Right now we are using condoms but I feel bad for my husband.

    Um, why?

Umm why do you think I don't need to go into detail about that.

Yeah I have no idea why you're feeling sorry for him.  Using condoms means he's getting laid.  Therefore you don't have to feel sorry for him.  Unless he's allergic to them, there's no reason to feel sorry.  Any other condom issue can be overcome by trying a different kind.

"Why do you think?"  WTF?  Do you want help addressing these issues or not?  "Feeling sorry" for your husband about condom usage isn't a normal or obvious reaction and not something that many of us understand.  I honestly have no idea why you would "feel sorry" for your husband wearing a condom.

If I have to think about it...  I think you feel sorry for him because you insist that he wears fluorescent pink ones with unicorns on the package.  And you force him to go to the drug store and buy them himself.  With a coupon.  That doesn't scan.  So the entire store staff has to come to the counter to help get the coupon to ring up.  While suppressing their sniggers that he's buying fluorescent pink unicorn condoms.

If you're actually experiencing problems with condom use, there are a lot of varieties and techniques that you could be using to address the issue.  But of course that would mean actually discussing it.  On the off chance that I can hit on it at random, here are a few:
    - If he's feeling constricted because he has a wide girth, consider trying Magnums.  They're actually larger all around and can be comfortable for a man with a wide penis.  You don't have to be King Kong to be more comfortable in a Magnum.
    - If he's experiencing itching or burning sensations, it could be a latex allergy or a reaction to the lubricant or spermicide.  Try a latex-free or hypo-allergenic brand.
    - If there are problems with lubrication, try an additional external water-based lubricant.  Liquid Silk is quite nice, but even the basics like KY or Astroglide can make a huge difference.
    - If he hates the smell, go for a flavored condom.  The artificial flavor is mostly just fragrance.
Wow your rude for starters if I wanted to discuss condom use I would. This post is about natural family planning. I already got the answers to my questions. And am currently working on resolving the condom situation. With all the feminist in here how dare a women feel sorry for her husband! God forbid he have pleasure during sex too.

Just saying that "I feel sorry for him" doesn't sound like a great reason to switch to a less reliable method of contraception. And yeah, I was a bit rude, but you kind of pissed me off with that whole "It's an undisputed fact that IUDs terminate pregnancies" comment. Uninformed BS makes me snarky.

No one said a word about switching to a less reliable source of BC because of him. I am switching because of health reasons that I have already listed. So unless your just not reading my posts I don't know where this is coming from. I don't care what you think about IUD. My own doctor advised me that if I don't want pregnancies terminated without my knowledge I should not use the IDU method of BC. When I went over my concerns with her 2 years ago she stated the pill was the least invasive ,and was the best option for me and my religious beliefs. So excuse me for listening to my doctor over some one off the internet.

I am just tired of every time I post here it could literally be about grapes and someone has something "snarky" to say. I was never rude and said nothing deserving of that kind of response. It's annoying don't be rude if there is no reason to be rude.

    Except for here:

Right now we are using condoms but I feel bad for my husband.

I must not be reading your posts.  Someone came on here under your screenname and said she was considering natural family planning to avoid pregnancy, and that although they currently use condoms, that makes her feel bad for her husband.  Considering natural family planning is much less reliable than condoms, and the reason stated for not continuing condom use is "feeling bad for my husband," the original post must have been written by someone else! You should really contact The Nest about other people posting from your account!

I don't care what you think about IUD.
Cool! Neither do I! I have no opinion on IUDs one way or the other. I'm so glad we're on the same page that it was your blanket-sweeping falsehood that bothered me rather than some opinion about IUDs. It's really refreshing when people admit that they're wrong! Thanks for being such a great person!  *hugs*

  • No, no and no. Do not use this method if you cannot have a child right now. Despite the losses in my sig, I got pg very easily. 1 was b/c I missed a pill, the other was b/c I wasn't ovulating and we were out of condoms. B/c we would be trying in the coming months I figured it was ok but I was not ovulating. Depending on the environment sperm can live for 3-5 days if conditions are right. Plus as you said your cycles are not regular.

I now now that I have a blood clotting disorder and I also have a latex allergy. So we use non latex condoms. It sucks but we aren't ready for a permanent solution.  Naturalamb is the brand DH prefers b/c it is the least plastic and most sensitive. Stop feeling bad for your DH, he is a responsible adult making a decision with his wife that is best for the time being.

Yeah, this is starting to look like you just wanted an excuse to brag about how great you are. Moral for not wanting to have an IUD, sensitive for not wanting to have your husband suffer through condoms... Barf. If your husband doesn't enjoy sex with condoms, then you are doing it wrong. You asked for advice on birth control. We have it to you. Now you're upset that we are "snarky" because we didn't fall all over ourselves telling you how wonderful you are for your courageous (misinformed) stand against IUDs and your deep concern for your husband. Whatever. This is the response I was going to post originally, but chose not to because it was too snarky: here's your choices. Figure out how to use condoms right, acclimate to the pill, get over your moral objection to the IUD, or try FAM and accept a higher that necessary risk of unplanned pregnancy. Something tells me you'll pick the latter, and the person who will suffer will be your unplanned child. But hey, I guess as long as you can feel smug about the superiority of your BC choices, it's all good.

Way to cut and paste pieces of my response. Leaving out the important parts. Whatever I am done responding to you.

I could give a crap less what you think I never fought with anyone but I am not going to be disrespected for no reason. I already had my questions answered I was done with this topic. I had no idea people would cling onto those two pieces of information that aren''t even important and run with them. My choice of BC options have nothing to do with being smug I was civil to everyone here. It is you who started crap with me if you simply look back over the convo you will see that. I am done with this so please leave me alone.
