so much to turn around overnight. There has been improvement and I believe it will continue.

What we really need is better incentives for companies to keep jobs in the States than to ship them overseas.

  • If you're rich and can buy what you need, Romney would be great.  Otherwise, better go with someone who actually cares about all Americans.  BTW, that is the CUTEST pic!

But if we utilize oil around our continent, won't gas prices go way down? Obama will never do this. He will never utilize our own resources. Our federal taxes on our business have increased with steady profit the last couple of years.

Are you honestly implying I'm a liar? That I'm making this all up to convince people not to vote for Obama? Please tell me.

No, I'm not.  I'm very well-versed in the transportation industry as I'm an accountant for a large transportation company.  As for the rest, I'm asking you to explain Romney's plan.

I don't know everything, but I do know our own situation.

    http://www.mittromney.com/jobsplan

Edit- added the link. There ya go. I think this sounds great and what America needs. My opinion. And I can't show you figures (really?). It's not my job to add up numbers. It's my job to decide who I think will do a better job based on the information given. Sorry.

So are you saying that you're voting for Romney in hopes that he does away with the EPA?  Or forces mechanics to charge less?  I really don't understand how you're tying the (current or future) President to your H's truck expenses.  My grocery bill is up, but I know it's not Obama's fault.  So is my rent, but again, it's not the Presiden'ts fault.

    What about your daughter?

If she was ever in a position to need one, wouldn't you want her to have access to every option available to her instead of being told by the government that she can't have one?

When Sarah Palin's daughter got pregnant, SP made it very clear that Sarah, Bristol and Todd sat down and went over "all their options".  Abortion was one of the legal options, even if it wasn't their personal options.

She's gonna be taught to keep her legs crossed like I was taught.  I know it can still happen but there's a higher chance of her being enslaved to a poor economy than ever needing an abortion.  I'd feel better about giving it up for adoption than abortion any day.  That's mine and DH's personal belief.  As for rape, yes it can happen but the odds aren't high there either.  I was never raped, thank the lord.  I know these are issues that are put out there to young women to scare them into voting for democrats.  Not scared here.  Personally I think abortion should remain legal but shouldn't be funded by any government.  Like elective surgery, if you want one, pay for it yourself.

Cool.  Well, if you and your family aren't going to need their rights, then I'm glad that you're also ensuring no one else gets them either.

Speaking of spreading legs... Mitt Romney kind of reminds me of a high school jock saying everything possible to get some girl to spread her legs.  Right now he says he'll love the middle class forever, but once you give up your vote all bets are off.
