Petraeus Resigns as Director of CIA
Re: Petraeus Resigns as Director of CIA
loly. No one is mehing adultery. People were questioning why he would resign his post over adultery. That just isn't something resignable in the private sector.
We aren't ready to turn the us into Hedonism IV...yet.
YUP! Seems to happen in most threads.
If we can get back on task-
NBC is reporting he WH opened an investigation as to whether the biographer has improper access to his email. This would be a huge security issue.
I still don't think it's Benghazi related. They can still call him to testify if they wish. It doesn't really protect him from that.
My "meh" reaction was to him resigning over committing adultery. Didn't seem like something someone should lose their job over, but I was unaware of the military's rules regarding it. You are kinda a hot head, eh?
I have not been on the board lately so I have alot stored up. And of course it has to be hate since it disagrees with you.
So far tonight my disagreeing has resulted in me being called a hater, drunk, bitter, funny, etc.
Liberals never cease to amaze me with their tolerance and non-judgemental view of people who believe something different than they.
Liberals are open-minded as long as you agree with them.
And when liberals disagree it's called bullying. Annoying huh?
Yikes, I was using the slang term hating, as in ridiculing. Which i think is a fair assessment, right?
Anywho, I haven't seen you disagree with much content tonight. Mostly I've just noticed you trying to call people out on citations and then complain that Parenting posters are a bunch of bullies.
So, if you decide to start discussing politics/current events, then let me know and we can actually disagree.
There's a former intelligence officer on CNN right now swearing up and down that Petraeus would not have been investigated for a simple marital affair. Sounds like everyone thinks something else is going on, but not sure what. Hopefully journalists do their job and figure it out. Such unexpected news.
Not if he can be blackmailed. But if he's making it up to cover up Benghazi, that would mean he'd have pretty little regard for his wife of 37 years. Granted, that he had an affair means that as well, but adultery is not something that you just throw out there just 'cause... it's hurtful to his family.
I feel really really disappointed in him for this.
And anybody remember when the liberal group MoveOn.org took out a full page ad "General Betray-us?" (I was pissed at them for that). Petraeus was a Bush nominee--he was not exactly a beloved "liberal", by any means.
The FBI uncovered the affair while investigating his biographer's improper access to his emails. People are grasping at straws to make it a juicy cover-up and politically motivated. It became a matter of trust between Petraeus and the administration. A
nd top execs do get canned for screwing around. Lockheed just ousted their soon to be CEO for it yesterday.
Please forgive my na?vet? on this, I have no idea how the CIA works, but is it true that if he is no longer Director and is questioned, he can simply plead the 5th?
I'm not saying I don't believe that he is stepping down because of the affair, I just read that on another forum.
I could see the improper use of emails being the real story or if there was some other conflict of interest (like the suggestion it was an affair with a subordinant). I would just be really surprised if the only reason he resigned is because he had an affair.
