Romney being tied to Voting Machines
Re: Romney being tied to Voting Machines
Wtf - how did a post about the Romneys owning voting machines turn into a fear mongering post about commies? Even if Barack's BFF was a communist, why do we care? What is the concern? I'm talking worst case scenario, what would it be?
There are actual issues in this election, important issues! Get it together, FFS.
Yes I do. That is why we don't baptize Jews.
Maybe not now, but Mormons have in the past.
Yes. They do as of 2011.

Yes you are right.
We believe we are all children of God and love others as well as our families, so we are doing what we believe is good. I appreciate you understand that aspect in a way. I'm sorry if this causes you to overlook all the good in the church and the people.
I would fall over in a dead faint if the communists ever supported a Republican.
But I don't overlook all the good and charitable things you do. I can dislike an aspect and still see the overall good aspects of a faith. I've always been fascinated by the Mormon Church from a historical perspective. I just don't spiritually agree.
In diversity there is beauty and strength, right? I admire anyone who can relate to a variety of people and take the best of all. I just don't see what the problem is, communists aren't evil.
How in the world do you figure they never had the chance? The Mormon church wasn't invented yesterday.
I don't understand how you can't see that post mortem Mormon baptism would be offensive to someone that chose to practice another religion. You wouldn't want someone converting you after your death.
i see your point there.
You are very, very confused. Obama met his father only once, when he was 13. Frank was a friend of his grandfather's - and not a mentor selected for Obama. (I'm not sure how you think that happens anyway. Did your grandparents pick a mentor for you, and would you follow him if they did?)
Anyway, lots of people in the 20sand 30s were pro-Communist. They were idealists, and this was before it became clear the Soviet Union was going to be an authoritarian state.
And lots of people were on the FBI's 'list' and weren't particularly dangerous - and in those days a black activist was a sure bet to be on their list.
Is that "we" as in you/your family? Or a collective "we"?
Because I find that only associating with people who agree with you to be a little narrow-minded. Do you ask people's political/economic views before you give them the time of day?
I would imagine that someone who had been engaged in higher education for years, between undergrad/law school/faculty roles, Obama probably had the opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with people from nearly every imaginable ideology. Shame on him for not slamming the door on anyone he encountered in his life who did not toe the liberal and/or capitalist line?
I would also imagine that someone with such extensive business experience, Romney has probably worked with people who don't agree with him on every key issue. Not to mention his governorship of a state that vastly swung the other direction as he does politically.
In other news, the Socialist party is on the Ohio ballot, so at least all those Ohioan communists have another option...
Exactly. It's inappropriate. And if you're going by Scripture, then the only way to heaven is through salvation. If the person didn't have Christ in their heart while they were alive, then, according to the Bible, they won't be in heaven. I don't see how baptizing them postmortem would change that.
collective "we". and no i don't ask people about their political views before I engage in more convo with them, that's silly. Speaking from my personal experience I have been around very bad influence people and eventually got rid of all the bad in my life. I didn't and still don't associate with people that bring me down, so to speak or bring any negativity to my spirits.
We believe anyone who was never exposed to the restored gospel should still have a chance to accept it and Christ. That wouldn't be fair to those people if we believed they were just out of luck. We believe you still have a chance, and choice, after death to do so, but you do need to be baptized here on earth like Jesus was.
I don't know if you are truly curious or just want to further criticize and ridicule. I do not want to continue religious discussion, but I would try to answer a question if you are curious and your intentions are kind hearted. If anyone has questions I really do encourage you to go to Mormon.org.
I had no idea that people baptized the deceased.
Yes, and it seems that some of the dead are exposed to it again and again:

It's an offensive practice to target people who died for their religious beliefs to be subjected to "religious conversion."
I'm always up for listening to others' beliefs. I'm just not sure where in the Bible you are finding that baptism after death is still a way to get to Heaven. I read the passages on that link you posted earlier and am still not understanding it, unless I am just interpreting the scripture differently.
Regardless, I still think it is wrong to do to someone who had different religious beliefs when they were alive. Would you want someone doing it to you?
well if I didn't believe in their faith and it was false then it would not matter. it would be meaningless.
I'm sorry if this one aspect overshadows all the good of the Mormon church/faith in your opinion. We center around the family, believing we can be together forever and have joy here on earth and later, and being Christ like, and charitable, helping those in need around us, loving everyone around us, of our faith or not. Heavenly Father loves all of us, and we all have the opportunity to be with Him again. Christ atoned for our sins, and it is never too late for anyone. There is much more to the religion than this one aspect, and it all ties in together. I'm sorry you feel this way.
I edited for length.
And I'm sorry that you don't have any respect for the religious beliefs of others.
But, I thought you said they didn't exist anymore. How could they support a Republican then?
Um, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Fez or anyone else said Communists don't exist anymore. But the Red Scare IS over. Move on.
Please show me where I said they don't exist anymore.
I really wish y'all would decide if he's a communist, a socialist, or a facist. Because seriously, this sh*t is getting straight up redic.
If you think having a black activist in the 1940's on the FBI's list is somehow equivalent to being on the FBI's list in 2012 you are EXTREMELY ignorant about the political and racial environment of the 1940's - 1960's. Extremely.
MLK was on the FBI's list and was considered a dangerous communist activist by them because one of his closest advisors was one of the leaders of the Communist USA party. They sent him letters saying they would out him as an adulterer if he didn't stop his civil rights actions and implied he should commit suicide. Should we now start being a-feared of all the people who consider MLK as a mentor? Do you now think MLK MUST have been a commie since, you know, birds of a feather and all that ish? Even though he specifically said he was not a communist? Because, WTF.
